Re: Win one for Alge!

He is probably my favorite offseason pickup. The rookie TEs I still think would be special, but without him I don't think they'd be nearly as good. They may have been more about glammer without someone so level headed keeping them grounded while teaching them everything he knows. He wasn't ever exactly a slouch at the position so he knows his stuff.

He's very classy, well spoken, and he was named a team captain in his first season here. These things say alot about his character and leadership abilities. He is easily an unsung hero of this team who doesn't get nearly enough recognition for everything he's done.

Hopefully when all is said and done people look at more than just his stats this season and call him a non factor, he is one of the most important pieces of this team and I don't think we'd be 14-2 without him.

Re: Win one for Alge!

Watching all the Press Conferences, something I've only paid attention to the past few years, probably 06-07, but does Deion ever not smile? I honestly don't think i've ever seen him upset or angry. Only all smiles, always having fun.

Re: Win one for Alge!

I was holding out hope we could have gotten Crumpler MUCH earlier in his career, but it was never meant to be - until this year when his presence has really counted most as a bridge between young/new and the veterans of the Dynasty

The other thing to keep in mind is that this guy WAS the pass catching recevier until time caught up with him - then he completely devoted himself to being the best damn blocking TE there is

Over the course of his career Crumpler has excelled at both aspects of the TE game, making him a helluva mentor for "his guys" - I'm grateful too

I remember Branch after the Baltimore OT win and I was surprised how polite he was, so many yes sirs he used. He was definitely the anti-thug. I really expected to hear Pat haters talking about bringing in Uncle Tom Branch to replace angry black man Moss but nothing happened on air.

I love Deion Branch, I still wear his #83 jersey. Other than forming some telekenetic connection with Brady in clutch situations, he's the kind of guy you want to just chill out with.

Re: Win one for Alge!

I've been singing Alge praises since we signed him. Simply put: if you want to run the ball it's a good thing to have someone named Crumpler at the blocking TE position!

Not to mention the positive effect a pro's pro like the Crumpler-Nator would have on 2 rookie TE's......

Re: Win one for Alge!

I love this guy. Let's hope he stays next year!

Re: Win one for Alge!

"That team takes after their coach, we take after ours, and it all boils down to what we do on the field."

Well said, Alge.

Re: Win one for Alge!

I loved his interview today, hes so damn classy.

Re: Win one for Alge!

I just finished watching Alge's press conference for earlier today and this guy all class...not Mr. Classy class, but a real down-to-earth, soft-spoken guy. I totally understand why he was voted a captain in his first year here. If you have a chance, watch the video here:

Alge Crumpler Press Conference - 1/11/2011

There are 2 things that stood out to me in the presser. First, when asked about the development of Rob and Aaron, he says he's really proud of "His guys". He takes total ownership of his teaching role on this team and he seems to take it very seriously. Secondly, he was asked about playing for BB and how it's different from the other places he played. He said he really appreciate the opportunity BB has given him and the professionalism he conducts himself with. He also said that he wished he could have been here earlier in his career.

He could have taken pot-shots at his old team, a-la LaToya (Mr Classy), but instead was his humble self and was just happy to be here and have this chance to win something.

If there ever was a vet that deserves a Ring, it's Alge. So let the rallying cry be, "Win one for Alge!".

Consummate professional. I notice that a lot of guys that come in here... not just Crumpler, but Seau, Moss, even John Lynch, have raved about the professionalism with the organization and how they wished they could have joined earlier in their careers. This is a team that gets it and I feel proud and blessed to be a fan of this team.

Re: Win one for Alge!

Two words about Alge = True Pro! This guy is grea! Glad he was named a Captain, he deserves it and glad he's a Patriot! One of the things I'm looking forward to the moist if and when the Patriots win it all is the camera showing Alge smiling and enjoying the moment!

Before he retired, Lynch said that he learned more about winning football from BB in three weeks than he had from any coach he played for.

If only . . . . :(

Re: Win one for Alge!

This season Alge's been every bit as valuable as Hernandez and Gronk. His primary job isn't flashy but damn I really must have underestimated how good the move was to get Crumpler.

He's the total package. Especially the leadership he brought to the Pats which we seemed to lack last season. I wish you were here earlier too Alge. :rocker:

Here's to Alge catching a couple playoff TD's too!

Re: Win one for Alge!

How much influence did this guy have on Gronk's development? Thanks Alge. :rocker:

If he is healthy, bring him back to help with the running game. We need help there.

Our running game has been pretty solid when we went to it, apart from Sunday night. Our problem is that we abandon it, not that we can't run (again, not counting Sunday).

omg the ancient old balls of Alge Crumpler have been resurrected

this is 2 random threads in a row that were brought up and came out from the bowels of Patsfans.com:eek:
