Was he a decent player in the UFL ? Anyone have his stats ?

I am concerned about Wright. If he can't go that does hurt the pass rush in a pretty significant way.

re: transfer fee. Dale and Holly speculated that Moore paid the $25k.

It depends on how quickly Eric "Roger" Moore can pick up the defense and how effective he can be at getting off blocks and causing some disruption in the backfield. Pretty simple answer for a simple question. If he can do that, losing Wright (our best interior pass rusher, for my money) doesn't hurt as much. If Moore can't do that, then it still hurts a lot.

There's a 25k transfer fee? Undoubtedly the Pats paid it then. I very much doubt Moore could afford it even if he wanted to. And besides why would he pay 25k out of his own pocket when it's mighty likely he gets cut in a week or two if he fails to impress? The Pats must really see something in this guy. Or are they that desperate for pass rush?

Hey guys this is what Eric Moore last accomplished when he was in the NFL. He used to be a Carolina Panther.

I hope he's made some leaps and bounds improvements since then!

Question for Miguel or other cap expert.....

While it doesn't matter this year, what is the rule regarding if the team pays this fee to the UFL does it count towards the cap as salary or is it just a general business expense similar to pay for a players hotel room during training camp?

So, Woods was replaced. I don't see the big deal. Depending on the health of Pryor and Wright, he may or may not even be active. Belichick does a lot of shuffling at the bottom of the roster, especially late in the season. For example, these last two additions may be more about 2011 than 2010.

This post nails it all down.... Well said!

I'm not sure Moore will be ready for Monday, if he is he's purely a situational edge rusher. If he is active and in the game Monday, we may see NE's plan to handle three very mobile QBs whom BB wants kept in the pocket - Sanchez, Cutler, Rogers.

It's truly astonishing ~ I did not say SURPRISING ~ that guys like Ian Rappaport of the Herald, and whoever the idiots are that currently write for the Glob actually think the guy's gonna play End for us. :bricks:

I highly doubt he plays at all. The guy is barely a JAG for goodness sake.

2 sacks in 5 NFL years .... be still my beating heart.

BB looked at him in September and again. Heck, the guy wants to play anyway. What's the deal with the UFL?

Not making the direct comparison, but Mike Vrabel was going to retire before we picked him up. Guys got the size and apparently has only played 4-3 DE, so maybe our defense will have a spot for him if he learns.

Hope Woods stays by his phone. If I was a betting man, I'd bet that we probably haven't seen the last of Pierre on the 2010 squad.

Well, good luck to him, and congrats on picking up a game check.

I hope Woods winds up in a career some day working with young people. His life history is a good match for that, and his character/personality seem to be as well.

Moore has nothing to do with Wright. They play entirely different positions

Thats not true about Vrabel.

I've read somewhere that Vrabel was considering a career change when the pats got him. It's not an unfounded rumor.

Vrable was signed as a Free Agent after 3 years in Pittsbrgh. I have no idea what you read.

head coach Bill Cowher told Vrabel that while he believed Vrabel would be a starter in the NFL, he wouldn't be a starter with the Steelers. Vrabel has since credited Cowher for his decision not to retire and sign with the Patriots.

Various online encyclopedia type sites have this quote. I could list ten, but they obviously derive from the same site and i can't find the original source. You say it's not true?

I should have said "considering" rather than going to retire, but until I find a better source I'll consider it a WIKI rumor. Of course you're implying that he never considered retirement so I'm wondering what evidence you have.
