Jets on way to implosion

Hehe. . . welcome to Schadenfreude Central.

In truth, Brian Schottenheimer has been driving many Jets fans for several years.

Sanchez has played 29 games where the opposition was trying to win. He is 17-12 in those games, which is pretty good. Of those games:

  • Five (17%) were good efforts...over 60% with less than 2 turnovers. 5-0 record
  • Six (21%) were reasonable efforts...close to 60% with less than 2 turnovers. 4-2 record
  • Four (14%) were train-wrecks...under 50% with 2+ turnovers. 0-4 record
  • Fourteen (48%) were other...not good, but not disasters. 8-6 record
While he has improved his TD/INT ratio by a lot, his completion percentage and YPA are actually down this year. Despite a year of experience, a full offseason and the much ballyhooed west coast camp he hosted. And he has shown the same proclivity for handling the ball like a loaf of bread.

Most disturbing to the Jets should be that Sanchez hasn't show any ability to handle adverse weather. He was fortunate last year with the weather situation, but not so much this year. Sanchez is just 24 but if he doesn't turn that around in the next 3 games (Pittsburgh, Chicago, NJ), the Jets will have to worry if all they have is a dome/autumn QB.

Here's several prime reasons why a Rex Ryan team will never grow up and be the Patriots:

Jets LB Bart Scott says Rex Ryan's comments on defense were taken out of context | NJ.com

1) Look at all the time Bart Scott is taking to parse what Rex Ryan said to the team and why it was misinterpreted by Shaun Ellis and the others - - nice way to focus on Pittsburgh. Who has time for that crap on the Patriots???? The Jets have no focus and their head is not into the game.

2) Santonio Holmes IN THE MIDDLE OF THE GAME telling the Special Teams coach not to have him return anymore punts because he was too frustrating that the Miami punter was punting too far and not allowing Santonio to 'make his moves'. What an immature non-professional. Can you IMAGINE any Patriot ever having that mindset???? Say what you want about Randy Moss, but even he knew not to have that mindset when he was here.

The Patriots are men. The Jets are boys.

Thats a very funny thread, #60s pretty good too.

Yep, props to the ganggreen crowd! They do self-flagellation so brilliantly, who needs trolls?

You won't find a single long-term Jets fan than isn't a soft-masochist, PC. Not a one. Even Joe Benigno on WFAN today was talking about how his daughter cursed him out for making her a Jets fan. I have a different problem - my folks are from DC/VA and are Redskins fans, the rest of the family are Giants fans, and we all grew up in the shadow of Schaefer Stadium (heh) with Pats fans. I went a different way. A tortuous way.

•Grounded Jets: Last week, New York Jets coach Rex Ryan buried a football to symbolize the mind-set needed to get past the embarrassing blowout loss against the New England Patriots.

Amid a funk that continued with Sunday's loss to the Miami Dolphins, the Jets' much-hyped intentions of winning the Super Bowl might also be destined for a grave.

By contrast the the second section of the article lauds the Patriots for pulling away from the rest of the pack at this point. Two trains headed in opposite directions.

Folks, this is a thread about the Jets imploding. I've had to delete several posts about other teams and power rankings because they were not on subject.

Please keep all posts in this (and any thread for that matter) on subject.

thanks!

i actually think the jets have chance vs the bears ,maybe even pitt. both of them have average offense like the jets so a couple of plays/breaks they can win them. Especially chicago which if it clinches the div on monday may have nothing to play for and their offense isnt any good.

I thought you were one of the exceptions, Jack. But I guess the difference is this. Being long-suffering and putting up with one's destiny as a kind of curse is one thing. You can't have been a Pats fan before BB without having something of that. (Personal confession. I was convinced that SB XXXVI was going to be a repeat of Chicago-NE: a total meltdown. That was what happened to the Pats.)

Going through that whole "this-time-it's-different" blowhard thing only to turn viciously on the coach/players/ownership when things don't work is different -- and much more sick.

2 weeks ago people were picking the Jets the beat the Patriots and put on cruise-control to the #1 seed in the AFC.

Now they've lost 2 in a row, in humiliating fashion and are looking like a mess.

Only a matter of time before Deion Sanders calls out Rex Ryan. You know he's the only one with enough guts in the media to do it too.

Brian Schottenheimer: "I know I'm a damn good football coach."

Gotta love that the chest-thumping doesn't end with the players, head coach, fans, and sideline hit-men. What is funny is that the Jets offensive gameplans are fine. You can't execute them when your quarterback can't complete four yard passes.

Other loser news from today:

Santonio Holmes keeps talking about how great he is.

Rex Ryan throws Sanchez under the bus for his clock killing spike.

This is really fun... I hope Rex Ryan is their coach for many years to come.

"I'm good enough, I'm smart enough, and gosh darn it people like me!"

In the meantime, from the article:

"Schottenheimer said he's been taking the lions share of the blame offensively each time the team has struggled. He cited an article that ran last year with the headline saying the Jets offense needed a "Schott" in the arm.

In response, he carried it with him in his briefcase.

"I'm used to it," Schottenheimer said. "It comes with the territory. Hopefully we win ....."

Dear Lord, that franchise is a collection of basket cases.
