OK, I'll start off with my few impressions:

(1) First team O and D . . . :D :D :D

(2) Taxicab squad . . .

(3) Tampa Bay's "chippiness" after getting humiliated . . . :enranged: :ban?:

(4) Woodhead and Fletcher getting injured . . . :( :( :(

May all the injured Patriots recover quickly and completely.

Had to watch the game online. TB feed was much better. Watched that channel. Chris Myers and John Lynch. Pretty good announcing team. What do you mean by TB's antics?

Was Butler good in PS game #2?

After watching the game on TV...

Butler:
I saw at least one good play early on with nice tight coverage.

A broken up pass in maybe the second quarter, where it looked like the receiver was a few steps ahead of him, but he got a hand on it...

Another pass later in the game that he was maybe a little closer to the receiver, but the ball was thrown well and dropped in where he couldn't get it.

Arrington looked much better than Butler and Wilhite. I only noticed Wilhite on one play. Not only was it a completion, but the receiver completely got away from him.

Tampa's antics....dirty hits, etc.
I think.

Sorry. I clarified the OP.

Carter. Oh my god.

Sorry. I clarified the OP.

I thought you meant Tom Brady's antics....LOL... I always call them the Bucs..not Tampa Bay..ha ha...They were chippy IMO too. Myers and Lynch didn't mention that. They interviewed Raheem Morris at the half and you could tell he was pissed. Said even though they had a bad 1st half. Were going to come out and win the game.

Biggest impact on my projected 53: Warren

Carter. Oh my god.

Yes, again I'm so happy BB decided to GET CARTER

and a guy who just might be keeping himself ON the 53 & 46 is Slater. Making catches as at least an emergency capable WR as well as ST ace

I missed the game. How is the DL looking with position battles? Did we run a 3-4 or a 4-3? My dad said he saw them running a 3-4 but he doesn't usually pay much attention. Anything else of significance happen?

Carter applied monster pressure
Mayo would switch to outside and rush the passer...successfully
Pryor looked good
Swarming pass rush D

Wow, just total domination. Hard to single out players.

QB - Brady was in midseason form. Really working the ball to Ochocinco, and hitting #81 again consistently down the field. Oh, that's Hernandez now?

RB - Ridley looks like a feature back. Catches the ball, can pick up a block, runs inside, turns the corner, can convert a fourth and one, and a little shake.

WR - Really deep. This was a game to get Ochocinco involved. Even Slater, and I've not been a fan, looks like a WR, and I'd still considered him a safety until this preseason. Welker got some play. Nothing from Branch yet.

TE - Dominating. Lots of three-TE sets, and the Pats can stack it or go wide. Someone is in a mismatch. Tampa sure didn't know how to cover that formation. Hernandez catches everything, and held on tonight. Gronk features the Wham blocks Graham used to offer. It's like they open a hole in the middle of the line to encourage a LB in, then Wham.

OL - Solder looked pretty good. He gave up one sack on an outside-in move, but otherwise played well, and is surprisingly good as a run blocker. Clearly a superior run blocker so far. Koppen had a hold. Just terrific blocking from the first line.

DL - Tremendous depth. Carter was a missile. They couldn't block him. The line disrupted the run all first quarter, and harassed the QB. Some problems with a rushing QB that can elude four rushers that break free, but that can be gameplanned. Warren looked good. Pryor was constantly four yards deep. Wilfork was in on third down. Someone has to be cut, and could start elsewhere. Just constant pressure, aggressive, deep. Held TB to one-for-eight on third downs in the first half, and generated more penalty yardage from Tampa than they gave up in yards from scrimmage.

LB - This defense allows Mayo to utilize his athleticism. Ninkovich looked quicker. Pretty good tackling.

CB - Arrington playing with the one's. The rush is causing so many poor throws the first string secondary didn't have a ton to do.

S - Brown looked good in his looks.

At least three more helmet-to-helmet hits on Patriots players. Ochocinco was leveled going across the middle, and Woodhead was blindside crushed on a kick return. We might not see Woodhead the next two games. He stood up, but was veering back down in a circle when his teammates grabbed him.

I 100% agree. Good post.

4-3.

welp...now I see what happened in the first half...they plan on ADDING Haynesworth to this D line...??????

good Lord, where did all these big body rushers come from??? And Carter....how did we get him? The Skins let him walk???...wha????

Solder was worth the pick...no question

Saw Connolly playing a lot of 1st team

hey, it's preseason...BUT...TB did NOT envision this...you can tell by how they acted in the 2nd half...looks like the 2011 Vengeance for 2007 tour has kicked off in high gear

Moore,too.....he's going to be tough to cut.

I don't think so. So far Moore has done better in terms of rushing the passer and stopping the run than JC. Someone needs to hold down the LDE (43) spot as a starter and a backup.
Anderson is great but I rather have him as a 3rd down/pass rushing threat.

We're in a numbers crunch,now.....are you saying you think Cunningham might be cut?

I didnt hear much about Bodden, did he play tonight? Do you think he will play nickel and Arrington will start at the corner opposite DMac? Im a huge fan of Chung's but am not completely satisfied with the ball hawking skills of our safeties and their ability to break up the deep pass. I would feel a lot safer with another fast FS back there that can be relied on to break up the deep threats in the big games (ie Manning, Rapistburger etc) That being said, i think the pass rush this year will make our weaker corner's look better ( arrington, butler etc.)
