Ventrone is in primarily for ST. I would be surprised to see him at safety at all. He is not an NFL caliber player.

so we have 2 primary STeamers on our starting DB list this week. Jesus:eek:

Meriweather borderline cancer

Sanders I was never a fan of.

Don't knock Ventrone until the dude is given a fair shot.

Is Mills playing TE??? my guess is no now right? or do we still have 1 spot open?

I still don't get it. How in the world can a STer be better off a starting safety. EVERY ONE of the safety we released is STARTING for other nfl teams now. Cancer / no cancer but they have experience in pats system and WILL definitely be better than the scrubs that are going to start tomorrow.

I did NOT know he was a STeamer until some 1 brought it up a couple posts ago

No, I think Chung will be still be in there. Ross is just going to be DB depth against a spread offense that Buffalo will deploy.

He'll be released on Tuesday and Gronk 2.0 will probably be picked back up (if he's healthy). It's all situational football with this club. We needed a DB this week against a spread offense more then we needed a gimpy 2nd TE.

Nothing more, nothing less.

I would prefer that Ventrone blow up the Bills, and the Pats cut Ihedigbo instead. ;)

Personally, I like what i have seen from Barrett, Chung, and Sergio Brown, but I have no faith in Ventrone. If he does play, I hope he surprises everyone and I can take comfort in the fact that we have survived opponents that have put up all kind of yards the last two weeks.

Its like BB is conditioning me in some weird way not to care if our secondary gets carved up. Rivers or any other elite qb carves us up and I'm like "so what, any qb can do that".

Here is one of my whacked out thoughts. After teams play us like the Giants in 07, Packers in 10, Cardinals in 08, Colts in 08 etc they get this renewed confidence and get hot but now with the way our secondary is playing they aren't going to really be sure where they stand. This theory will hold true if the Chargers get blown out by the Chiefs tomorrow.

Is Tank Williams in shape???.....this safety group is simply Ghastly...

I think that Belichick is fine with our seven defensive backs. Ihedigbo played quite a bit last week. Chung will be back soon; also the casts will come off.

Bodden, McCourty, Dowling, Arrington
Barrett, Brown, Ihedigbo
=========================

Ventrone is all about Special Teams. With so many injuries in the defensive backfield, Belichick apparently thought that we needed more help. We also brought up Tarp and signed Molden for special teams. I suspect that Adams is the emergency #8 defensive back.

I don't expect to see Ventone playing safety tomorrow.
===========================
The BOTTOM LINE is that with so many out because of injuries, more special teamers are able to be active.

I have it from a real good source that Belickick likes Ross a lot. He actually almost made the team out of camp despite being out with an injury for the first couple of weeks. He got cut during camp because he was dinged up with a hand shack agreement that once he was healthy he would be brought back. While he was out 2 other teams called his agent and wanted to sign him during camp but he stuck to his word to Bill that once healthy he would come back to the Pats. He played the last preseason game at corner and did a pretty god job. At cut down day he he was told that he would be on the practice squad but that he had a good shot of being called up fairly soon into the season. And thats whats happening now.

Now I'm not saying he is going to come in and be an impact guy on defense. I think he will mainly play special teams. But his brother Ray has been in the league for years as a big time special teams guy and backup safety and Ross has a shot at being that kind of guy too.
