Metrodome collapsed

I was just going to wonder if the same people who built the Civic Center dome built this one.

IIRC, didn't the same folks who build the Hartford Civic Center also build the Cowboys bubble? If they did the metrodome too then they should never build another effing thing and everything else they built should be torn down.

Whoa.

How does that work for fans holding tickets? Can they use their tickets to this game?

Anyone see the footage on the collapse on Fox, wild stuff. Imagine if that heppened during the game?

Just saw a tweet from Schefter.. New Orleans offered the use of the Superdome..

Classy move by the Saints Owner.

Not sure.. I know when they moved the SD game to Arizona, they gave away tickets and asked that people make donations..

Any season ticket holder let us know what your contract say???

I think they will have to give refunds to ticket holders as it is in another city if people aren't able to go. (like they did with Saints ticket holders in 2005).

I would assume, Viking STH, and those people holding tickets to the game (even if not STH) would get first shot at tickets either by exchanging the ticket or they might just refund everyone and let those who hold the tickets get first crack at buying tickets. Then what ever is left over be sold to the general public.

I am sure if that Viking STH will be strongly encouraged to just apply any refund to next years tickets instead of getting a check and then mailing it back.

Too bad they couldn't get things to work out at the U of Mn field. But, it would have been outdoors and it is really cold there right now. My parents said it would be -14F in the morning and probably 0F (best case) that night for the game. That means crazy wind chill factors of -30F and such. People would probably end up with hypothermia.

Well, they immediately ruled out any outdoor stadium because the Giants didn't have any cold weather gear with them..

I wonder if this game will set a record for smallest attendance of an NFL game.

Wow, I didn't realize the same people built the CC and the Dallas bubble. I always assumed that the CC debacle was the result of the rampant mafia and union corruption in Hartford. Ugh...

Just said on NFLN admission to the game in Detroit Monday night is free. Guess that's easier than the logistics problem of dealing with tickets.

Why not play it in KC, the Giants are already there and you just have to get the Vikings there.....

i believe the Giants are traveling for an indoor game (i.e. no grass cleats, no Under Armor, etc). They will have to send their equipment guy back to NJ or at least go to Sports Authority and clear them out.

edit: looks like this has been pointed out already

A few things:

Cover-All Building Systems is the company that built the Cowboys Practice Bubble. They also built a warehouse in Philadelphia that collapsed. An Engineering Intern was the one who did the calculations for the buildings. His work was NOT checked by his supervisor. He and his supervisor were both fired not long after the completing of the Dallas and New England practice bubbles.

Fraoli, Blum, and Yesselman Engineers were the ones responsible for designing the Hartford Civic Center.

New York-based Geiger Berger Associates designed the Metrodome's roof and it's based off a design by Lev Zetlin.

Not sure who actually manufactured the roof components.
