Belichick's favorite team?

BB has been slippery when asked about his favorite team but I have got to believe that it is his current team. He did let slip to Fred and Steve that this was his most hard-working and diligent team.

I have to believe that coaching up such a talented group of youngsters must be tremendously satisfying although the final evaluation on his fav. team will obviously depend on the post season.

Looking at the post 2010 Patriots by draft you have to see why

“21 UFAs....Incredible.
23 after the 3rd round”

This is the youngest team and a team made up of guys no one else wanted or saw potential in. I was blown away by that. Coach of the year without a doubt.

My thoughts as well. The voters will want to give it to someone who hasn't got it before, but if your just look at each coach's piece of work this one has to be the best in the league this year.

Nah, I don't think this is his favourite. It's up there, maybe even second, but I think he'll always love the 2004 team the most.

Not arguing with you but is it b/c of 3 in 4 or last one with his dad or CW and RAC you think?

I gotta think 2001. It's kinda like your first born. You love all the kids equally but the first is just. well.....different.

If asked, I wonder if the 2007 squad closed the deal, where would they rank in his mind?

CW and RAC definitely had something to do with it, as with the sealing of the dynasty. I've bought the DVD of the 01, 03, and 04 seasons, and seeing inside the locker room and BB himself, it seems that it was his ideal football team.

2001's gotta be special as well.

07, I dunno. As great as it was, it wasn't the classic 'Patriots', Bill Belichick style team. It was more a collection of talent, IMO.

If I were to guess, I would guess that, based on what he said on the '04 America's Game, it would be the 2004 team. He was even asked by Kraft if that team was his favorite. I bet 2001 is up there as well as it's the first time he won a Super Bowl as a head coach.

Part of BB's success is that he doesn't allow himself to get too emotionally involved with players. I doubt that he does. He let Lawyer go right after that Super Bowl season (or was it the following year?) Head coaches can't allow their emotions to get in the way of tough personnel decisions. BB never has in the past.

Milloy was with the team in 2002. Belichick let him go right before Week 1 of the 2003 season.

'04 was my favorite team, mainly because I've never heard 70,000 fans act so tough, only to go home whimpering like those terrible towel wavers at Heinz Field. I still remember that game in slow motion, with all the big, bad talk and constant reminders about the Halloween game, with the Patriots going in there with their hatchets and chopping them up slowly.

It was at that point when I wondered if perhaps Brady was going to be the greatest quarterback of all-time.

I would think it's this years team.

Belichick has stated that one of the things he likes the most is developing young players. Aside from the few FA's he's picked up, these are all his guys. Faulk is the only player left that Belichick inherited.

2004 was his favorite team because of the ease with which the mad scientist in him could manage those consumate pros. They were his cameleons and he could do anything with them. 2001 was his WTF team, even he couldn't believe they won it all. 2009 was clearly his other WTF team, for an entirely different reason. 2007 probably has a special place because of what they accomplished while he was personally and professionally under seige. 2008 a few chinks were starting to appear in that groups armor, but they withstood the proverbial the bullit through the heart in week one and made him look even more legitimately genius at a time when his critics thought they finally had him on the ropes.

This team is likely his second favorite of all time because he's the teacher's son at heart and it's all kids he drafted or swapped for or supposed jags snagged off someone else's scrap heap and while it's been a process they are mastering it. In a way Crumpler and Warren are like the 2003 version of Rodney, guys presumed largely past their prime who are playing pivotal roles on and off the field that the media couldn't remotely envision.

With Ty Warren and Bodden coming back and all those damnable picks he keeps trading back for in the pipeline it's downright scary but he could end up in 2011 or 2012 with the team that displaces that 2004 team on his favorites list. Hopefully a couple of guys don't decide they don't want to be part of that because egos or benjamins get in the way of winning.

In the first dynasty, there were many elements left over from Parcells in the coaching staff and the players, as well as many players left over from Pete Carroll. The current team has very little influence from past regimes. Even Pioli has been gone for two years. This young team is more of a reflection of BB than any team prior, and it is evident in their hard work and maturity. If this team wins it all, they'll be his favorite, and may be already.

Set up for long term success, this team is why BB trades picks down and for future picks and why he trades aging stars for future picks. This is BB's masterpiece, a team that he has built from top to bottom. If BB does not win coach of the year, it will be a crime.

I think this question is as silly as asking a parent which of their children is their favorite.
