Re: Pats cut two add TCU OL

Suprised you didn't try to throw in "Patriots add Roth to the roster" as the title.

OT: Ty Warren and Zach Roth

The Pats signed Zach Roth today, who was a RT opposite Marcus Cannon in college. Also today, Zach Roth was carted off the field. What a complete drag for him.

Also, I was listening to SIRIUS today, and Pat Kirwin and Tim Ryan are watching the Denver Broncos practice. Ryan alluded to Ty Warren, mentioning how completely out of shape he was.

Re: Pats cut two add TCU OL

Interesting, but there will be tons of these sorts of things in the next 3 weeks. It's going to look like a turnstile at Pats Practices, and anyone without a program will be out of luck. :)

Re: Pats cut two add TCU OL

Morris is a modest surprise. Wonder whether Ohrnberger's solid showing on Thursday had anything to do with it?

Re: Pats cut two add TCU OL

TCU lineman Roth carted off feld, couldn't finish practice.

Re: Pats cut two add TCU OL

He's playing with the big boys now ;)

Not to be too cynical, but an injury for a marginal UDFA is probably the best piece of luck he can get if the injury is severe enough to put him on the IR. Right now an UDFA has to beat out 30 other guys to get a practice squad job @ 80,000 per year, and 37 other guys to get a rookie minimum job on the active roster. Those are long odds. Hitting the IR gets him one year at rookie minimum when the most probable situation for him is non-football employment as of Sept. 6 if he is not injured enough to go on the IR.

Re: Pats cut two add TCU OL

Why did we cut two? Did someone come off PUP or were we over the limit to begin with?

EDIT: never mind, I saw Light is back on the active roster

Are we trying to assemble the TCU horned frogs team? Should've taken Dalton at #33.

Light being on PUP has nothing to do with the 90 roster limit. He counts against the 90. PUP will only count when they get down to 53. Then they will sit for 7 weeks before they can get activated.

There are two different PUP lists. There is the ACTIVE/PUP list and the RESERVE/PUP. The Active/PUP players can come off at any time prior to the start of the season. Players can only be on the Reserve/PUP list if they ended the pre-season on the ACTIVE/PUP list. Someone put on the RESERVE/PUP list would have to sit for 6 weeks before they can begin practicing. Then the team has 3 weeks to activate that person or put them on the IR.

During the time on the Reserve/PUP, they count against the salary cap, but not against the 53 man roster.

NOTE: there must be an addendum to the CBA that goes into the specific workings of each of the lists because it's not listed in the official CBA.

According to the roster on Wikipedia (which is usually accurate), there are 89 active players and 1 inactive player. Before the regular season begins, do IR players count toward the limit of 90 or is there an open spot?

Morris really isn't that big of a surprise. He only played 4 games last year and has only 11 starts in 5 seasons so it's not like there was any upside with him.

Re: OT: Ty Warren and Zach Roth

I feel sorry the guy, getting carted off the field like that.

Re: Pats cut two add TCU OL

Do you think the O will make this team.

I keep reading write-ups from camp that says he's always losing the one on ones, getting destroyed, etc.

That C/RG position with all the injuries either needs the injured to return or new bodies.

Morris is a modest surprise. Wonder whether Ohrnberger's solid showing on Thursday had anything to do with it?
