Round 2 Players No Factor in Jets Loss Last Year

McCourty, Mayo, Merriweather, Maroney, Mankins, Wilork, Watson, Warren. All 1st round picks. Spikes, Cunningham, Gronkowski, Chung, Brace, Butler, Vollmer, Wheatley, C.Jackson, Marquie Hill, Wilson, Bethel Johnson. All 2nd round picks. See any Pro Bowlers in that group? Nope. Lets look at the debacle against the Jets in the Playoffs last year. Spikes coming back from suspension - no factor, Cunningham - no factor, Gronkowski - average game, Chung - bonehead move of the game, Brace - not on field, Vollmer - average game, Wheatley - yeah right, C.Jackson - not on the team, M.Hill - unfortunately has left us, E.Wilson - long gone, B.Johnson - working at Foot Locker when game played.

Can't get back to winning Super Bowls by relying on 3 second round picks every year. Team still doesn't have an impact pass rusher. Jets, Steelers, Colts, Ravens all have multiple pass rushers and Jets and Steelers added more last night.

i think your takeing it to hard my friend lol the pats have lost 3 playoff games in a row cause they cant keep Brady on he's feet so they Drafted one of the best OL men in the Draft its a weak Draft and 4 of the so called top pass rushers in this Draft are still there if they want one

Among the second-rounders you think have limited impact, I see Gronkowski and Vollmer as future pro bowlers. They are solid 1st round picks in any "re-draft" of their draft year. It's an inexact science and you will miss on some second rounders and yes you will miss on some first rounders.

There is no way on this green earth that Gronkowski or Vollmer are going to be Pro Bowlers. They don't invite blocking TE's to the Pro Bowl. Hernandez is much more likely to make Pro Bowl, although that is also a real longshot. No way Vollmer makes a Pro Bowl. Do you relaly think he is as good as guys like Ogden? Quit drinking the Kool-Aid my friend.

Gronk could of been to the pro bowl this year. He had really good numbers.

Hey Einstein, 1st/2nd round is not important. Like.....rookie/second year player is what matters. 14-2 with half the snaps taken by 1st/2nd year players.

Better hope there is no double digit IQ threshold for posting......

Why is it that anything that doesn't agree with your opinion is a "rant". Your response was to immediately turn to name calling without any type of educated post. I just posted educated facts about our history with 1st and 2nd round picks. Because you evidently are a "Kool Aid" drinker who would clap if we picked Jessica Simpson in the 2nd and traded the rest of the draft away for a set of Lincoln Logs and a box of tea, doesn't make you a better Pats fan, a more educated Pats fan or anything else. This is a messageboard is it not, where we are allowed to post opinions and fact?

If 1st/2nd round players are not that important, how many of our 2nd rounders in the last 8 years have been Pro Bowl players? Last I checked, 5 of our last 6 1st rounders have been Pro Bowlers (MCourty, Mayo, Merriweather, Mankins, Wilfork). Do you have a response other than just name calling and throwing out insults?
