Goodell to SI: Deceived by Belichick

Suspicious timing as if it was planned to screw up the Patriots IF they got to the SB. Maybe someone is jealous of the Patriots draft picks.

I smell a rat. The Jets? Bill Polian?

Very good observation! I find it slightly ironic that the two most disappointing defeats in franchise history came at the hands of New York teams, and Hitler, er Goodell, wasn't about to let them hoist the Lombardi without the good 'ol 'lets nationally disparage the patriots a day before their would-be playoff games' tact.

I have been around for three different commissioners, Goodell is by far the absolute worse of the three.

the reason belichick never apologized is because he knows what we all know, that cameragate was a farce. videotaping the jets ? what a joke. that had to be for comic releif.

I have no doubt that Belichick would make a better Commish than RG.

I think that's true, even though Belichick played on the interior of the line at University. Age takes it's toll, and though he's not so well suited to a high profile public position like Commissioner, playing Right Guard at NFL level when you're almost 60 and were too small to begin with is no picnic.

God-dell is one of the most CORRUPT, and biggest DOUCHE BAGS in the history of pro sports....what a self serving ,loathing, and biased scumbag this piece of sh*t is. He is so blinded with.HATE for the Pats...he can not make objective comments or discussions about them.....friggin firea$$ Fred and goodell must be the same person!

Lastly....this thing has been blown out if proportion and allowed to get to that point by that piece of sh!t "commissioner".....the only rule VIOLATION (Read NOT CHEATING) was WHERE on the field the Pats taped signals. Everyone tapes the signals and playcalling....just NOT AT FIELD level....unreal how this scum of.the earth jest fan is allowed to be in control of the league....

What's kind of funny was I was going to post a thread last week about how I'm worried about the CBA mostly because Goodell is playing a major role. Honestly disregarding everything he has had to do with the Pats he decisions on major issues have followed no logic and are generally awful. Suddenly making up new rules during a current season (check), fining players with no precedent arbitrary amounts of money (check), ignoring the CBA issue until the 11th hour (check), making tweaks in the game that don't need to be made, mainly european games, (check) and my fav championing player safety while demanding an 18 game season the height of hypocrisy!

I cant believe he would bring this **** up again, belichick was fined half a million dollars and a draft pick for filming something that most good quarterbacks would be able to see looking at from the pocket.

Goodell wants an apology? gimmie a ******' break. he can go **** himself.

Goodell should have made damn well sure that everything happened as he intended it to happen. He was in total control of the situation. That it got away from him means that he fouled it all up.

Good job blaming Bill for your screw up, you piece of turd.

Please run into traffic and stay there until you become road pizza, Mr. Goodell.

Kraft really can't speak out right now, because of the CBA situation. Belichick, on the other hand, could certainly talk about Goodell being full of it. It's not as if Goodell would have any moral position for fining Belichick for talking, given that his dumb ass is the one who gave the interview that got this started.

I do not see how the CBA issue prevents Kraft from growing a pair and speaking strongly to Goodell in private as I suggested. The "May I have another?" stance from the Patriots has not proved successful in this regard. Meanwhile, orgs like the Jets speak out in public accusing the Pats when they're the infringers and nothing of note happens in consequence. Now, a position on the Competition Committee remains open with Fisher's departure. Kraft should lobby to put Jonathan in that spot.

I hear you. I just think that a public attack by Goodell after all this time merits a very public response by the Patriots. Giving him a s.t.f.u. in private is fine, but the guy is bashing the team's coach publicly.

We're in complete agreement.
Me, I'm just frustrated, exacerbated by the latest playoff debacle.

People will continue to bring it up.They wanna know what was on those tapes. They got destroyed.Winning a superbowl would cure that.

Maybe David Frost will come out of retirement and pay BB $500k to interview him and get the real story.:p

I confess I haven't read this whole thread, but requiring Belichick to "to make a verbal apology in front of the press" is, in my opinion, intentionally setting BB up to fail Jolly Roger's test. He had to know that Belichick did not think he had done anything so horrible that it would require him to abase himself in front of the hated press. RG had to know BB wouldn't do it.
This gives him, in his self-inflated--and clearly in King's--view the moral high ground. In King's telling Goody comes off looking like the stern dad who is so disappointed in his bratty, recalcitrant, deceptive son. While BB comes off looking like an arrogant stubborn child--"I won't, I won't, I won't grovel, so f-off! "

Godell and King timed this to do the most damage. I bet if the Patriots made it to the big game he would published just before, but instead he waited for BB to win Coach of the year and released it. Wasn't King mad that BB wouldn't give his apology personally to him?

Also, Kraft needs to do something here. He's looking like a ***** and letting this douche attack his employee and him as well in a way.

This always kills me. What exactly do you think could be on those tapes that would be so incriminating?? They filmed the opponent's sideline from their own sideline. Out in the open. With a shaky-cam. All that could possibly be on there are opponent players and coaches, the game clock, and some gratuitous cheerleader shots .... This was hardly Robert Ludlum-esque espionage, here.

And didn't they play a bunch of the tapes on NFL Network anyhow?

I remember the opposite claimed in this article.

I remember at the time that the Patriots, Belichick, and Kraft were hamstrung from giving their side of the story because they were told/ordered to keep their mouths shut by Goodell.

You're talking some serious bad blood has to exist between the Commissioner's Office and the entire New england Patriot's organization. If Goodell still on warpath 3 plus years later, that tells me Goodell's power is growing, and the alleged power of the Kraft Family in the NFL Family is only a mirage.

I have felt deceived by Goodell for awhile now. The way he handles other teams and coaches like kittens.

He is such a wussy with his power. He hammers down on the players like it's no big deal. But when it comes time to come down on a organization or coach, other than the Patriot he is a coward. There are quite a few examples where he could of come down on them but decided not too. Tampering 49ers. Ryan should of been suspended for his coaches actions vs Miami. Tom Cable not a thing.

Basically this guy wants to be alpha dog and wants the full backing of the owners. He could care two squirts about the players as he seems to easily be able to throw down the hammer on them without blinking an eye. Did I mention he is trying to break Rooney, Kraft, Adams, and Davis because they are almost revered in some of their meetings?
