Did BB go to the well too often? What do you think?

2010: Cunningham Spikes and Hernandez. Hernandez was a great value but the jury is still out on Cunningham and Spikes; i.e. were they picked too high?

2006: Chad Jackson and Jeremy Mincey. Ouch.

2004: Guss Scott and the immortal P. K. Sam.

I wonder if the number of picks is going to drop off with Meyer retiring.

Picking up two starting linebackers on a 14-2 team doesn't seem like a reach to me.

Sam wasn't a Gator.

Cunningham, Spikes and Hernandez were all 500 foot homeruns.

So many things wrong this picture.

First, Urban Meyer didn't take over at Florida until the 2005 season, ergo he wasn't responsible for the talent taken in the 2004 and 2006 drafts, if you're implying that BB drafts Gator's primarily because of Urban Meyer's presence. Jackson and Mincey played for him but they were by no means recruited by him.

Secondly, Mincey was a 6th round pick. Guys taken that late rarely last this long into their career with the same team. Statistically, they are out of football by now. Gus Scott was a 3rd round pick, a similar argument can be made for guys in that round although on average they have much longer careers.

Thirdly, PK Sam went to Florida State.

Fourthly, Spikes was a starter from day 1 and with the exception of some bonehead prescription disclosure on his part would have made a run at DROY. He is a very big reason for the success of Jerod Mayo. Take a look at the 4 production from Mayo from weeks 14-17 when Spikes was suspended. Cunningham was easily the best OLB on our roster last year and neither are coming off any sort of significant injury.

Cunningham is a perfect example of why sacks are not the end-all stat among pass rushers. If he learns how to tackle consistently, he's a 10 sack guy. Not bad for a late 2nd round pick.

starting ILB, OLB and a very dynamic weapon at TE... yaaaa i'd like to go to that well every draft

Mike Pouncey OG
Ahmad Black SS
Marcus Gilbert OT
Will Hill FS
Chas Henry P
Carl Johnson OG
Maurice Hurt OG
Justin Trattou DE

I could see us taking 3 of them (as they fit needs of OT, OG, and S) or none of them since I'm not particularly impressed with them either.

Pouncey could be very good, but wouldn't be cheap, draft pick wise.

Black could also be very good - as a slot/nickel corner (his original position IIRC). Maybe a 3rd-rounder?

Trattou apparently looked like a potential solid reserve 3-4 OLB at the Shrine Game. Maybe a 6th rounder or even undrafted?

Pouncey's Combine numbers scream Steelers/Cowboys/Philly big hog O-lines. He's not even close to Connolly, let alone Mankins and Neal.

Here is hoping that Wisconsin is this years Florida! Watt, Carimi and Moffit(sp?)and trade the rest of the picks til next year and I'd be extatic!
