Until he was picked did You have him rated as a first round pick? I saw TSmith ,Costanzo, Watkins as first rounders. Solder No. It was a a Logan Mankins type pick, he was suppose togo in the second round too, i hope Solder turns out like Mankins as far as playing ability

Rick Gosselin had him rated as the 13th overall prospect.

Yes, and so did pretty much every single draft analyst.

Exactly-- even if the Giants or Colts didn't take him, people thought the Iggles would too...

Mike Mayock said Solder was his #1 OT, and he's probably the best analyst.
Also, I forget who but there were comparisons made of Solder to Tony Boselli...

Shift Light to RG and this O-line will be real good.

By his size, strenghts, and skillset reminds me Mandarich 2.0

With the injury question, Bowers would be too risky at #17. But at #28, he would be well, well worth the risk. Not too long ago he was, on some boards, the #1 pick in the draft.

If the Pats end up with Solder and Bowers with their first two picks, I will be absolutely elated.

"settle pick"

That makes zero sense, given how the board developed, care to translate?

Just saw Curran on Comcast Sports. He said by settle he meant that it wasn't a reach, but that they used most of the 10 minutes and were probably trying to move down. When they couldn't trade down they settled for picking Solder, a guy they didn't even meet with until Monday. Not sure how much of what he said was speculation on Curran's part, but just passing along what he said.

Yes, nice personality. Wish him well.

Apparently a couple teams did have him as a first round pick accoring to what we're hearing.

And I hate to repeat what has already been said several times, but did you have McCourty as a first round pick last year?

Jordan off the board -- to NO.

I think we found our mystery back injury that was rumored a few weeks ago. Thats the only reason I can think of for his fall. 2011 Sergio Kindle.
Nah, he was never an Alualu, but a bunch of Wes Buntings have been sucking his toes all season long and got people who don't watch the games excited.

A lot of LTs have broken in at G then moved over after a year or 2.
Solder would be a HUGE G but in our offense it may work.

Former TE
Athletic
Smart
Plays with a mean streak

Thats what I read in a quick look at scouting reports.
Are we surprised this guy was picked to be our probowl caliber LT for many years?

This draft is playing out perfectly for the Patriots. A ton of QB's taken early, they got their top OT choice, and still a lot of pass rushers left on the board.

Cam Jordan to the Saints.

Well... only top DEs left are Wilkerson and Heyward now.

Jordans gone

There goes Jordan.

tomecurran Tom E. Curran
By "settle" with Solder, I meant he was safe selection at need spot, opportunity to trade back didn't come and they were had to make pick.

I'm really feeling for Bowers. That knee must be ugly.

Hmm. Another defensive binky.

Defensive difference-makers getting fewer and fewer.

Wilkerson?

This sucks.

By his size, strenghts, and skillset reminds me Mandarich 2.0

Wasn't Mandarich the poster child for steroid abuse? Don't see the analogy between him and Solder. :bricks:
