Look, as Pats fans we are EXTREMELY blessed to have had this much success over the last decade. Four superbowl performances with three of them wins? That is incredible!

Because of this massive success, it is understandable that we get frustrated, even outraged, that we don't at least get close every year. But news flash guys, WINNING A SUPERBOWL IS HARD.

Only one team can do it yearly, why should it be an automatic that it will be us? So many fantastic teams every year don't even make it to the big show. The fact that we have done it 4 times is nothing short of remarkable. And guess what? I fully expect to go back at least twice more before the end of the Brady era. That's how good the Pats are. But even we can't do it every year.

Good thread.

Yes, I think some posters here need to be more realistic and grateful for what the team has accomplished over the years.

Sorry I expect better than a home playoff loss from a BB and Brady led team with the #1 seed. I'll go back to expecting 8-8 seasons.

I think it is absolutely fair to be upset with the way the game went down.

Speaking for myself only, however, the expectations that I have on the performance of the team are really unrealistic.

Truthfully, the most enjoyable season recently was the 2008 season - pleasantly surprised, no expectations at all. Alternatively, 2004 (repeat) and 2007 seasons - excruciating seasons to watch, I did not want them to lose so badly that the wins lost their significance/not terribly enjoyable to watch (though the 2004 outcome was awesome). 2010 season - fun to watch, growing expectations throughout that ended in a dud.

For me, the losing - and it doesnt mean Im happy about it- will make it sweeter when they win. Maybe that will be when Brady is retired...but it is what it is.
