Patriots Continue Defensive Scheme Change, Sign 25 More Defensive Linemen
This article is satire and is meant for entertainment purposes only.

Bill Belichick has decided that after all the talk during the lockout about the Patriots lack of pass rush, he's creating a monster defensive unit to take into the 2011 season.

I dunno... seems to me that plastering SATIRE all over the article and the page it's on kinda takes the fun out of it...

Believe me. That was very, very necessary.

Thanks, that was actually less than clear from the article.

I'm sure it was.

I lurk here a lot, and I'm certain that there would be way too many folks who'd believe it was real.

THAT would have been fun to watch, I think. :D

If it was me, I wouldn't have said it was satire, and I also wouldn't have corrected anyone who thought it was real afterward. Would've just sat back and watched the fireworks. But that's just me.

I think that policy would be very helpful for a number of readers on this site.

We should append:
The following post is irony, and is intended to be witty for those in the know
The following post is hyperbole - I don't believe the crap I'm typing
The following post is internet hostility - I would never dare speak this way in public
The following post is my opinion - yes, I am questioning our three-time Super Bowl winning coach on a specific issue, but I still consider myself a fan
The following post is blind homerism - see all the caps and rocker emoticons I used?
The following post is analysis - I actually looked stuff up and am using fact to support my supposition

OK, maybe we don't need that last one.

The preceding post was sarcasm, by the way.

My guess is they'd rather not be cited as a creditable source, or sued because they made up direct quotes.

Trust me, it is needed. I learned that After I wrote an article on Bleacher report were Garcia was quoted about using his bye week "to have heterosexual sex with my wife and really, really like it too." When some editor moved it from satire to opinion the comments were how he is in denial.

I'm just glad I saw before his lawyers.

The good news is that despite Wall Street's recent losses The Onion's stock probably just rose 40%

“it’s tough to throw to them if they’re on the ground,” said belichick.

I actually just had a coworker who reads the site actually come over and stop me in a panic, asking, "if they really cut Devin McCourty and those other guys?" after reading it. :ugh:

See?

Now that there is fun.

See?

Now that there is fun.

No kidding. It just reaffirms the fact that having the disclaimer is clearly necessary - even if people still don't even read it.
