Patriots homers should not say this, but I thought the Jets looked very good last week.. their D, seems even better than last year. Sanchez has more weapons...

Should be a battle in two weeks..

I watched that full game if not for that Jags QB throwing the ball right at the jets players the game would of been closer...

The Jets look very good and are extremely confident. Can we give Brady time to throw?

No Hernandez and no Mangold.

jets @ 3  (there are a few teams better than the jets right now)
lions at 11  (expected them to be ranked higher than 11)
Power rankings are an epic fail for 2 reasons:

1) Too much carryover from previous years. If you knew nothing about what happened prior to this season, you'd probably have to put the Lions in the top 3 (if not the overall top spot). But since they are historically so poor, they get downgraded more than they deserve.

2) WAY too much emphasis on the most recent game. Chicago and Atlanta are both 1-1. Chicago whupped Atlanta big time. But since their most recent games were a Chicago loss and Atlanta win, Atlanta goes higher in the rankings.

Power rankings are a pathetic joke. But what's even more pathetic is that in college football, power rankings decide the national championship. Thankfully we don't suffer that in the NFL.

And yet you did.

Homers can have an opinion.. the Jets looked good, to say they looked bad would be a lie.. Sanchez still makes poor decisions, but has more weapons to make bad decisions with.. and their D looks really good. Should be an interesting opponent.

It is what it is..

I don't know if the Jets truly are the third best team in football, but there sure aren't many teams who got to a Conference title game last year performing at their level so far.

Sun 9/25 Oakland Raiders at Oakland 4:05 pm
Sun 10/2 Baltimore Ravens at Baltimore 8:20 pm
Sun 10/9 New England Patriots at New England 4:15 pm
Mon 10/17 Miami Dolphins Miami 8:30 pm
Sun 10/23 San Diego Chargers San Diego 1:00 pm

That's the Jets schedule to their bye. Teams playing back to back road games win a low percentage of the second game. We're their 3rd in a row. If they can come out of this stretch 2-3 I'd call it a good job everything considered. If they do better than that they are in it for the long haul.

the only team which i think the jets will beat in this list are the fins......but then again you never know..

Can't disagree more with this statement. They have HUGE question marks on offense AND defense. Just a few things that MIGHT change your mind.

1. Against a good offense (Cowboys) AT HOME, the Jet pass defense was WORSE that the Pats pass defense in Miami.

2. Their offense really didn't do ANYTHING other than a great first drive against a very sub par Jags team,

4.They don't have a RB who has a ypc of 3.O. That right it wasn't a misprint.

5. Sanchez's accuracy has marginally improved, but his tendency to throw the balll to the DBs is STILL as bad as ever

6. Holmes and Keller are legit passing threats as good as anyone's but Plexico didn't have a catch last week and Mason seems like he's lost something off his fast ball.

7. The once great OL can't move ANYONE off the ball, and keeps Sanchez on the move all the time.

8. Once teams start to figure out that the Jets can't run the ball, how effective is the play action pass game going to be. Remember the play action pass WAS the best part of the Jets offense9

9. We showed that if you really want to you can shut down a TE. Gates IS the best in the league. What would happen if Sanchez doesn't have Keller to save him time and again.

BTW - ne of the dumbest moves I have ever seen by an NFL coach occurred in the Jag/Jets game. After Mangold gets hurt. He is replaced by an UDFA who had been with the Jets for just 2 weeks.

NOT ONCE in the first half (which is what I watched) did the Jags put any pressure on that kid. NOT ONCE did they put a NT or blitz a LB on the C. For at least the first half they stayed in a 4-3 with the DTs playing outside shoulder of the G's gving this untried kid literally a free pass. I couldn't believe he didn't make SOME kind of adjustment

Also, don't forget, you should also place alot more stock in beating up on a cupcake at home when compared to winning by 14 points at home vs a top three team.

I don't know what to think about the Jets. Right now they look worse than last year even after blowing out the Jags.

Their running game has been non-existent. Their o-line looks to take a step back even before Mangold went down because Wayne Hunter has been a turnstyle. Sanchez is only throwing to Holmes and Keller. Mason only had one catch for 7 yards and Plax was shut out. I think they have less weapons than last year. Without a running game and losing weapons from last year along with a weaker o-line, they look worse on offense this year than last year.

Their defense had a great game on Sunday and a mediocre one the previous week. Romo passed all over that defense. The Jets never really pressured him all that much. The defense this past weekend stymied the Jags' offense. Now was that the Jets' defense or Luke McCown? The Jags with McCown may be one of the worst offenses in the league. There is a reason he has had 9 starts since he came into the league in 2004.

I think we will learn a lot about the Jets over the next few weeks with three tough road games. I haven't been impressed with them thus far and they look to have more weaknesses than last year, but it is only week three. So many weaknesses get fixed over the first month.

Blowing out a team whose QB is Luke McCown seems to be a little easier than playing a team of corpses!

Where are these more weapons? Plax was shut out last game. Mason had one pass for 7 yards. Every other player who caught passes on Sunday were on the team last year and other than Holmes and Keller, none of them caught more than two balls or got over 10 yards receiving. Keller is having Pro Bowl season thus far, but for the most part the Jets' only weapons are the same ones he had last year. Plax has yet to show he is an upgrade over Edwards and Mason has yet to show he is an upgrade over Cotchery.

The Jets defense looked mediocre on opening night and really good this past Sunday.

I don't know. I watched The Walking Dead last year and I could have sworn I saw a few zombies who might be better QBs than McCown.
