Actually..It probably would be a good thing if the Jets signed Nnamdi....then how in heck could they even afford all their other studs.....

Edwards would be gone and how much more of an upgrade is Aso over Cro ?

The Jet offense would consist of Holmes (double covered) and who?
Sanchez will be an INT machine with no other elite WR's to bail his azz out....

If they DON'T get Aso...they have to sign Cro....No Upgrade...

They may be able to get Edwards or Cro......but probably not both....

Gotta love it :singing:

This!

Exactly. Of course Aso is better all around but really? How much better is he over Cro? its still the same deal basically as last season except we have Chad Johnson now to hopefully take the top off a little more.

Stop sweating this guys. its all good. As long as Tom Brady is there, I have no fears

I happen to think that Aso is a good deal better than Cro if not a great deal better.

That said, the Jets will be depth free if this happens.

I would also put in the 4 TE offense and have Yeats and Lee line up outside and pound those corners on every play.

Seems like the Cowboys are in on this now. Hopefully he goes there.

Exactly, our team is primed to take on teams just like the Jets, even better now with Chad. Other 2 wide receiver set teams should fear this more than anyone. The TEs will demolish them secondary and safties.

Gronk >

Collinsworth thinks he goes to the Cowboys.

FP - Nnamdi's Choice: Dallas or NY Jets

p.s.
My favorite JI post on this subject so far:
"Gather round the fire kiddos, let me tell you about the time I almost signed the man they called Aso. It was a dark and stormy Tuesday...er, and Wednesday...Thursday too...Friday..."

Asomugha, more often than not, is lined up against lesser receivers and is not targeted very often, because he is without doubt a good corner lined up against lesser receivers, but when teams did target him last year, quarterbacks had a passer rating of 98.1 versus a 32.3 rating against Revis, even with Revis usually being on the better receiver.

I don't know what the passer rating against figures for Cro are, but 98 is not what I consider "elite" performance.

Honestly, whenever I think of Asomugha I think of the Cassel/Moss connection beating him like a drum in 08.

If Aso does go to Dallas, what is the over-under on interceptions Romo throws per practice?

For that matter, what are the chances that the Sanchize completes a pass during practice if he goes there?

Ryan will bring back the red light, green light thingy for practice but this time a green light will tell the CBs "Let The Sanchize complete a pass" so that his psyche isn't crushed.

Of course, with just 28 targets you're talking about a ridiculously small sample size and it shows that most teams pretty much just conceded his side of the field.

It is a small sample size, which means we don't know how he'll perform if tested more...could be better, could be worse.

The other thing that they mentioned was that with the Raiders he usually had safety help over the top. I think Rex will expect the two highest paid DB's in the league to handle being on an island more often.

To me it seems like an extravagant waste to pay big money for a marginal upgrade at a position of strength...which is why I would be in favor of it.

It won't help our deep game to be facing the best secondary in football...but do we really have one? What about the 15 yards in front of them? When you look at the new weapons that we have on offense, doesn't that seem to play into Bill's hands?

Muahahahaha!

Safety help or no, less than 2 targets a game tells me that the teams that were playing him thought he was pretty damn good.

That said, the only way I am really unhappy is if he takes considerably less to go to the Jets because of some bull**** potential acting career. I mean, is he going to be taking acting lessons during the season?

Anyway, I don't think that's likely as if that was the case it would probably be a done deal already. The longer it takes, the less likely the Jets are the team, IMHO.

Also, that much exposure to mediocrity might hurt the CB's. They might be surprised when they have to play at game speed.

Anyone else think that as a unit, the Pats secondary is as good as the NYJ secondary with Nnamdi in there? With Bodden back, and the continued development of McCourty and Chung, the solid play of Arrington, Sanders and the (sometimes) solid play of Merriweather, I would put our secondary up against anyones.

No. No one knows whether Merriweather can pull it together. Arrington is just so-so. I love Sanders but he is in no way a star. Chung needs to pull together another good year and sure up his coverage to be considered a very good or great player.

When you can put the top two receivers of the opposing team on an island and feel good about it, then it opens up the playbook so much..especially when you have a guy like Rex running the defense
