Revis to Pats: "Take the loss like a man"

Re: "Take the loss like a man"

I've asked this multiple times and never received a response other than something along the lines of shut the eff up:

Why is the Light's Out dance perfectly fine when Merriman does it, but a horrible thing when a Patriot does it? Why is the airplane some sort of fun, happy celebration when one player does it, but teasing when another player does the same thing?

It's either taunting in both cases, or a celebration in both cases. It's hypocritical to say otherwise.

Because when the dance you're doing, the celebration you pick, is one that another player/team that you're playing that game is known for - more, when you pick it because the other player/team is known for it - you aren't just celebrating. You're giving a giant FU.

I think players celebrate excessively in general, but it's not taunting/rubbing it in, generally, no matter which team the player is on. It's only when the celebration is specifically chosen to rub it in to the opponent that it crosses into taunting.

Re: "Take the loss like a man"

I cant believe i am associated with people like this...no wonder people think this **** about us...sigh..

Heh. It's not just you guys; every fan base has its utter morons

Re: "Take the loss like a man"

Celebrating after the game is a lot classier than the 3 ring circus that takes place after every play, in every game every sunday before the game has ended..

Dancing, flapping arms, back flips, stage dives, the moon walk, snow angels etc...

the 32 teams in the nfl, all with no exception show classless, nonsensical partying after the most meaningless plays every down every game.(lmao)

What ever Deion.

Bevis, what is taking it like a man? Crying like Rex after a loss to jags 22-24 in 2009. Bozo

Re: "Take the loss like a man"

Sad to say, I have to agree with Revis on this one, Deion.....save it, OK !!! No one wants to hear it now.

If you didn't like the thought of these guys celebrating on our field in a manner that you knew was coming, should that happen (and sadly, it did), then you and your fellow teammates should done something about it, when it mattered the MOST, *** DURING THE GAME ***. You see it is really quite simple, Deion, if you don't want ##it rubbed in your face, then it is a simple solution: ***DON'T-LOSE-THE-DAMN-GAME ***. That is where the "rubber meets the road".

Maybe, you should have spent more time focusing on that 4th & 13 pass that you dropped right in your hands (nice Reche Caldwell impersonation by the way !!! ), after a 7 minute drive in the 4th quarter, as you did rattling on about a celebration. We make that 1st down there, potentially score, with a few minutes left, and who knows what may have happened. We may have witnessed a different outcome. However, by not converting, it all but sealed the game for them.

I have to disagree. If they were simply celebrating it would be spontaneous: hands up in the air, a slap on the shoulder, a high five, etc. If it's pre-planned then it is either consciously or subconsciously a subtle dig to rub it in the face of the opposing team and their fans. To quote your very own previous comment:

Bottom line - if it's classless when the Jets do it, then it's classless when the Pats do it. If it's not classless when the Pats do it, then it's not classless when the Jets do it.

I'll even let you pick which opinion you want to work from. But for god's sake, pick one.

If it's okay for one team to do it then it's okay for anyone else to do it too. The only difference is that the original team is hiding its taunt by claiming it is all in fun, a celebration; the team that copies that very same taunt is less subtle. They're either both taunts, or they're both harmless fun celebrations. That holds true regardless of the player, team, sport or choreographed dance.

Re: "Take the loss like a man"

Celebrating after the game... :)

The Jets earned it..:(

Congratz to them :D

Jets flipping off fans.....:p

Classless...:bricks:

Wonder what BB would do to a Patriot player caught doing that ?

Re: "Take the loss like a man"

Hey Darelle. Practice what you preach and learn how to win like a man.

Re: "Take the loss like a man"

I can't believe that professional football has come to this. What the **** is
wrong with fans and players alike? It's as if the mentality of the adversaries
is sitting at around that of a junior high school adolescent. What a sad, sad,
statement.

It's crazy. Everyone's access to media and the chance to give an opinion to the masses at the press of a button is nutty. To think of the impressions that the Jets have made among people that it's OK to talk trash and insult your opponent before and after the game has been played.

The whole point is that many to all of the original celebrations are FU's to start with, and if a player wants to put himself out there with an over the top signature dance he then opens himself up to ridicule when he doesn't perform. For the Jets to be angry at Brady for looking at their bench or anyone else is absurd. Maybe he should have just done the "dougie" right in the players face, but let's not look at the original indiscretions.

Unfortunately, Goodell's pet team has been allowed to run rampant, all the while he's claiming he has to maintain the integrity of the league. The past year the Jets have been involved in at least 6 incidents with little to no recourse. A jet player threatens the career of a Patriot so Goodell's office warns all playoff teams, instead of the player and the team that made the threat. If all NFL teams acted like the Jets the NFL would become a joke.

Re: "Take the loss like a man"

I don't get the Jets' (coaches, players, fanbase) obsession with the Pats.

I didn't even think about the Jets either way until Rex Ryan was the coach and started saying all of that "I'm not here to kiss Belichick's rings" and that hilarious (for all the wrong reasons) phone message he sent to ticket holders.

And even after losing to them...I still kind of feel bad for them. This was their Super Bowl. Even if by some chance they made the SB and won, they would still be bragging about a divisional round game and trash talking.

When we were winning SBs, I wasn't on Colts boards after beating them and shoving it in their faces.

The Jets and their fans almost look Ravens players look classy.
