talk about purposely causing a distraction to wreck the focus of a QB before the SB. this is a Goodall move or at least influenced by

Clayton has Brady on his All-Pro team, and if that dweeb has an MVP vote, its a relatively safe bet it went to him.

So that's 3.

When is All Pro announced, anyway? Because - sadly, since MVP has become a QB award - whoever is the AllPro QB has a damn good chance of being MVP, and we'd probably know then anyway.

Its a QB league, who else would win the award?

This is a dumb move by Goodell. I guarantee some people will get confused and won't be able to tell which MVP award is which.

Exactly. Why would they want such a significant announcement to get buried in the bottom of everyone's Super Bowl notes column?

He doesn't want any distractions from the beauty of the Pro Bowl.

Great move by Godell. He hopes that Brady will throw 6 picks in divisional and Vick goes to the SB to try to give him the MVP. Its absurd

Fair enough - I'm fine with giving it to a QB, if they earned it.

Clearly, Brady has.

But did Manning last year? Hells no. It was just a defacto status quo pick. I suppose that has more to do with his status as face of the league than his position, necessarily.

I personally would have given it to Brees last year but honestly were Turner and CJ decisively more valuable to their respective teams?

Best part of the "hat trick" is that Brady will have two hands on the Lombardi trophy and probably let Joe Buck or Aikman caddy the other two trophies.

Knock on wood...

Fair point - there is no way CJ had the value to TEN that Brees did for NO, or even Peyton for Indy. And I also would've given it to Brees.

So, I guess, ultimately, I have no problem with QBs winning it year after year - as long as they are the most deserving candidate, and of late, that does appear to be the case.

I don't get it. I thought the MVP award is about the regular season. All the votes are in. So why wait another 4 weeks to announce it?

Why try to make the season 18 games when only the owners think it is a good idea? It is the NFL, that's why. :bricks:

Seems like a needless distraction going into a big game. I guess they didn't figure giving the winner of the Steelers divisional game an extra day of rest was a big enough banana peel.

yah it kind of reminds me of the timing of the Tomase article minutes before SB42, or when the NFL flexed the mia-jet game from 1 pm to 4 pm on the last day of the 2008 season, thereby screwing the pats as the brett favre and the jets didn't really have a lot to play for after the pats won earlier and the ravens were blowing out its opponent, they laid and egg and mia won the division. had the nfl kept both games at 1 pm perhaps the jets play with more life . . . what i find interesting is merely two years removed from that event i have heard rumblings that the nfls is making a point to have all divisional games played at the same time, gee you are kind of two years too late to come up with that idea . . . but then again perhaps they had a motive in 2008 . . .

so with tomase article in the 07 seasons, the nfl flex schedule in 2008 and now the AP delaying the mvp annoucement till sb sundey in 2010, makes one wonder . . .

regarding div weekend, i am glad that we are the anchor game that weekend, cause like the steelers in 08 [who before they played a snap were looking at merely the 8-8 chargers are home, the winner gets baltimore, and the nfccg was already set up between phila and the cards], hopefully we will be looking at an easy road even before we take the field . . .
