A conservative appraisal but fully justified, You left off Mesko, Ridley, Mallett, Deaderick, Pryor & Edleman.

Really amazing when you look at it.

Yes!!

I left those guys off deliberately, but they were specifically included in the comment about Depth.

However, I heartily agree with you: they are also VITAL to our potential Glory!!

Believe it or not, I was actually reigning it in a bit!!

Fleeting Dominance...Fleeting Glory

Most FootBall Dynasties get only one shot at it.

The Browns of the 50's.

The Lions of the 50's.

The Packers of the 60's.

The Steelers of the 70's.

The Miners of the 80's.

The CowBoys of the 90's.

Every one of these teams won an impressive series of Championships in a short period of time...But every last one of them, with the sole exception of the Miners, were completely done after 7 to 9 years...And while the Miners hung on and pulled one more out'f their hat in 1994, they were clearly no longer the Alpha Team, having been supplanted by the CowBoys...and for them the ensuing years have been grim, indeed.

***

My point is this: the nature of FootBall is absolutely brutal, most so to those who succeed: The Evolution of Strategies, the most innovative and disruptive of which often take several years to produce these brief periods of dominance, ultimately produce counter strategies that eventually thwart and ultimately obliterate the hard earned advantages of the entrenched architects of that dominance. Thus, it's no coincidence that great teams tend to go a long, long time before returning to The Top.

But I believe that we're about to witness a dramatic exception.

Dawn of a Dynasty's Renaissance

You see: Every last one of those Dynasties were eventually allowed to grow old.

The New England Patriots??

Not so much.

***

Coach Bill Belichick and the New England Patriots ~ via an unprecedented series of advantageous Draft Day Trades ~ have unleashed an astonishing TIDAL WAVE of young, powerfull, and brilliant Talent...And its lead elements have now, collectively, reached a Critical Mass of Experience and Applied Talent where ~ in joining forces with extraordinary veterans such as Tom Brady, Vince Wilfork, Jerod Mayo, and others ~ they are poised to simply sweep the rest of the league away.

2 Outrageous Predictions

I'm predicting 2 things to transpire in the next 3 years:

1 ~ The Patriots are about to become the first team ever to win 3 consecutive Super Bowls.

2 ~ The Patriots will soon become the first team ever to go 19-0.

***

Full Disclosure: I am a full-blooded Yankee ~ a native of New England.

And I am an unrepentant guzzler of Patriot Kool Aid!!

That being said...

Whither such a lunatic pair of predictions??

Simple.

3 amazing Draft Classes:

An Historically Unprecedented Influx of Talent

2009

SS Pat Chung
DL Ron Brace
SC Darius Butler
RT Sebastian Vollmer

2010

CB Devin McCourty
WB Rob Gronkowski
DF Jermaine Cunningham
MF Brandon Spikes
SE Taylor Price
XE Aaron Hernandez
MF Dane Fletcher

2011

LT Nate Solder
DB Ras I Dowling
XB Shane Vereen
RG Marcus Cannon
TE Lee Smith
TE Will Yeatman

***

That's 17 Starting Caliber Players, many of outstanding talent!! And that's not even including guys that Coach Belichick stole off the waiver wire, like Danny WoodHead and Rob Ninkovich, or the deep swath of exceptional depth that he's augmented that team with, in the later rounds of these same Drafts.

Ladies and gentlemen??

That 3 year haul is not only astonishing.

It is unprecedented.

The last time anything even close to this transpired, was with the 1989-1992 CowBoys.

And that haul ~ though immense ~ is eclipsed by the seismic impact of Coach Belichick's vast orchestrations.

Same As It Ever Was: A Vision of the Future

The deeply talented but inexperienced CowBoys of 1989-1991 first learned to play together...and then learned to win together.

A 3 year incubation period...and then they exploded onto the world of FootBall like the Wrath of GOD.

And that team ~ respectfully submitted ~ had neither Coach Bill Belichick, nor Field General Tom Brady.

Ladies and Gentlemen?

The FootBall world has absolutely no idea what's about to hit it.

I agree with your general premise that a JuggerNaut is ascending and multiple titles are on the way.

I'm personally hoping Brady gets 7 titles to best Jordan's 6.

Unfortunately I think you over-rate the draft classes a bit. For instance Price, Butler and this years rookie class haven't proven to be starting caliber yet. Some rookies from this year probably won't be starting caliber.

HOWEVER, what you haven't mentioned is that there is no reason why these great draft hauls can't continue.

It's perhaps Bill greatest piece of genius and it really is a shame he doesn't get more credit for it. I'm surprised teams keep falling for the same trick to be honest. :p

I'm talking of course about trading a 3rd for a future 2nd, trading a 1st for a 2nd and a future 1st or similar trades. Every one of these trades vastly improves your chances of making a quality draft selection. Until teams stop making these trades there is absolutely NO REASON to believe the amazing draft hauls won't continue. :rocker:

Well, that's understood, yes?

I've often said, around these parts, that I'm looking for B+B to rack up not one, not two, but 3 to 5 more Championships before they're done.

This particular thesis is focused on the next 3 years, so I stuck to what has been done.

But I agree with you 100%: This decade carries immense possibilities!! :rocker:

Off The Grid taking a conservative approach? I don't believe it. :p

I have been interested the drafts have been better since Demitroff and Peioli have left....

BB is in quite a groove as the GM right now.

You know, restaurants are serving decaf these days.

WoW, OTG, that sounded like one of your mock drafts. :Dr Now no one here appreciates you enthusiasm than I.......BUT THAT post was something that I would expect to see on JI. ;) While I agree with a lot of your assessment, getting to the superbowl, especially now when you can't stock pile talent, there is a lot more to winning superbowl than talent. You need to be very lucky over the course of the season in getting good bounces, getting good calls or at least not too many bad ones, and above all, staying healthy.

What i can agree to is that over the next 5 years, at least, the Pats will be in the mix to win a superbowl every year. That's about all we can ask, and that in itself is a remarkable accomplishment.

I think people forget sometimes is that this franchise was solid winner even before 2001. From 1994 on the Pats have been a pretty strong franchise, Certainly nothing near what has been accomplished over the last 10 years, but relatively speaking a sujperbowl run and only 3 losing seasons since the 5-11 team Kraft's first year. When you think about it. That's amazing/.

Is it just me or does this guy's (or girl's) posts annoy the bejesus out of anyone else?

with all the italics, font changes, squiggly lines, and mindless ranting reminiscent of that guy standing in copley with the sign board talking about how god is going to smite all of us...

is there a block user option on this board? After a full season of these ridiculous posts last year im not quite sure I want to do it again.

Well SAID, sir, from beginning to END!! :D

We are truly blessed.

And let the record show: While I PREDICT Unprecedented Glory...I PRESUME...nothing.

Oh, it's NOT just you, pal. TRUST me. :D

However, it's only fair to add: Until you get it together long enough to write your own posts like a big boy ~ capital letters, punctuation...heard'f'm?? ;) ~ you really look kind of foolish, whining about ME. :D

Top left of your page 'User CP' then 'Edit Ignore List' about half way down.

Of course, you could always just apply a little common sense and actually avoid these threads in the first place, if you don't find them as enjoyable as the rest of us.

I agree with your asessment of Bradys potential longevity and enjoyed your description of Favre. But weren't you about to jump off a bridge in the middle of the draft and extremely critical of BB's selections before doing a 180, proclaiming it genius, and now predicting a perfect season and 3 superbowls? If I'm mistaken, I apologize.
But I agree that the assembled talent is remarkable. What I find amazing is that you could field a starting lineup of patriots comparable talent-wise to half the leagues current starting lineups for about $18-25 million.

I love the enthusiasm as well, but I think the Patriots have already proven how ridiculously hard 19-0 and three consecutive SB wins are.

I can't think of a more perfect attitude going into the start of a new season. We should all embrace it instead of spewing negativity!

You sir are the lunatic fringe. First, you cant be down on the early 90s 9ers! There was only 1 game watching a year before the playoffs and only 1 game in the playoffs worth watching from 91-94....9ers vs boys. The boys won 2 before Debartolo started leaving bags of money around circumventing the "salary cap". OK, enough with the 9ers.

This post is SOOOO bad, the only thing I can relate it to is the LeFraud speech:"not 2 or 3 or 4 titles"....sound familiar?? Off the grid INDEED! :bricks:

I can honestly say that I have never seen ONE exception to the rule:

Lowlife, degenerate scum like yourself, probably 18 beers or so into a case of Millwaukee's Best and ripped out of your MIND...NEVER have the courage to say that sort of thing to a guy's FACE.

Let's tally it up, shall we?

1 ~ You call me "inbred".

2 ~ You call my family "inbred".

3 ~ You insult every native of New England.

And you did so...why??

Because I posted something positive that had nothing to do with you.

And you do so, not in person ~ never in person, your type!! ~ but on the InterNet, being the drunk coward that you are.

Good luck with that.

Pete Sheppard??? Is that you???

I always appreciate your posts/threads OTG.

Eccentric at times? Yes. But many eccentric minds = borderline geniuses at the same time.

You know your football, and that's what I appreciate the most.

That said, I am an eternal pessimist. I am one of the most cautious people you will ever pass by or know. Keeping that in mind, there is a lot to your thinking that I will agree with. When you consider the success of the recent draft picks, the youth movement that will keep us from becoming a 'has-been,' (as proved by last yr's record, particularly against top-tier teams) the strengthening of the lines/trenches, the continuation of having Belichick around for at least another 3 yrs on his most recent deal, and the return to power football via TE/RB, I truly see no reason why we can't win another couple of SB's.

Going 19-0 however, may put me in the nuthouse, as I'm not sure that's something that I would want to go through again, despite the possibility of a better outcome.
