Media driven Hyperreaction.

It's a valid point, but one that could've been better stated without the vehemence. In other words..."Lighten up, Francis".

Bru has more insider information that I have. So, I'd have to know what he knows in order to make an educated decision on the matter.

If Tedy knows as much as I do, I say let's see what happens after a couple of weeks and where Ocho is in playing/learning the system. If Tedy knows what's goign on in the locker room, then he's sending the message that any leader in that locker room would send.

I would think as a media guy, Bruschi would want more tweets as it makes his job easier (well maybe not, I would hope he'd have as much insider info as anyone, though there are few people left on the team he played on)

Which again...brings us to the main point. What business is it of Tedy Brushi to be involved with the lockerroom of the New England Patriots?

He's an ESPN analyst.

How many people on this site get to be intimately involved in the business of former employers?

Based on the info available, it appears that Tedy and Rodney are taking advantage of their status as esteemed former players to further their media careers.

Bruschi is an ESPN Analyst.

Making newsworthy comments that draw on his past experience is part of his new job.

He's just doing his job.

I think its better that they do it than a teammate......

I wouldn't say that this isn't bruschi's team anymore.......it'll always be his team....he was a lifer and so what if he's an espn analyst.....he's a patriot for life...... especially when one so well epitomizes the philosophy of the current front office.

if haynesworth can buy in, then ocho needs to STFU and just focus on the task at hand.......nobody is paying him to be in awe......and while its nice to be heaping so much praise on your employer, it would really be better for all involved for him to focus on how what it is that he does best can help his team.

You are correct and that's the problem.

I don't think he over reacted. If anything, I hope his reaction lights a fire under Chad's butt and he gets his act together. Some people say "give him a break, he hasn't had much time to learn the Pats difficult system", ok fine, but Woodhead didn't seem to have any problem learning it in a week.

I have no problem with Bruschi's comments. His job is to make buzz provoking comments aboutb the NFL. He did his job, all you have to do is look at the 200+ posts in the other thread. Its the big media topic of the day locally and nationally concerning the Pats

But in reality its really just a tempest in a teapot. Monday night in Miami the game plan was to go 2 TEs and 2 WRs as the base package. Just WHERE was Ocho supposed to play. Certainly at this stage of the season he wasn't going to beat out Branch or Welker. At this point of the season he is the #3 WR. Monday that translated into 18 snaps, 3 targets and one catch (a very nice one BTW).

The real issue is that there IS no issue. It simply wasn't a game plan where the #3 WR was in a position to shine.and side from the penalty, Chad DID HIS JOB. Isn't that EVERY Patriot player is SUPPOSED to do? This is ANOTHER example of the media and fans creating an issue rather than there actually being one.

If Chad HADN'T tweeted anything that night, the big headline would have been, "Chad doesn't tweet. He must be pouting about not being a factor in a record setting performance. Then Felger would have commented. "I saw him on the sideline and he wasn't sitting on Brady's lap. That CONFIRMS it. Ocho is upset." THEN WEEI's big show opens their show with the opening. Media sources CONFIRM that Ocho is upset about not getting the ball enough.

This would be funny if it wasn't so close to the truth

Honestly, I'm just tired of the entire situation and all of the attention given to this topic. If he gets better, fine, if he doesn't, well we'll survive.

I don't like the way Bruschi went about it. At all.

As many people have pointed out, you don't wear #54 anymore. You make sure your windsor knot is centered and taut. Tedy also seems like a guy who spends plenty of time around the Pats even after retiring. That's great, we should keep a strong connection with our dedicated alumnus. But, since Tedy already spends time around the team, if he really wanted to say this, he'd of had the chance without making a big deal of it and bringing negative press towards the team.

I don't disagree with the ultimate message, but as Marshall McLuhan said, "the medium is the message".

Bruschi will never just be an nfl analyst to me, even if getting hits for his websites is his job these days.

Bruschi's being a little bit lousy picking on this guy in such a way. Just very heavy handed. Yes, he need sto get with the program...he's probably trying but just isn't smart enough to learn it. He goes from being a prima donna in a simple system to a cog in a complex one. I hope for his sake he's trying as hard as he can staying late for "extra help" from coaches or whatever....but piling on publically probably won't help him.

His tweet was pretty innocuous don't see how that indicates that "he's just watching cause he's not learning" or whatever.

You have to know when to give a man a pat on the back and when to kick him in the rear, not sure it's bruschi's place to do either though really.

Overreaction. Just like WEEI and (especially) 98.5 talking most of day about Chad's 1 catch in 1st game, then projecting out 5 or 6 games, at which point he will be a malcontent and Brady will still not trust him. Gets tiring. Noone talks about the game, just the personalities.

Bruschi is not a NFL analyst he is a new england patriots analyst, the only time he gets on TV is when he's talking about the pats so if does not have anything news worthy to say about he's former team he does not have a job

It’s a huge over-reaction, me thinks an emotional one. Tedy has a lot of love and emotional investment in his Patriots, and when he someone like Chad, with his history of behavior being as opposite from “the Patriot way” as you can get he’s going to react extra-negative when he doesn’t see any results and probably presume the worst.

By all accounts Chad has been a model citizen and has been spending every waking minute trying to learn and improve, and it’s just been a matter of weeks that he’s been in the system, what would one expect from a rookie that had that little time and no familiarity with how the Pats do things?

Amen. He has found his role on the team, the #3 wideout, so lets not pay any more attention to the #3, when he plays lets see how he does but I'm sick of hearing about him.

If a guy like Jabar Gaffney can come in here in 2006, learn the system and start performing in game one, then Ocho with his 10 years of experience must have a learning disability.
