Wes Welker appreciation thread

Brady, you can obviously tell, has a lot of faith in him, even though 12 threw him in harms way more than a couple times.

The kid is tough, his work ethic and attitude are world caliber, he takes nothing for granted (IMO an important side effect of an injury - appreciation).

He is an important part of this offense and he is a great example of of a team leader.

He deserves a healthy new contract. 11 is good too but no 83, not yet nor in the next couple years, albeit 11 is developing quite nicely.

Pay the man, he truly desreves a new contract sooner rather than later...

Nothing against Mankins contract BS aside, but they should have named Welker a captain on offense considering they allowed Moss to achieve that distinction more than once upon a time... Wes is the epitome of what Brady needs to play with, guys who never lose focus in the best or toughest of times and are both mentally and physically tough as nails. I love that when someone asked him to gush over the TE's last night he didn't take the bait. Rather he talked about how important it will continue to be to keep them focused and consistently productive and working hard to insure they don't have bad games.

Pure, focused veteran leadership. I think that 81 needs to heed the advice.

Wes Welker is one of the toughest and most stubborn (in a good way) football players I've ever watched. I love the guy and hope they extend his arse.

I was really surprised that the dolphins blitzed on that play knowing there were 5 wide-receivers.

Their choices are blitz and pray or get picked apart. At that point they were probably happy to get the 99-yard drive over in 1 play instead of 15.

My Gawd in that middle embedded vid, Brady looks like (Gulp!!!) Maroney dancing around in the pocket!:eek::eek:

Really sucks when you're at the stadium and those plays happen to your team. The ball is snapped and you see it coming before the ball is thrown ... and it hurts. I would love to see a panorama of the Dolphin fans faces as Tom threw that ball.

Did you see all of those fans behind the dolphins bench jumping up and down celebrating the play? There must be a lot of Pats fans in Miami.

When a team has to prepare for crowd noise at home, I would say yeah, there is quite a few!

As much as I love Welker's game and everything he brings to the club, Im sure I still under appreciate the guy. This thread should be about 19 pages long, but it wont. It'll be 4 or 5. Because Welker himself would want it that way.

Oh, BTW: Welker just tied Ben Coates' franchise record of 63 consecutive games played with at least one reception. :rocker:

Welker should have had another fifty yards in receptions today...I was up close...he got no calls on blatant, unmistakable PI at least five times...I think there is this wink wink nod nod agreement across the league among the officiating crews to ignore a lot of what WAS clear pass interference by rule.

Welker recalled his first conversation with coach Bill Belichick after the Pats traded for the former Dolphin.

“It was just kinda, ‘Hey, how ya doing?’ ” Welker recalled on NFL Network. “He kinda shrugged me off like I was just some guy. I was like, ‘OK. Looking forward to playing for your team. OK. All right. Like, OK.’ A little awkward, but it worked out.”

Lol. Bill
