Maybe I'm overreacting, but is it time to pull the plug on Edelman?

PLEASE cut Ocho before going anywhere near Edelman.

My 2 cents i thought the game changed on the Woodhead interception and the same play was run later in the game with Woodhead being stopped on a 3rd three . He is a third down back and thats it instead of using Green and Ridley and pound the ball a little they seemed to have fallen in love with Woodhead.

With good reason. He's a tremendous football player.

cut ocho first then edel man.

cut ocho first then edel man.

Please explain to me how the team would be better off by cutting these two players and presumably replacing them with practice squad players.

The Patriots scored 31 points today; despite the turnovers and drops I do not understand how anybody can blame the offense for this loss.

BTW, there are three main reasons why Edelman doesn't get many pass attempts the last year and a half:

(1) GRONK
(2) Hernandez
(3) Branch

he can run the football catch the football throw the football play ST's and he's a 7th round pick who is not makeing a whole lot of money BB will not cut him and if they do cut him who takes he's place as the #4 WR ? Taylor Price still could not get on the field

Edelman has a great knack of finding room to run on kick returns....I would keep him just for that if anything...as a good STer

if the pats are to cut anybody, id like for it to be ocho. no ones been worse than ochocinco. sure he may help to open things up for welker and everyone else but if you have hernandez and price in the game, and i mean the price we saw in preseason, then we'll probably be as productive while saving $. and as i said elsewhere, if the pats are willing to pay that much to a wideout, they should have just given it to randy who knows our system a lot better than this ***. ocho needs to stop with twitter and focus on fball or otherwise hes outta here. asap.

Offensive snaps: Ocho can't capitalize - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston

Reiss had Edelman down for only 23 of the 75 snaps. I didn't notice any glaring mistakes, and he had some impact on special teams.

He's our 4th WR, and really the 6th receiving option in this offense. The amount of production we get out of him is fine considering the above. There's no shame in not beating out Branch or Welker, or Ocho's contract, for playing time. He's certainly not a better option than Gronk or Hernandez.

He's a depth guy who has filled in for Wes when needed, adds lots of special teams value, and doesn't get paid much. What exactly is the problem with Julian?

Not sure if there's anything Edelman could have done better. If you think he should be Wes Welker, you're delusional, but for the position he was played in, he didn't do anything disastrous.

That Jarius Byrd bat down wasn't his fault.

Gee why can't the Pats get good players like Byrd? OH that's right, he was the 43 pick in the 2009 draft, who were the 41st and 42nd picks you ask....

glad you did:

41: Ron Brace
42: Darius Butler

You sure are overreacting. Edelman was actually one of the bright lights in yesterday's game. He did an excellent job returning kickoffs, and as I recall, ran one sweep very well. Why you would start a thread about him--especially a negative one--is beyond me.

I was puzzled, however, that he was given the ball on running plays. We have a plethora of running back, all of them pretty good. And speaking of that, where was Vereen?

Why is Edelman playing RB?

Seems like we have other guys. I guess it was all in good intent on fooling the Bill's defense.

There were definitely some bigger goats in today's game than Edelman, but I guess my anger level is high right now, so I am attempting to be both rational and vengeful from this loss. Don't get me wrong, Ochocinco was pitifully bad today, but Edelman has now had enough time to make an impact.

So, this is not really an issue that was just today, but something I have wondered over the past two years. Should Edelman (or Ay-delman) really have been a lock to make the roster?

I think it's clear that Edelman will never be anything close to Welker, except in his physical resemblance. I don't even think he should be on the field on offense; it seems that every time a ball in thrown to him, you can always expect something bad to happen, or at best, an incompletion. While Edelman is pretty good at punt returns/kickoffs, he certainly is nothing special there either; he's quick, but how many guys around the NFL could easily exceed his current production there? As a special teams returner specialist, I don't think he justifies a roster spot, considering his offensive output is never going to be anything notable.

You want to pull the plug on Edleman? Who should have return duties then? He's fine for depth. Want to know who they should pull the plug on? That idiot Chad ocho-stinks-a-lot

Wow, that's clever.

Yeah! The Chad apologist is here.

I've said it since he was signed. HE DOES NOT FIT HERE.

I wonder if you were this critical about, say, Jabar Gaffney?

The extent to which I'm apologizing for Ocho is my sincere hope that he reveals you for the mindless reactionary that you are. It's been abundantly clear that you've had a grudge against him from the moment he signed here and it's similarly apparent you get your jollies from wishing failure on the guy.

It seems that your wheelhouse is to ***** and moan about everything under the sun. Might I suggest finding some positive elements to the team; it might make your experience a bit more enjoyable and your posts slightly more bearable to read.

1) no, I was not as critical of Gaffney. However, comparing Gaffney to Chad Ocho-supposed-to-be-all-pro is stupid.

2) No grudge, just knew he would not fit and it's been proven correct so far. Sorry that offends you.

3) You want positive? I will never worry about the offense. It keeps on churning.

4) Ignore my posts and keep waving your Chad pom-poms if my posts bother you so much.

However, comparing Gaffney to Chad Ocho-supposed-to-be-all-pro is stupid.

That's simply because the purpose of the comparison eludes you. Because you don't care about being rational; you decided you didn't like the guy and that's pretty much the depth of your reasoning.

All I'm asking is for a little more thoughtfulness and a little less spleen.

I agree with JB on Ochocinco. He's off to a rough start, but he's, by all accounts, working his butt off to understand the offense. Maybe he just isn't that intelligent with Xs and Os and won't work out; maybe it will just take more time for him to fit in. I don't know. What I do know is that Ochocinco has the potential to make the Patriots better; had he made a catch he makes 19 times out of 20, he'd be a hero from yesterday's game, and he will make that catch. There is a role for him on this team, and if he doesn't work out, so be it.

Meanwhile, Edelman had more receiving yards in his first game in 2009 against the Jets than he has in the rest of his career combined. He has 100 yards in the last 33 regular season games. Explain to me why having him on the field benefits this team in any way. I'd much rather have Slater stretching the field or Ochocinco, even at his worst, because of the upside and valuable game experience he is getting. Hopefully Price will heal up, because I think he is the ideal fit for 3rd WR anyway.

Edelman has done VERY well when stepping in for Welker, in the Jets game as well as the Ravens gave he was targeted and he performed. That should tell you that he can get it done. Ocho has not shown that he can get it done.

That said, the lack of effective running is what poisioned out offense yesterday, I don't know why you can't see that, did your girlfriend run off with Edelman or what?
