Pats release Crompton

Saw this from a tweet from about an hour ago.

Pats have released Former Tennessee QB Jonathan Crompton.

Not a bad sign about young Ryan's first practices, eh?

did not know he was on the team and i dont even know who he is lol was he a UDFA ?

What is Belichick off his rocker?!? How does Belichick expect to bring another championship when he is cutting key personnel like Jonathan Crompton?

Not surprising tough to stick even on PS with Hoyer and Mallett backing up Brady. He didn't show much last preseason. Mallett would seem to have a much higher upside.

I hope the Jets don't pick him up - he's probably better than Sanchez.

I have never heard his name before.

I think what it tells us is that since Players no longer have to work hard in TC - there was no need to carry a 4th QB. Given that there are so many fewer reps, they can be spit among the 3 guys we have.

Crompton was on the Pats practice squad last year. Signed mid-season. Signed to a "futures" contract in February.

My first reaction was: Mike Compton has been long gone.

This Compton kid got right by me.

Making room for Uncle Tommie

Thank Baby Jesus. I know he was just a PS QB, but this signing always irked me. I watch a lot of Tennessee games, and Crompton had to be one of the worst SEC QBs I've ever seen. Can't imagine he'll ever take an NFL snap.

If you're talking about Tommie Harris, the Pats had plenty of room after they cut Crumpler, Kaczur, Warren, TBC, Coulson (to put him on the IR), Tony Carter, and Stroud.

at camp yesterday was already on the punt scout team , never a good sign
