Fred Taylor to retire as Jacksonville Jaguars RB after 13 NFL seasons - ESPN

Nice ending to a great career for the best athlete in Jags history and a nice way to retire.

He wasn't much of anything in NE as the term 'Fragile Freddy' reared its ugly head and was the case so we never really got to see much of Taylor's contributions which I think a healthy hard running Taylor might have increased our chances in the playoffs.

I actually thought he retired months ago

I wish we would have done a 1 day sign and retire with Willie Mac or Ty Law

Shame he was so injured with us he seemed to be a class act and team player all the way. Good job by the Jags to bring him back to retire there, props to their org.

I was so hyped when he was signed. Shame that health was an issue and we never got to see the best of Fred. Class act.

Taylor made it a point to acknowledge the Patriot organization:

Retiring Taylor thanks Patriots - New England Patriots Blog - ESPN Boston

Taylor thanked coach Bill Belichick "for giving me an opportunity to try to close my career."

"A classy organization," Taylor added. "They really know how to do things. I learned a lot. It was a great experience. Mr. Kraft and the Kraft family, I thank you."

Belichick had some kind words for Taylor as well:

"I thought he was a tremendous example for the younger players. He had a great attitude, a great work ethic [and was] very professional," Belichick said. "I think he added a lot to our team in those two years. He wasn’t able to contribute as much on the field as he or we would have liked, but as far as being professional and doing everything the right way and being a great example – not just to the younger players but really all the players – he was exemplary.

"It was really a privilege for me to coach him. He’s had a tremendous career. He’s a tremendous player and he deserves all the recognition that he’ll be getting. He was outstanding. [He was] a very hard guy to play against and we were very fortunate to have him on our team for a couple of years at the end of his career. We’ve had several guys like that – the Junior Seaus and the Fred Taylors and guys like that – and they’ve brought a lot to us at that time and we were fortunate to have them."

He was a gigantic waste of 5 million.

Fantastic RB brought to the Pats in the twilight of his career. A class act who hopefully will join the Hall of Fame one day.

I really think somehow by his knowledge and experience in the game he helped youngsters like Woodhead and BJGE both on and off the field.

Top notch guy, even if he was irrelevant as a player that was rarely on the field.

Still can't believe he only made one pro bowl. Great player. He's all class.

I always liked Fred and appreciate a very nice career....but.....I am going on record to predict that he signs the contract, injures himself during the signing and goes on IR to finish his career....

Class player, too bad he didn't get a ring here.
