What possible historical plays might we see in the Miami game?

BB proceeds to moonwalk down the sideline where he belly bumps Big Vince.

If that actually happened, BB would be found in Cocassett Lake.

Historical plays? I'll be content with a workmanlike victory where a team maintains focus and no players are injured.

Every play that comprises a championship season becomes historic.

I want Welker to kick a fieldgoal.

You mean we line up like going for it on 4th and 17. Brady in the shotgun. Welker motions to be hind him and the Brady kneels. That would be hilarious but expect lots of pissed off Dolphins.

Although if someone can drop kick a FG...:D

If there's anything like that for Edelman, I'd like for them to save it for the playoffs, no need to tip off the Pats next opponent.

One thing to consider, it might be too crazy to do in a game that matters anyway.

So you give the opponent film of you doing something you'd never do in a game that counts against a better team than the Dolphins.

The Triple Lindy. :D

Up 45 to nothing and winning the time of possession battle 37 min so 6 mins, BB punts on first down to give the defense some more reps.

Is BB literally gonna be the one punting? That'd be pretty historic and i'd love to see it.

BB puts the offense in playing defense and the defense in playing offense so as to not give any film to playoff opposition.

Actually always liked when we do that at the end of practice :)

How about Brady (or maybe even Hoyer) catching a TD pass?

OMG. This would be epic. He'd have TDs thrown, TDs rushed and TDs caught. Who has ever done this in a season?

In my fantasy world, i'd like to see a really mega heavy package on goal line. Ninkovich as eligible receiver, Crumpler and Gronk. Wilfork as FB. :)

I also think that by throwing gadget plays now that we'd never use in the playoffs, it forces our opponents to game plan against it.

I always thought belichick would run a single wing if he could one day.

There is no one "Single Wing," although you might think so, to hear people say somebody is running "the Single Wing." The appropriate response at that point should be, "what version?" The term "Single Wing" is an all-encompassing name given to any one of a wide variety of formations, whose only common feature often is nothing more than a direct snap to a man who is not "under center."

Several - but by no means all - of these formations are shown below. At one time, a direct snap to one formation or another was the most popular offensive system. The Single Wing was last run in the NFL by the Pittsburgh Steelers in 1947 (the year Curly Lambeau of the Packers switched over to the T-formation), under famed Coach Jock Sutherland, who compiled a 30-17-1 NFL record with it; and although it lasted into the early 1960s at the college level, it is now all but extinct there

The dolphins think they did it but the ball was snapped to a player under center which I don't believe is a real single wing ... any old timers here feel free to correct the above if needed. I have heard belichick discuss it before when speaking old time football which he loves to do.

single wing

Isn't the direct-snap to Faulk / Woodhead / Edelman run basically a variation of the Single-Wing, according to the definition of 'player not under center'?

I believe David Patten did this in a game. IIRC, it was against the Colts in 2001, which also happened to be Brady's first career start.

Goddamn dropkick... I was at that game but was in the bathroom when it happened!

Wow, I missed a really great game. This is the game recap

New England Patriots vs. Indianapolis Colts - Recap - October 21, 2001 - ESPN

David Patten of the Patriots caught a touchdown pass, threw a touchdown pass and rushed for a touchdown Sunday against the Colts, the first player to accomplish that feat since Walter Payton did it 22 years ago to the day. Patten is the sixth player since 1960 to get the touchdown trifecta. Patten had two TD catches Sunday, while Keith Lincoln of the Chargers had two TD passes in his trifecta game in 1965.

Date Player Opp.
10/21/01 David Patten
NE Colts
10/21/79 Walter Payton CHI Vikings
12/7/69 Harmon Wages ATL Saints
12/10/67 Dan Reeves DAL Eagles
11/7/65 Keith Lincoln SD Broncos
12/11/60 J.H. Johnson PIT Eagles

He should let his son call the game in the fourth quarter... that would be pretty epic.
