We couldn't stop the run in 2010 (or not very well). We changed systems. We added Haynsworth. We are now rock-solid with THREE successful goal-line stands in two games. This unit will only improve as the year progresses.

WILFORK, HAYNSWORTH, PRYOR, LOVE
Solid and immovable

That Goal Line Stand vs SD got me Fired up :rocker:

The goal line stands and Miami's 3rd down conversions.

We aren't stacked at DT anymore

2 weeks in.... 2 DLinemen gone.

Mike Wright had a potentially career ending concussion. Probably wont see him again.

Myron Pyror.... someone who I thought was playing very well in preseason and week 1... Now on the IR.

So who's left?

Wilfork, Haynesworth, Kyle Love, Landon Cohen.

Wilfork is good.

Haynesworth is due for atleast 1 injury per year. As good as he was, he's never played a full season.

Love and Cohen seeing a significant amount of snaps is trouble for us IMO.

In the midst of all this, I'm scratching my head wondering why Gerard Warren was released. He started last year and looked good throughout the entire preseason.

Re: We aren't stacked at DT anymore

Wouldn't write Mike Wright off yet. But, if he goes to IR. Ron Brace!!

Re: We aren't stacked at DT anymore

BTW, who is Warren playing for? Is he starting?

Have to agree. Thought we would have brought Warren back by now.

I have to think that Love is starting for Lawnmower man Haynesworth by year end.

Re: We aren't stacked at DT anymore

I think that you underestimate just how good it is to Wilfork and Haynsworth in the middle. We've have THREE goal-line stands. Teams pass against us on 4th and 1 or 2.

You also underestimate the value of Love and Cohen at DT.

Love played OK last year at backup NT and DE. He seems much more comfortable as a DT. Perhaps, it is simply that he is better because of the experience. In any case, he's playing fine.

Many here wanted Cohen to make the 53. He did well late last year. He seems well suited being a DT. We could do a lot worse with our backup, #4 DT.

Finally, Brace could be back. A 335 pound DT with lots of talent makes much more sense to me than a developing 335 DE who was the slowest lineman in his draft class.

BOTTOM LINE
We have gone from awesome to great or very good.
WILFORK, HAYNSWORTH, LOVE, COHEN/BRACE

Shaun Ellis is like 300 pounds. He can slide into the position if necessary. He was a good run stopper as 5 technique in the Jets 3-4 defense so I have no doubt that he can hold up against the run as a 4-3 DT too.

Just like my azz.

Added: The performance of the interior D-line has been commendable so far. I can't wait until they face the (likely Mangold-less ) J-E-T-S JETS JETS JETS.
