and furthermore, why would you say that? Like what do you get out of saying that? Especially when it's evident that you're wrong.

What you're doing is observing the simple truth that Moss was better than Johnson is, and that's not taking anything away from Megatron.

Speaking strictly based on how Johnson is playing this season... and not just the STATS, but watching him play and knowing his skillset... he is definitely on a similar level to Moss in his prime.

Basically, I'm arguing the fact that for someone to say the best first 4 games of any WR in history is "nowhere close" is just ******ed.

I'm a big fan of Calvin's. I was all for the Patriots trading multiple high picks to get him. I think he's the best in the game. He can/will do things that Moss never did.

He's not close to what Moss was at his best. That's not a knock on Calvin. That's an homage to just how dominant Moss was.

Agreed- I love Johnson, and he's a more complete WR than Moss ever was, but he isn't as good as Moss was in his prime. Nobody is- he was a once-in-a-generation player.

I don't care what Johnson is "on pace for" so far this season. Pretty much ever offensive record in the books is on pace to be broken, and the Lions have played a lot of genuinely bad teams in their first 4 weeks.

He is pretty much my favorite WR. I love watching Lions games now. and the scary part is, you have not seen the best of Calvin Johnson yet.

Stop with the bull**** of CJ being as good as a prime Moss.

How quick can people forget?

Moss was unstoppable from day 1 and is #2 all time imo...i'd take only Rice ahead of him.

have loved watching him play since the day he came into the league. Saw him live from the front row in the 07 preseason, and wow that man was a giant beast.

Soon there will a thread complaining that BB didn't draft him.

Or a thread saying a player like him is worth tanking the season for!

I don't think you understand how dominant Randy Moss was in his prime years in MIN.

Speaking strictly based on how Larry Fitzgerald is playing this season(2008)... and not just the STATS, but watching him play and knowing his skillset... he is definitely on a similar level to Moss in his prime.

oh wait...we're talking about Calvin Johnson now?...my bad...every season it's some new flavorite that makes the goofy goona fantasy geeks go all atwitter with gushing platitudes...carry on...there'll be cake and ice cream for everyone later on...

Rice in his prime will always be a step ahead of Moss in his prime

2 Stars today are Calvin and Fitzgerald but right now they have work to do to come close to the top pair

Calvin doesn't have the luxury of having a Hall of Fame QB throw to him. Stafford is good, but he's no Brady. He didn't even have Stafford much of the time since he was always injured. Calvin posted good numbers last year with 2nd and 3rd string QBs.

heh...not to be sarcastic...BUT...(I cannot help it)...Moss had Culcrapper throwing to him in HIS prime...not exactly Joe Montana either

Moss spent most of his prime with Randall Cunningham, Jeff George, Daunte Culpepper, Gus Frerotte, etc. etc. throwing him the ball.

yes, we all know Randy Moss was good. He'll be in the HOF one day. but this was supposed to be about Calvin not Moss. today, in 2011, you could make a case for Calvin being the best WR in the league. and he's only going to get better. that's all I'm saying

While certainly impressive, all these crazy offensive numbers this year aren't as amazing as they seem to be at face value, as everyone's numbers are inflated as hell.

Hell, Colt McCoy and Jason Campbell threw for 340+ yards today...

Calvin Johnson is Larry Fitzgerald with more Speed thats pretty scary for any team trying to cover him

You're kidding me?

Moss carried every QB other than Brady.

I get the impression you may not be that old of a fellow. I assure you, the young Randy Moss was something else entirely. Moss was better at 22 than Johnson is now. Moss was better at 32 than Johnson is now.

Especially when he wasn't taking plays off...
