Red Sox Trade for Adrian Gonzalez

according to buster onley the sox and Gonzalez are far apart in contract negotiations. if they go into the up coming year with out gonzo inked to a new deal then this trade sucks. i only like this trade with gonzo signed sealed and delivered.

gonzo has been a star for my padres but with you guys...wow

he's going to explode and get to pujols level IMO

he was held down by a real lack of lineup protection, and playing in such a crappy pitcher's park

i expect him to hit 40hrs AT THE LEAST, every season spent in the AL

and his defense is the best in baseball......

oh and to top it off, get this, he has started to go opp field at will when the need arose, and he even dropped down some bunts out of necessity late last season

he's slow as hell, but he's so selfless

hate to talk so well about how he's going to do because i of course hate boston , new england, and all of you (no offense, just hate you in the sports world) but this guy is really such a great person , i really hope he wins a ws title or two in boston

he's earned it having to deal with the padres cheap-ass owners

The Sox ownership should back up the Brinks truck for AGon. Have no fear, though. You know they'll come to an agreement before the season starts. Supposedly, Gonzalez was really excited about coming to Boston.

he should be

dude is going from a cheap ass team to a team who likes to spend money

going to a park that's MUCH easier to hit hrs out of

and going from an awesome pitching staff to still pretty good pitching staff

the dude hit the trifecta, the only downside is he may have to deal with snow, but then again it's not like he has to LIVE there lol

Consider if he signs an extension before the season his new AAV will count towards the luxury cap, if he signs a deal after the season starts its only a 6 mill luxury tax hit this year, thats what they did with Beckett, I wouldnt be surprised if they have something agreed upon and its get announced in April, no way Theo lets this guy get away, hes coveted him for quite a while and he has him in his grasp.

Your comparing someone who they thought had only a couple good years left with someone thats in his prime. Agon plays first, he can be productive into his mid thirties, hes already slow so you dont worry about him losing speed. I would say the length of contract is what they're haggling over now and not the yearly salary.

So the 2:00 deadline has come and gone. Have the torches begun burning for John Henry's lifeless body up in Boston yet?

I don't know why I fell into the trap again, this team constantly does this to us. Get us as high as Mount Everest only to push us off into Death Valley.

I mean, when you guys got the deal in place with SD, what did you expect Adrian to want in an extension? A team friendly contract?

This FO really needs to take a look in the mirror and find out why they can never get the big deal done.

JFC!! If they're going to have to overpay someone, this is it. It's sh!t like this that confuses me as to who the **** is making these decisions.

Just pay Gonzalez!
I can't believe this deal may fall through, again, because the Sox won't pay a little extra to land a stud player. Texeira all over again.

From Gonzalez's point of view, he's looking at what the Sox paid to get Lackey and the years Lackey got as an already old pitcher, and thinking he can get what he wants.

I want to hear the details before I blame anyone, could be Gonzalez was asking for way too much. Im all for paying superstars but you cant just go to these negotiations with an open checkbook.

It's the MLB, the Boston Red Sox, and Adrian Gonzalez. Sure you can.

give it up over the texeira comparison . its like comparing apples and oranges. if the deal for gonzo is dead then its on the sox fo. but the texeira negotiation wasn't

the only point i was making regarding damon is that you can never say never. nobody at the time thought damon was going to leave the redsox. all that year all you heard was don't worry they will get a deal done blah blah blah. the sox ended up being wrong on damon. he was worth the extra money and time on the contract he got from the yankees.
