Why is it so difficult to completely believe in the Pats?

Perhaps I'm wrong, but it seems to me like you've been predicting the Pats will not win for about three or four years now.

How exactly does that equate to believing in the Patriots?

Because if I think they will win then they lose. Plus if they do lose it will be easier to take the loss. The loss to the Giants really sucked.

So your thoughts on the game absolutely affect the outcome?

In that case please disregard my previous comments, and continue to use your cosmic powers to anticipate a win by the Jets.

Yeah, And all it took was a miracle catch, on a play with three non called holds, an out of body D Line effort by Giants, Brady playing on one foot, and the team emotionally deflated by the Tomase backstab.

Oh and Assante allowing the game finishing INT to bounce of his fingers in some surreal imitation of
edwardstonehands.

This followed a season of increasing, relentless tension that had worn the men down, their performance had slipped by season end.

The Tomase story ruined my weekend, enjoyment of the game.

Not letting that happen again. never clicking on anything Tomase related again, either.
But to relieve the tension,
rationally, where do you see a jet advantage?
ST
T/O
Penalties
Offense
All Pats adv.
Call D a wash.
Pats allowed 6 more points than the Jets.
O outscored them by 151.

Relax, enjoy the ride.
Think of it as dancing on Tomase's grave.

Where is there any Jet advantage?
It has been a long week though.

We'll be nervous at first. I have no doubt that BB and Brady has some plays that'll blow the Jets outta the water. Remember, we had a bye week, they're rested up and we are at home. This is a team that we just demolished. We know how to do it.

Trust in your coach, quarterback and team. :)

I had a really bad feeling about SB42 the weekend of the game. Nothing this weekend has made me feel that way. I think we win by 7-14 but a fast start is critical.

Many fans may not know this but in the past 7 years when the Pats play at home AND they win the turnover battle in games they are an UNBEATEN 40-0

Simply means if the Pats have NO or little turnovers and the Jets have 1 or more than they do and the Pats will win.

I didn't know that, thought I was paying attention. Who came up with that? Did you count it up?
That is a crazy number, surprised I had not heard it.
Some Vegas wizard?

I'm still scarred from 2007 & 2006.

I'm still scarred from 2007 & 2006.

Thanks for the link Philly.

What hit me worse, I swear was Tomase's hit.
I turned off the Tv for the weekend.
Turned it on for the game.

Canceled cable the next month, lived without it since.
No joke.

It changed me, I just don't get beat up by it anymore.
Certainly not going to let folk's empty words take me down.

We are watching a historic thing.
BB has one historic peer, I believe. Brown. Brady? Same. maybe one, Graham.
Seriously, they have been knockin' at that door 6 times really, 7 now.
'05, it was within reach too.
Really a twist of fate denied them playoffs in '08.

They have rewritten how to manage a team in the modern era, done something nobody can even come close to matching.

I am still emotional and enthusiastic, but now it is on another level, outside, or above the noise.
I really am just enjoying, appreciating the ride. Frick em.
What is happening now Is Not going to happen again.
It took 60 years. Enjoy every second.

We have more offensive weapons than anyone. We have the best quarterback and best coach in football. Our defense is fast and has only improved in game after game, and we have some of the best players in the League. We've taken on the best teams in the League and we've won. The sophisticated statistics that are used by footballoutsiders.com shows we are the best team. So by any reasonable measure we should easily handle the Jets like we did in our last game against them.

Yet, I'm still worried. Green Bay with a second string QB came close to beating the Pats because Belichick is not as a good coach when the opposing team does what he doesn't expect. I think back to when Miami used the wildcat to defeat again and again, and BB just waited patiently for Miami to do what he expected. They never did and we lost. Mangina offered some tips in the New York Post on how to beat the Pats; others have said that to have a chance you need an unexpected and original game plan. I saw how rusty the Steelers were for the first half of the game against the Ravens, and fear that the young Pats will not be ready for a playoff game, especially after a week off. Maybe the Pats can be defeated. After all, several teams, including the Colts and Packers, have come close, and the Jets and Browns actually did defeat us.

I suppose if I was a fan of the Jets, I would be even more worried, but I'd like to believe in the Pats with more certainty. Do you?

Ill do my best to answer this, tho I might fall short.

These are your boys, and your team. You can at no point not believe in them. No matter how bad the team is or how many years they continue to fail. They are yours and belong to you. If its 40-3 in the 4th your team still needs you, and you have to believe in them. When they have nothing left, they look to you to fill it.
Why do 100% of all children walk because the parents will it to happen. Belief is a powerful thing.

The Patriots have a hard road to their 4th SB, but they are trying, very hard, and doing you proud. There will be ups and downs in every game, but never give up, never stop believing in your boys when all seems lost. Its better to be surprised at the end of the game then depressed in the 3rd quarter.

Im not suggesting you become a zombie to the team, tho that can be arranged:), what I am suggesting is that it makes more sense to just believe in your guys and give them the undivided support, and benefit of a doubt, they need while playing, not believing during the game, at ANY point, can only hurt them. They need you as much as you want them to win.

Say someone breaks into your house, makes no sense to be afraid, being afraid puts you at a disadvantage. Be afraid and nervous before and after anything happens. During the moment believe and have resolve, and never waver. Chuck your cookies later I did after the NFCC .

There are definitely a few reasons to be worried...

1. How young the defense is and its lack of experience in the playoffs.

2. Too much of a reliance on Brady. If he struggles the Pats are doomed.

3. The defenses not having played in many wire to wire close games, could be an issue if it is close throughout.

4. Dependence on the turnover. What if the Pats dont force any turnovers?

5. Weak DL. With so many guys out this could definitely effect the game.

The Patriots havent made any of these become an issue this season so you wouldnt expect it to become an issue now, but this is the playoffs and its a whole new season. Anything can happen
Go away Jets troll. Your comments about the post-season have already been found out. ******* Jets troll.

The Jets just do not scare me in Gillette Stadium.

Our defense has gotten much better since the beginning of the season and are primed for the playoffs, and our offense is on fire. Barring a HUGE meltdown, i just cannot fathom the Patriots losing to the Jets this Sunday.

I mean come on, Mark $%#$%$ Sanchez is going to beat the Patriots in a huge playoff game in Gillette Stadium? He is going to have to actually put points on the board (i do not see our patriots scoring less than 23).

Unless Brady and Sanchez completely swap each others talents and skill-sets (or wives :D), Patriots will host the championship game next week.

I have not been afraid a single game this season, I just haven't. That being said, come playoffs time I am as anxious and as nervous as anyone you will meet. I wouldn't care if we were playing the Carolina Panthers out there.

I'm nervous as hell about this game! So much so that I almost don't want to watch it. Losing to the Jets in the playoffs would be the biggest kick in the nuts ever. Yet I have a horrible feeling that is what is going to happen tomorrow. :(

i don't believe we can be beaten ... we can lose but the Jet's are not talented enough in all positions to beat us.

Agreed.
Jersey just isn't that good of a team.
Next week is the first real test.
This week.........Pats are gonna roll!!

Its normal to be nervous before a big game, gad here I am preaching to you when there are many guys on here that know I was way more nervous than you are now before our SB last year. I was a mess, they helped me threw it,lol.
But when the games starts, flip that switch and just believe. It cant hurt. If it helps you're not alone, a lot of other teams fans are with you.

Mostly because of 2007 and the playoff beating the Patriots took last year. Those two things broke the mystic aura feel that the team had.

I think thats all there is to say.

2001 and 2007 are still relatively fresh in our memories, so we know, that no matter how large a favorite we are, we can be beaten, by all the teams still alive in the playoffs (maybe apart from Seattle). So even when we see a team as good as 2007 we know they have lost one game that mattered.

Also whatever loudmouthing the Jets try, they will be excused from lossing, as long as it is not as bad as last time. But when we lose we will be the laughingstock of the national media, and that makes us even more uneven.

The ironic thing is, if we lose (lord forbid), and the media does turn us into the laughingstock of the national media, it is there fault for making us into this huge "juggernaut" I do not think any one of the patriots members have considered themselves elite or unstoppable, hell all of the patriots are humble, saying on numerous occasions that they have not accomplished ****. It is the fricking media that puts unneeded pressure on a certain team.

They build you up, just to bring you back down. The U.S. Media ladies and gentlemen.
