I think the Packers will emerge out of the NFC.

they are on a hot streak right now. They played us very well with a backup QB in, then beat the Giants, a 10 win team, and then beat the Bears who are the #2 seed in the NFC.

They are peaking at the exact right time. I think the only team suitable to beat them is the talent-packed Eagles in the first round, but even they haven't been so strong lately.

I would say the Saints could beat GB too, but i really don't think they'll have anything close to a good enough running game

Here's how I rank the teams in order of strength:

1- New England
2- Green Bay
3- New Orleans
4- Baltimore
5- Pittsburgh
6- Atlanta
7- Indianapolis
8- Philadelphia
9- New Jersey
10- Chicago
11- Kansas City
12- Seattle

Here's how I rank their chances to win it all:

1- New England
2- Baltimore
3- New Orleans
4- Atlanta
5- Green Bay
6- Pittsburgh
7- Indianapolis
8- Philadelphia
9- Chicago
10- Kansas City
11- New Jersey
12- Seattle

if you think Baltimore is just slightly better than Pittburgh, it doesn't make any sense that they have A LOT better chance of advancing. the bye is a gigantic edge for Pittburgh. there is close to a 40% chance Baltimore doesn't even win this weekend

How many games did you guys won in OT or by 3-6 points?

OT wins:
@Lions: 23-20
@Browns: 26-20

3-6 points wins:
@Broncos: 24-20
vs Texans: 30-27
@Steelers: 22-17

That's 5 W's by one position. If the Jets lost those 5 games their record would be of 6-10 and there would be no Playoffs for you guys.

LOL....you're not very smart. It's a shame because most posters on here, while biased (as we all are for our team), can at least make a good argument. With your logic, if the Jets had won the games they lost but could have won, they would have been 14-2. Other than the absolute thumping the Jets got from your Pats, their other losses were by a combined 18 points. That's right 18 points over 4 games, or an average of 4.5 points a game - 1 possession (not position) in each game. So, please take the if, ands, or buts out of your argument. A W is a W and an L is an L in this league. I thinks it's fair to say that the Jets could have been anywhere from 6-10 to 15-1 this year. But, they ended up at 11-5, which is about right given the many close games that they played. As I said, the only clear loss this year was at the hands of the Pats. The Jets were not close to giving the Pats a game that day. My hope, obviously, is that the Jets get the chance to come back to Foxboro. I can't say I would feel great about their chances, but I'd like to see the opportunity.

It's simple: If they get past New England, they beat the Steelers in Pittsburgh assuming the Steelers win their divisional game. If Baltimore had won its division and gotten the second seed, they'd be all the scarier.

You're clearly not getting my point. I do know a W is a W and a L is a L. I'm just using those games as an example of the Jets' mediocre season. Yes, they made the post-season. However, they didn't play as good as they should have played. And the games I used as an example demonstrate that they were just minutes away from having a -.500 record. Luck was by their side in most of their games this season. And you can't deny that, because you know it's true.

ok, i get your point. My counterpoint was that there were just as many games that they lost that they could have won and their record would have been much better. But, I do understand what you mean. The Jets were not nearly as dominant as they stated they would be. A W is still a W, but as a fan a W is better when you don't have to sweat out the 4th quarter in every game. I was certainly disappointed with how the team played at many times this year. But, I was encouraged that they were winning many games that they typically would have lost in previous years. So, we'll have to see. No doubt, one and done would be a big disappointment for the Jets franchise this year.

As a Jets fan, it is more difficult to see the Pats continued success, even in a year that was supposed to be a down year. You guys have a lot to be proud of in your team. I don't believe that until Brady and Belly are gone that the Pats will ever be out of the hunt. That has to be a great feeling as a fan.

One thing that Pats fans don't seem to understand (or remember) is that when your team is generaly not good, it's tough. So, as a fan you get excited when your team is competitive. The Jets are clearly not at the Pats level yet, but at least they have been competitive for many of the seasons in the last decade. That is improvement. It makes it tough when you have a Patriot team in your division that is competitive every year. But, prior to Belly and Brady's arrival, the Pats were not a good team at all. I get the sense that many of the Pat fans, at least the new Pats fans, don't remember this. I definitely think it is more fun when both of these teams, and even the other teams in the division, are competitive.

In any case, I apologize for the smart remark, it was uncalled for. I just really wanted to point out that the Jets had a chance to win every game they played this year with the exception of the game against the Pats in Foxboro. They won some they could have lost and lost some they could have won. I do believe the Pats had at least a few games this year that could have gone in the L column that they held on to win. The only 2 losses the Pats had this year were clear losses.

In any case, gl to you. I hope the Jets earn the chance to come back to Foxboro, and I sincerely hope it's not the ass whooping they received a few weeks ago.

Not trying to defend the Jets fan but if you were a fan in 2003 and 2004 you would remember a great deal of games by the Pats those 2 years that were won by less than 3 or 4 points...if you don't think a little luck or good fortune happened in those seasons you are fooling yourself.

Good teams win those close games and good teams make the playoffs...including those teams who won by slim margins during the year.

1. Pats - Suprised?
2. Pittsburgh - Tough D and Big Ben shows up in the playoffs.
3. Green Bay - Aaron Rodgers is one of the best in the league, they also have the best D in the league and that will help against teams like Philly and NO.
4. Baltimore - Great D, their offense has weapons if they ever need to use them, but if Flacco can just manage the game and not make mistakes they can make a run.
5. Atlanta - Been solid all season and Matt Ryan in nearly unbeatable at home, but I can see anyone (except Seattle) taking them out.
6. Indy - I wish I could put them and the Jets tied for 11th but I'm being realistic.
7. Saints - Drew Brees, above average D, but no running game....but they basically have a bye week.
8. Philly - They shoot themselves in the foot quite a but Vick always saves the day....is he reverting back to the old Vick though?
9. Chiefs - Excellent ground game, Cassell should be in the pro bowl once a QB drops, D has looked great. 10-6 in the 2nd weakest division in the NFL....something tells they aren't what they appear to be.
10. Jets - I believe the Jets are better than KC but they have to win in NE to get to the SB no matter what....bad matchup for Sexy Rexy and the crew.
11. Da Bears - Pretty good D.....Cutler is absolute trash, he'll throw 6 INTs this postseason(which will likely last 1 game)
12. Seattle - .....:bricks:

1- New England - Best team having HFA

2- Steelers - They are ahead of all other teams by a step, so they should be fav anywhere but a AFCCG in Foxboro

3- Atlanta - They are not the best team, but the play mistake free and at home

4- Baltimore - Tjey were one of two teams that really played us to the limit.

5- Packers - its a long road, and they tend to selfdestruct, but they are the class of the NFC

6- Eagles - Not that far behind the pack

7- Colts - The Manning Factor

8- Chicago - Average team, but they managed to get the bye

9- Jets - Better than the Foxboro trashing, but worse then Ryans Propaganda

10- Saints - Long road ahead of them, and they are just not that good

11- Chiefs - Hard to see them not having at least one off game

12- Seattle - well if they need to be there, for the people who need divisions, they should at least have the decency to bow out quickly

Most of them are picking us to get to/win the SB....if you're talking about them literally hating the Pats, so does damn near everybody else.

I thought that one comment of "let someone else win it for a change" was funny, considering that the last five Super Bowls were won by someone else.

AFC
1) Pats: their run defense will keep Brady ON the field?
2) Pitt: O good enough if the D doesn't play their almost best?
3) Balt: O good enough if the D doesn't play their best?(they needed the bye)
4) Jets: Sanchez can win 4 games on the road lacking a great D and iffy ST?
5) Colts: PM plays best 4 games vs best 4 opponents(0 times done in 2010)?
6) KC:beat 0 playoff teams+mediocre offense= 4 wins vs best opponents?

NFC
1) ATL: Their O is a bit too easy to slow down?
2) GB: Very solid on both sides of the ball ...great on either side for 4?
3) PHIL:If Vick's running is 0 + 129 penalties vs needed playoff execution?
4) NO: Almost every game is close&now it is vs the 4 best w/3 on the road?
5) Chi: 3 to win-maybe only 1 on road makes up for frequent inconsistency?
6) SEA: Does that long shot horse with the sad look in its eyes and astoundingly sagging hump in its back win the 100 to 1 race in real life.... or just in the movies? Maybe if it is whipped from start to finish. PeteC is taking the horse bowling instead, can it still then pull off that miracle????

It's a #1 vs #1 year - Pats v Atl

I remember thinking to myself "huh?", when I was hearing more than one person say "I'm tired of them (Patriots) winning all the time, I want someone else to win" - before the super bowl following the 2003 season.

People love the story of the underdog overcoming huge odds to defeat a seemingly unbeatable, superior opponent. It's why nearly everyone outside of St Louis loved the Pats in 2001, and nearly everyone outside of New England wanted the Pats to lose six years later. Look at the popularity of the Rocky and Die Hard movies for example.

But win more than once and you're no longer the underdog - and those same people will quickly turn on you. However I do think another team might get away with winning more than once and not changing from fan favorite to despised team as long as there is a bigger villain hanging around. For example if the Saints were to win a couple more championships they will still be loved if they beat the Pats. However if the Pats were to become a mediocre team out of the playoffs and the Saints won it all a couple more times, then people everywhere except in Louisiana would change there tune and hate them too.
