The Dolphins are reported to have NO chance to resign Paul

...yes we do have Wilfork but this guy may be a great addition to the DL,this is a true 3/4 guy...Put Wilfork at DE and have Soliai,Wilfork and Ty Warren as the front 3...who the hell would be able to run through these guys?

Any Takers?

Depends on how much he costs, but in theory... yeah, I'd be interested in looking at him.

Re: Any Interest in Paul Soliai?

Based on their heights, Soliai seems like a better fit at DE while keeping Wilfork at nose.

Re: Any Interest in Paul Soliai?

he's a mountain.an extra big body never hurts.

Re: Any Interest in Paul Soliai?

The goal for the Patriots should be to get a DE who's good enough that Wilfork is able to stay on the nose.

Can Soliai play DE? I have a hard time believing he'd be worse than Gerard Warren was.

I wouldn't want to see Love starting either

Given how our OLBs stand up against the run, I think finding a bigger 34 DE makes sense - even if it means moving Vince there more often. I don't know a lot about Soliai, but prior experience and size says he's a fit in a 34. However he fits, we need another big body on the line.

Whether its as a Vince backup at NT, playing NT to allow Vince to move over, or playing end in the base, we need another big body on the line.

Well, they need another OLB, regardless, so I'm not sure that a larger 3-4 DE is the answer.

One of the problems the Patriots are starting to have is that teams are exploiting all their substitutions. Putting a tank out at DE doesn't ease those problems, it adds to them, IMO.

Now, if the Ravens foolishly decide not to tag Ngata, on the other hand.....

To some extent, I think the issues with substitution comes more at LB. We take Wilfork off the field largely for the sake of sparing him the reps. The reality is his replacement - say, Pryor - is not necessarily a better pass rusher. He might have fresher legs, but Wilfork CAN push the pocket, probably about as well as anybody on our team.

To me, having 3 oversized DL on the field is less of a problem than having LBs that can't rush or cover.

As it is, none of our OLBs standout in either phase (I'd be hard-pressed to describe any of them as more than "adequate" at either task), and we have one ILB who - for now - is a liability in coverage (Spikes). And yes, ultimately, I agree that points to the need at OLB.

Man would that be a dream come true.

Ngata can rush the passer and command double/triple teams which in theory allow more 1:1 match-ups.

Shaun Rogers just got released by the Browns...only 32 but I question if he has anything left, only 2 sacks in 2010

6'5+, lateral agility, a couple of moves, and a decent burst. No compromises.

If the Chiefs are smart, they'll look at Rogers for their NT spot.

P.S. Linebackers Eric Barton and David Bowens were also cut by the Browns, along with DL Kenyon Coleman and OL John St. Clair.

Rogers has shown ability no question. Good judgement is different story.

Browns fans HATE John St. Clair.

Browns fans HATE John St. Clair.

So do Bears and Rams fans. My hope is that Rex Ryan signs St. Clair. That way Warren and Cunningham can storm Sanchez all day long.
