Anyone else shocked Jets are 9-2?

The Jets won by 16. Without that play they would have lost, you are correct.

Anyone can argue luck when you only look at the plays in which your argument receives benefit. For example: The Jets won in miraculous fashion due to the ineptitude of Houston's pass defense in the final minute (re: throw to Edwards at 5 yard line). 'OMG JETS R SO LUCKY R U F'N KIDDIN ME TEXAS'NS R SO STUPID WOWWWW' I could also say that the Patriots beat the Lions solely on the ineptitude of Alphonso Smith. Is that lucky? No, but if the Jets did it I'm sure it would be called as such.

Exactly how is finding a weak link in the defense and exploiting it lucky? The Pats beat the Lions by 21 points and outscored them 35 to 7 in second half. Did Smith throw two INTs to McCourty. I doubt anyone would call the Jets lucky if they won by 21 points and dominated like the Pars dis Weak rebuttal.

I don't think the Jets were lucky against the Bungles except for having them ontheir schedule. There are other games where the Jets were fortunate to get wins. I wouldn't say they were lucky.

I suppose not really considering the jets schedule has been easier than ours. In the season through week 12, the combined W/L record for the Pats opponents was 57-64 while the jets faced a 52-69 W/L opponent record (using week 12 records, of course).

The final 5 games are nearly even with the Pats facing a 32-23 opponent record and the jets facing 33-22.

The end totals: NE faced a 89/87 season record (using records from week 12), while the jets faced 85/91.

Taking a look at these and extending them into week 12 was interesting.

Code:
NE prevailed against these teams with winning records: MIA, BAL, SD, PIT, IND
NE lost to these teams with winning records: NYJ
NE Quality games yet to play: NYJ, CHI, GB, MIA
NE now 5-1

NYJ prevailed against these teams with winning records: NE, MIA
NYJ lost to these teams with winning records: BAL, GB
NYJ Quality games yet to play: NE, MIA, PIT, CHI
NYJ now 2-2

Assuming all current winning teams remain winning teams, we would have to lose all our remaining 4 quality games and they would have to win all their remaining 4 to beat us out of the quality standings.

I am not shocked, but am surprised because I expected them to implode mid-season and take a few games to get focused. (hoping that's still going to happen. :D)

A win is a win and IMO, it doesn't matter if they pull off a W on a last minute play or had to go to OT a few times. Impressed that in all those games that they should have lost, they did not give up hope and snatched a W. Rex is doing a great job in having them believe themselves.

I am also pleasantly surprised by our record. :)

I will probably get blasted for this but wutever. Everyone is saying the Jets have been lucky and have played no one this year but the Pats and are not as good as there record. When they played Miami in Miami they where 2-0 and it was there season opener at home not an easy win for any team. Browns in Cleveland coming of wins against Saints and Pats in back to back weeks. Lions in Detriot with Stafford as the QB not there back up. There a completly diffrent offense with him at QB and then Denver in Denver not easy game for anyone and I belive Denver where in first pllace in there devision at the time.

I'am not saying the Jets are going to beat the Pats this week based on all this in fact I think there going to loose in a close game and I'm a Jets fan I'm just pointing out that the Jets have not had an easy road to 9-2 as everyone says

Don't waste your breath. Even if the Jets win this game they will still trash anything the Jets do.

And here I thought you were not insightful.:D

Someone forgot to tell the Jets they don't ever have two good seasons in a row. They lost a great historical tradition. I'll be Jets fans are beside themselves.

I'm sure they will. I'm just saying its very easy to say there a product of there schedule but when you really look at it and see when the games where played and where they where played its not that easy.

As someone who thinks that the pats were lucky in getting a few wins that lead to a SB, yeah i think the jests have been lucky in two or three games. But like i say ...i'd rather be lucky than good.

Actually, I've refused to call any team lucky since the Ben Drieth call. The Jets have handled their business as we've handled ours in past SB seasons form. You take advantage of what's given to you, and if you can't, make your own advantages, i.e. you make your own luck. I thought they would start mounting up losses after GB, but they haven't. Their season reminds me very much of the Antoine Smith fumble game back in 01, in reverse. Using luck as an example.

What scares me is the fact that Rex might just be the personality type to lead a bunch of misfits into victories by making them forget that they are still football players first, and let their natural talents lead the team. Those players are not making any mistakes come crunch time. Which is the worst part, considering that they are becoming 60 minute game savvy, and that's how we used win. That's the one thing that comforts me about Bill and Tom. The most worrisome is that our young aren't savvy enough, yet.

Well, facts are facts. The Jets are 1-2 against teams that are potential playoff teams and 2-2 against teams with winning records. I think the Browns and Lions are better than their record, but as Parcells has always said, "You are what your record says you are".

As for the Dolphins, yes they were 2-0 when the Jets faced them. The Dolphins beat two juggernauts the first two weeks - Buffalo and Minnesota. It is amazing that the Jets could sneak by a team that could beat those teams. Also, Miami is 1-4 at home. So their season opener is irrelevant because they suck at home this year.

As for Denver not being an easy game, they aren't 3-8 for nothing. They are 2-4 at home. Let's not make them something they are not. They are a bad team and beating them is no big feat even at home. BTW, they were 2-3 when the Jets played them.

To be fair, all you hear on the Jets board is how strong the Ravens started (eventhough they lost to a crappy Bengals week 2) and had declined to an average team by the time the Pats had played them (although their only other 2 losses this season are against 9-2 teams), the Steelers were just all beaten up when they played the Pats (although the same beaten up team crushed the Raiders the week later), the Colts were also all beaten up when they beat the Pats, and the Pats were lucky that Alfonso Smith sucks against the Lions (although Smith played vs. the Jets and he played pretty well vs. them). Many Jets fans feel the Pats are a 6-10 team that has lucked into 9-2.

I have said on one of the Jets' boards that you can only play the games on your schedule, but I feel the Jets haven't proven they can beat the best teams in the league yet. They face the Pats, Steelers, and Bears over the next month. If they finish 3-0 or 2-1 in those games, then they will shut up their critics. If they finish 0-3 or 1-2, they might be looking at one and done in the playoffs.

Who ever thinks the Pats are lucky to be 9-2 rite now are either ignorant or know nothing about football. Sure I can say well Pats beat San Diago when that team was in disarray but truth is its not easy for any east coast team to fly cross country and win in there house. Same as its not easy for an east coast team to fly cross country to Denver on short week and win there.

As far as the fish go you cant honestly tell me that if the Pats where playing them when they where 2-0 in there season opener on national tv you would call it an easy game.

Yes you are wut your record is unless you play in the nfc west where the division champs are going to be 7-9 lol truth is both teams are 9-2 and this should be a hell of a game on monday.

Not shocked. They have a solid defense. Its nice when you have a lockdown corner on one side to do things. They have weapons on offense.

I am for one.

I never expected the jets to have this good of a record at the beginning of the year. And after watching some of games they've played makes it even more surprising they are 9-2. Aside from their last game against the Bengals, they have really stunk! But lucky for them, their opponents have stunk even more. But luck only goes so far I suppose, so they must be pretty good, athough I really don't see it.

I never ever would have imagined them at the top of the NFL 12 weeks into the season. I'm sure they'll say they expected it, as shown by their boasting and attitude prior to the season, but then again they do that every year. Although not to this degree.

If there is a god, the jets will lose the rest of their games. I hate it when *******s (such as Rexy, classy LD, weeping Sanchez, etc) win and are rewarded for basically being loudmouth pricks.

EDIT: Cleaned it up a little so my hatred doesn't show through so much.
I dont know how that one vs the Bengals is impressive. They were losing at the half, and had a KO return TD and a punt that hit off the head of a player that wasnt looking for their scores.

Right, and you spend all of your time praising the PAtriots right?

There are 2 ways to look at the Jets:

1) They have been the recipient of some stupid, choking play by bad teams that had them beat and handed it back, and without those have been about a .500 team. OR
2) They are mentally tough, know how to win and simply find a way.

I don't think it is even debatable that both of these are possible, and that we really do not know yet which it is.
I have my opinion.
But that opinion really isnt relevant, because starting next Monday and carrying through road games at Pitt and Chicago and 2 more division games, and the playoffs if they qualify, the question will be answered.

Isnt it funny how only the good teams seem to get lucky. There is no luck involved in football. The Jets took a lot of high risk big playmaking players and put them on one team. When you have a team full of playmakers there is always someone to help put a game away in the last minutes.
I am shocked to be 9-2 I predicted 7-4 or 8-3 at best but Im more shocked that the Pats are 9-2. I thought it was going to be Jets and Dolphins competing at the end but I should have known better.

I am for one.

I am too. I didn't expect them to sustain that level of play for this long. I thought they'd lose steam at some point, fold up like cheap suits and wither away on their green vine:D And with good reason, that's what they typically do lol. I'm shocked they're still going strong but they are so, credit where it's due I guess:cool:
