Wow, other than maybe that little guy out of Florida 10 or 12 years back who did not stick with the team, have we ever had a faster time for a 100 in a running back?

I would have a lot more confidence in his physical makeup for picking up a blitzer than Woodhead.

Woodhead proved himself to be effective running the draw and catching out of the backfield last year. We will need to wait to see what Shane can prove.

Here's a nice little irony for you: Danny Woodhead is that faster RB. Faster in the 40, and faster in the collegiate 100m (10.5).

Ummm if Kevin Faulk is 5'10, 210 I am a 7ft 300lb Asian woman. (I am actually 5'3 an 98lbs) I assume you are talking about Marshall Faulk???

While Vereen's play style my be similar to K. Faulk, he is certainly no clone.

Welcome to the board from Revere!(don't get nervous...i'm 60,impudent and impotent).

Just wondering....5'3 98lbs?....ummmm.....can YOU rush the passer????

Sweet, can't wait to see what this kid can do.

I stood next to Faulk on the grass field. He's 5' 8" max. on a good day.

So, you're Woodhead's size? :)

93lbs??????? Jeez lol

This was the draft pick which I was most excited about on draft day.
The great thing about Vereen was that he carried the Cal offense. He was durable as a workhorse back carrying the rock for an insane amounts once Jahvid Best got injured. Indeed in 2009 he was voted as Cal's offensive Bear Backers Co-MVP along with Best. He seemed to be Cal's one and only threat in 2010 and must have been the main focus of any opposing defense's game plan yet he still produced.

This was the draft pick which I was most excited about on draft day. His versatility is what I am most psyched about. I am not looking for a big impact on the stat sheet necessarily, partly due to the RBBC but more how his inclusion in the backfield will impact opposing defensive schemes. With Gronk, Hernandez and Vereen in the same lineup, it could provide a major headache for the opposition in terms of personnel mismatch and pre-snap adjustments. He was split out as a receiver a few times and if he can translate that to the pros, then look out.

Vereen may not be the fastest RB to ever play for the Patriots, but he could probably beat them all in the weight room. He benched 225 lbs. 31 times at the NFL Scouting Combine.

Vareen reminds me nothing of K. Faulk. Faulk is a 3rd down specialist who's a very good blocker and good pass catcher. Vareen is an in between the tackles runner who has the potential to be a good catcher and pass blocker. Faulk catches short to intermediate routes. Vareen has the ability to catch the intermediate to deep routes.

Vareen, by the end of his career, will remind more people of M. Faulk than K. Faulk.

1) Vareen is spelled VEREEN as in Ben Vereen

2) Vereen has not played a down in the NFL and you are already saying he will remind people more of a HOF RB?

Wow!

i'd say Mike Reiss size. i saw a pic of Mike next to Welker and Welker seemed like a giant.

Wow!

Maybe he means that Vereen will be a bitter, hateful TV personality.

Wow!

I'm saying he's going to be nothing like K. Faulk, more like Marshall. M. Faulk was mentioned once in this thread and people are trying to compare him to K. Faulk. He's close to M. Faulk than K. Faulk in terms of running style.

Ok,gotcha

But If Vereen has even near half the career that Marshall Faulk had, then Brady can play until he is 45 since he won't have to pass nearly as much to move the chains.

great news. Ridley was supposed to be the big bruising guy, that doesn't seem to be the case, he's shiftier than anyone thought.

Ya according to the puffed-up big-ego "Experts" on this forum; you should have heard then howling like the Sabine Virgins when Ridley was picked.

These are the same experts who ranted against me when I said the Brace pick was a "disaster" and that Ty Warren was a dope for going back to school instead of staying with the team.

Had to look that one up. :D

Wow!

Vareen is like a Emmitt Smith/Adrian Peterson hybrid.

I read that before he got hurt he looked fast.

Then perhaps you should start watching the New England Patriots, cuz Danny Woodhead wasn't a liability. That is ridiculous.

Welcome MM

Youre are going to fit in around here nicely.

Totally agree that Vereen seems to be cut from the M. Faulk/T. Barber cloth as a shifty back who can do a little of everything. (Not putting him in their class yet, obviously, just saying they're the models.)

And Kevin Faulk is 5' 7 5/8" -- EXACTLY the same height as Danny Woodhead. I've never understood why fans and media make such a big deal out of Woodhead's height.

Because he's white and fast and he looks like he's 12 years old?

Bob Sanders is 5' 8".

MJD is 5' 7".

Darren Sproles is 5' 6".
