I'm not expecting a lot out of him and am actually dissapointed to have to grab a player from the Jester's scrap heap to get the help BB thinks we need.

Really kind of a "meh" to me.

So we should give woodhead back?

More depth on the line. I like it

As a Jets fan with tons of respect for the Pats and Brady...this isnt a big deal, Ellis had a great game in playoffs but was really nowhere to be found all year.

Over the years the Jets have made some personnel decisions to combat Brady and the Pats...kinda nice to see the Pats doing the same...with Haynesworth, Ellis, etc...beefing up the DL....cuz...lets be honest..Mangold and Co..really didnt have a problem running the rock...

I sense the JET TROLLS won't be around for a long time bahaha

"Mr Electric View Post
Shaun Ellis can go f uck himself if he wants to go be fourth stringer on the New England Patriots instead of the team that gave him everything".

Book the nursing home quick ... These guy are older than Elvis.

This off season has been fun. mainly because it's getting under jets fans skins. Losing nnamdi, pats getting haynesworth and ocho as well as stealing ellis from them. :rocker:

I hear you, Titan, and welcome to the board.

However, I have to disagree with you a bit on the notion that these additions to the D-Line are with the Jets in mind. I really think they have more to do with the fact that BB is finally trying to do what we've all been clamoring for and that's improve the pressure on the QB. People tend to only think of edge rushing as a means to create pressure, but pressure up the middle is almost always overlooked. Anyone who really knows the game will tell you that pressure up the middle is the most effective way to make a passer, especially a pure pocket passer, uncomfortable.

I think that's the main reason Haynesworth was brought in. BB has added a few edge guys as well, but I think they were mainly brought in to complement the inside strength. It is looking very likely that the Pats will run more 4-man line than anything else this season.

Fills a pressing need: team captains for the Jets games.

How does this make sense? "Woulda been nice to have him, but I doubt he will be that effective. Nothing to worry about, just another scrub that the Patriots will have picked up this year."

It would have been nice to retain a non-effective scrub that no one worries about?

I really dont think Jets fans are worried about Ocho...he's been stuck on Revis Island for 3 years

a scrub??? No way you r just PISSED OFF:) he gave us fits in your 1 and only Playoff victory vs. the JESTERS. Rex Ryan is a joke and I hope ellis has a NYJ playbook that would be HILARIOUS:rocker::rocker::rocker:

Yup. Jet fans aren't worried about him at all and very few are worried about Haynesworth for the simple fact he hasn't played actual football in 2 years. Losing Aso and Ellis though definitely ticked the fan base off.

I'm curious to see how much he's making for the Pats. We only offered him the vet minimum, so I'd imagine NE offered a tad bit more. Otherwise it makes little sense to me that he would switch teams, especially one that he's voiced such displeasure for in his tenure here in NY.

He was playing in cincinnati for those 3 years and has now moved to the best QB in the league

Great offseason for the Pats. If this team faced the Jets again in the playoffs, Mark Sanchez would be pressured and the receivers would get open. This Patriots team is destined for a big year. Anything less than a playoff win and super bowl berth will be a disappointment this season.

This is a good move, makes for a real dog fight along the defensive line.

Yes, hopefully without Mikey Vick's "rape stand" and other paraphernalia. Seriously though -

1. How is the Jets' releasing him any different than the Pats releasing any of our "past-his-prime" vets? Ellis was offered the vet minimum and he declined. I've heard Mohamed Wilkerson was highly regarded in the draft and could replace Ellis.

2. This highlights how much Ty Warren may have dropped off - he is much younger and in his prime compared to Ellis, but we just let him walk away.

3. I hope Ellis has a few games left in him like he brought against us in the AFCDG. It looked like no one on our line could contain him.

Rexy sounds upset! LOL

RT @TheJetsStream: Rex on Shaun Ellis: "The fact that he chose them.. there's no way I'm going to wish him well. There's no chance of that."
