wheres the pass rush coming from? Ridley???

Ridley was a high risk high reward pick. He doesn't have any major question marks besides experience. Like most Pats picks we'll have to see how it plays out.

This is my most hated Patriot on the roster. Just hate this kid because of the stupid pick.

We pick a guy who would probably go undrafted, with 0 upside?

Effing awful.

This guy ran for 1200 yrds in the SEC. Hardly an afterthought. I had him going in the 4th round in my mock. Also, a key special teams player for LSU. Think of him as a cheap replacement for Sammy Morris.

that we prob could have gotten in the 5th. looking at Hankerson, Mason Foster...how the hell do you pick Ridley? We could get a cheap Sammy Morris replacement with......SAMMY ******* MORRIS!!!!!

If you pick Hankerson, aren't you basically saying that Taylor Price is a bust? After one NFL season?

As for Ridley, as far as I'm concerned, you can almost never go wrong picking a First Team All-SEC skill position player.

This is by far the worst pick of the 2011 draft. BB is all about value, but where is the value in drafting a #4 RB in the 3rd round. Unless you plan on trading BJGE or Woodhead, this pick is terrible. I just don't get it.

I actually like this pick more than the Mallett Piece of...well, dung.

Ridley's ceiling, IMHO, is a 'Thunder' back, similar to (but obviously worse than) Corey Dillon - Someone who's not a homerun runner, but who can get you the yards when it's fourth and two in the fourth quarter, and everyone in the stadium knows you're going to run.

If he turns into that, I'm satisfied.

Corrected. They will not pick a WR and Price will be given a shot.

Right after the Vareen pick, which I loved, I said on another forum that they would take another RB. Didn't think it would be so soon but I think BB wants the F out of this draft and it's bad players.

It also shows that he's going to give the young D time to develop.

Didn't anyone consider the LSU connection? If he was a stiff BB wouldn't have drafted him.

Could be a Arian Foster type back. He definately peaks my interest.

Did any of you watch LSU this year? The first time I watched Ridley play, I told my brother I would like to see him on the Pats.

Granted, I was thinking in the 7th round. :p

Nonetheless, he's a powerful inside runner with good vision, great feet, and remarkable balance. He's not a blazer by any means, but he gets north/south in a hurry and has awesome power. I'd forgotten that he declared this year, or else he would have been in my mocks as a late rounder; I had him pegged as a "to watch" guy for next year. He improves the team, and I look forward to what he has to offer us as fans.

I had the Patriots taking him in my mock draft.

A couple of things to remember.

1.) At times last year, he carried the LSU offense. He has low mileage on the tires.
2.) Plays ST and had 25 ST tackles the last two years. If you are going to be the 3rd RB on the Pats, then you need to contribute in other areas and he can do that.

Yup, Ridley is a typical under the radar BB pick. Had to go look him up. I don't know a lot about him but apparently he's a power back who could be useful on 3rd and short/4th and short situations.

NFL Draft 2011: Stevan Ridley of LSU Should Scare Dallas Cowboys RB Incumbents | Bleacher Report

So apparently the Cowboys think of Ridley as a younger Marion Barber. Hmmm that could work for us if he can live up to that. =)

Although the Cowboys took Demarco Murray at 71 before the Pats picked at 73. So perhaps Ridley was the fallback plan in case Murray didn't last. Hard to know which RB BB liked better!

Allen Bailey, the DE out of Miami, seemed like a better pick, esp. when Ridley likely would have been available a round latter.

I think the Chiefs, who drafted Bailey in the same round at #86, were very happy.

We'll see.

I am not sure how Bailey would fit in the KC defense, but I do not think he projects well into ours. Not sudden and lacks sand in the pants.

Had the same thoughts,,

Obviously Ridley was drafted higher than he might have been. I expect that belichick didn't see any other running backs that he wanted and took his man.

As I have said elsewhere, I am surprised that none of the interior linemen were of interest.

Or his ability to contribute and/or excel on ST adds to his value in BB's eyes.

Agreed.

I'm just glad that we are no longer looking for running backs.
