A read in SI online, about BB focusing on some of the distractions he is facing, I thought he and his wife were back together? Last I heard they bought property in Nantucket and were preparing to build a house there, could this guy be wrong. As far as his son goes, it is a disapointment, but hardly the type of thing that would distract you for long. When does Stephen, go from BB's son Steve Belichick to Steve Belichick son of BB? It is more than a sublety, but he is an adult now made a crappy choice, but not the end of the world. Are the so called distractions much ado about nothing, similar to the gloom and doom thread on this board or similar to blaming McDaniels for the crappy play calling.

The NFL's resident genius, Bill Belichick, who even in the best of times has the air of a tortured, brooding Ahab, has had a rough couple of weeks.

It goes beyond New England's consecutive home losses to the undefeated Colts and the hated Jets. On Oct. 28 Belichick's son, Stephen, 19, was arrested for possession of a small amount of marijuana, for which the young man, who had no previous run-ins with the law, was sentenced in a Boston-area court to six months probation.

That, unfortunately for New England's coach, gave renewed life to a series of articles in Boston Herald gossip columns and various blogs reminding readers that Stephen wasn't the only Belichick family member with legal problems. Belichick himself is waiting to be subpoenaed for a deposition in a rancorous divorce proceeding in New Jersey, in which Belichick has been identified as the "other man" by an angry Vincent Shenocca, a construction worker from Morristown

"Captain Ahab" -- now THAT is pretty funny. :D

This guy's just packaging stuff we already know. No doubt BB going through some personal problems as we all do sometimes.

From the death of his father, his son's difficulties and his marriage was or is having difficulties.

The fact that the New Jersey guys allegations are not going away isn't a good sign, although it might be nothing.

As far as the Mangini situation goes, that's a total crock. These guys are extreme competitors. Parcells held a grudge about Belichick for a while and he'd been a loyal employee for years.

Mangini was put on the fast track, personally groomed for success and given a co-ordinators job pretty early in his career. He split for the one team BB truly hates.

Auerbach probably would have punched him when it was time for the handshake.

I'm sure in a few years he'll give him a big sloppy kiss just like the Tuna did and all the gossip fans will be happy.

I'm starting to think that this is part of a vendatta against BB by the Herald. Since the story broke in July there really hasn't been any news but the Herald keeps it alive. The other day they reported that BB and his wife might already be divorced, or not. They couldn't find out because the Middlesex Court records are sealed. Is that news?

He's a public figure and I understand that he's therefore subject to closer scrutiny than the average Joe but I'm starting to wonder if the Herald is trying to drive him out of town. It wouldn't be the first time (see Steve Buckley and Nomar.) At this point it's just harrassment.

BTW -- sometime during the off season (I can't remember the date) the Herald had reported that BB had moved home. I remember the last snarky line in the item was "Can you say Carmela Soprano?" So much for the Herald's accuracy.

No, BB and his wife are getting divorced.

Then why the heck we they put out a whole lot of $ to buy the Nantucket land in both of their names earlier this year, seems kind of strange for a couple headed to divorce court. But whatever, the poor guy just wants to coach and he's got to deal with this crap from the local media, I feel horribly for him. Nobody is perfect, but to have your private life plastered across the front page of the Globe, he doesn't deserve that, not for the joy he has brought to NE fans the past few years.

They're trying to do it amicably; no one knows what the true use of that land will be, and they do have kids. They will remain associated through one of BB's charitable endeavors, for instance. But, they are getting divorced.

I agree -- but the same thing goes for Internet message boards.

"when Jackson attempted to shake Belichick's hand before conducting a post game interview, Belichick, still miffed that Jackson hadn't apologized, refused the handshake and crudely told him to attempt something unprintable and anatomically impossible." thats hilarious!
Tom Jackson: "Their coach hates me"

"he has exhibited a lack of grace that is, frankly, chilling." haven't seen it. total BS
