I think the FB out of usc havili or whatever would be a good pickup too. Not great speed but that's sometimes overrated
Interesting, considering he has quite a few long, long runs (75+ yard runs in three different games this year). I think he accelerates very well. He's sudden, powerful, and always moves forward. I don't know how you can average over 6 yards a carry without some sort of burst. :idontgetit:
Really? Those are the measureables everyone is thinking about? Not me. Give me a 5'10"-5'11" guy who goes 215-220 (Delone Carter, maybe?). Very few of those tall guys have long successful careers. There's Eddie George, and .........
I really don't like the idea of using a first round pick on a RB, but Leshoure really looked good last night. Regardless of what RB BB picks, you can rest assured that BB will not take a fumbler.
If we take any FB, it has to be Owen Marcecic of Stanford. What a beast! He plays offense, defense and ST. He was born to play in our organization.
I concur. That was my thought last night too!230 pounds but he runs too much like Maroney for my liking. I do want 1-2 young RB to replace Morris and Taylor but I'm not sure this guy is the one I want, especially in the second round.

Isn't Aaron Hernandez basically our h-back? He's not a TE in the way use one. If you play a fb, it's to pick up a yard or two on 3rd and short. In most other schemes you'd have to take Hernandez or Gronk out. We've even run Aaron a few times and he's done it well. I just don't think FB is a position in our offense.
Hernandez is often used like a WR, I think. But I agree, BB hasn't been carrying a classic fullback for a reason. That's why Havili is the one FB on my shopping list -- I think he has the athleticism to line up at RB and be a threat both running and catching.
The Game is changing, and it requires that we expand our vocabulary, I think.
Aaron Hernandez is what I'm inclined to call a Wing End, and a STUNNING one.
Rob Gronkowski is a Wing Back, and an amazing Wing Back, for one so young.
Alge Crumpler is, of course, a Tight End, and an utter BEAST.
Methinks you've taken your fondness for neologism too far. Any terminology which takes the label "Tight End" away from Gronk is overthinking in a big, big way. He's the dictionary definition.
neologism?? Really??

Stanley Havili and Peyton Hillis are simply Full Backs, in the Classic sense, but we can no longer call them Full Backs, can we ~ ?? ~ any more than we can call a Libertarian a "Liberal", as the inference has changed, dramatically.
"Full Back" now elicits visions of Owen Marecic and my BOY, Sam Gash.
Stanley Havili and Peyton Hillis ~ as well as Shaun Chapas, Charles Clay, and ~ above all ~ Marion Fannin and Owen Schmitt ~ are what I now prefer to call Swing Backs: "Full Service" Full Backs, if you will.

Except two of the only guys in history with 2000 yard seasons were over 6'1, with ****erson measuring in at 6'3 according to NFL.com. Eric ****erson, RB at NFL.com
Peterson, one of the best runners in the game today, is 6'1.5. *Adrian Peterson*|*Oklahoma,*RB*:*2007 NFL Draft Scout Player Profile
Well, look, For my money, Eric ****erson at full health was the best RB I've ever seen. I don't think he was 6'3" (probably 6' 1.5" or so), but if we can draft that combination of power, grace, endurance, and intelligence, I'm all for it. I mean, his second year in the league was, to me, the best RB season ever in the modern NFL. The guy could process the game as it was happening the way Brady does, and he was a freakin' gazelle who could set up a linebacker and make an ankle-breaking cut running full speed and could touch the ball 400 times a year without breaking down. The only weakness to his career was that he didn't love playing football, he always saw it as a job where he could make a lot of money. He couldn't wait to retire and not get hit 25 times a game.
I like Peterson too, but, like Brandon Jacobs, we're already seeing his body break down.
My favorite bigger back is the K-State guy, Thomas. If BB feels he needs an RB to fit that profile, he should be available Day 3.
Give Me
~ TB Danny WoodHead ~ Super Lighting Bug SLASHER!!
~ SB Owen Schmitt ~ Godzilla!!
~ FB Owen Marecic ~ THRASHER. BLASTER.
~ TB DaRel Scott ~ SLASHER. Runs like a MASHER. ~ 5th Rounder
~ HB Allen Bradford ~ Hard Yard MASHER. ~ 6th Rounder
~ SB Marion Fannin ~ Full Service Swing Back. ~ 7th Rounder
No good? Maybe we should coin a new word for it!
