Just out of curiosity, what leads people to believe a suspension (particularly 4 games or more) is coming? What precedent are you leaning on? Ben got his because he was seriously damaging the league's image on a very large scale. Not to diminish Haynesworth's inappropriate behavior, but it's not nearly the story that Ben's issues were. The accusations are totally different.

Players rarely get suspensions of 4 games or more for anything other than banned substance abuse. I'm no expert, but I would be surprised (and perhaps indignant) if Haynesworth got more than a game or two, if anything.

re: Haynesworth sentencing & league response (merged)

This also happened during the lockout and the league has yet to say whether they will be punishing players who got in trouble during the lockout.

I think it happened in February so before the lockout.

re: Haynesworth sentencing & league response (merged)

I am hoping Goodell's punishment is a strict 4 week Low Fat,No Carb diet for Haynesworth

I think Albert would rather have a 4 game suspension than that

re: Haynesworth sentencing & league response (merged)

Here's the thing about this supposed "assault": If anyone other than a rich pro athlete were involved do you think it would've gotten this far? Not to excuse Albert for doing something stupid/disrespectful/very naughty, but this "criminal" case smacks of his being set up for a civil suit payday. The "victim" should've taken her $$$ earlier vs. rolling the dice to see if the companion sexual abuse charge might stick. I hope Baddell looks at the whole picture.

re: Haynesworth sentencing & league response (merged)

Here is a decent comparison. Last year Tony McDaniel of the Dolphins was arrested for misdemeanor battery against his girlfriend and was suspended for one game. Given that I would think Albert gets one game or zero.

Edit: The same was the case for Quinn Ojinaka last year as well. Battery=one game.

The only difference is this is not Haynesworth first offense. He could get more based on his past record.

Yeah, we do need to keep in mind the rather large difference between misdemeanor and felony.

Now imagine the girl was your daughter. Let's not tongue in cheek blame the girl for this. He's the idiot who did it.

re: Haynesworth sentencing & league response (merged)

I think it'll be two games....

the reason.....a few folks have said four and some have said none...so I split the difference.

But I also think this is a lesser crime than battery. It also still comes down to he said/she said. Without there being anything more tangible, I find it hard to see why the league would go beyond one game.

re: Haynesworth sentencing & league response (merged)

He didn't plead “sexual assault ” he pleaded to ” one count of simple assault ” This is what he and the DA agreed too ! So he admitted to touching the woman in a non sexual way.

A charge that would apply to someone who pushes someone ?

What about the Security Guard that claims the woman’s attorney offered him $50,000 to testify that it wasn’t consensual even though he thought it was by the way she allowed him to do it and by the way she reacted ?

This may be one of those situations where the $$$ comes into play more then anything else, let's wait to see if more facts come to light !

It’ll be interesting to see the NFL’s reasoning in any suspension considering Harrison got a fine for beating his wife !

Also, the NFL has said the lockout rule doesn't apply in this case, that they're going to look at it !

Shocking...just shocking.

The Patriots signed him in full knowledge of this and other incidents, and the potential for suspension. This would be similar to signing someone already in a program following previous suspension.

I believe he deserves a suspension. It sends a message to him, and to all the players in the league. Want to participate in the NFL? There are standards we like to maintain. Want to act like a thug? Go ahead, but not if you want to play. Hopefully this relatively minor penalty causes a highly talented man to rethink priorities and behavior.

The Patriots were not harmed by this plea. They knew the risks going in, and obviously have depth in preparation. Likely a part of the low compensation to Washington.

re: Haynesworth sentencing & league response (merged)

I love how Florio looks at only the Rothlisberger case and not any others in comparison. Then he makes it seem like if it is anything less than 4-6 games its a favor for Kraft when in reality it is more in line with past disciplinary acts.

re: Haynesworth sentencing & league response (merged)

anything over 2 games is ludicrous. Braylon... what punishment did he get for driving drunk?

If Roger hoses us... like when he took that 1 away. Or he gives AL a 3-5 game suspension. That would be Bullspit:mad:
