what if Butler wants another shot at Braylon?

im still big on butler, hes going to be a good player for us when he gets an opportunity again but i think we'll have arrington against braylon quite a bit because arrington is our most physical corner and we've used him as a press guy whenever we wanted to stop opposing receivers. hes physical, strong and good tackle for most part but i wouldnt mind having mccourty on edwards just to shut him down so the bum doesnt think hes better than he really is

After McCourty, CB spot is a big ?. Arrington took back his spot last week, but had some problems after being benched against the Colts. Butler seemed to play well the past couple of weeks. Jets run the ball well and Arrington may hold up best on the edge. Wilhite was doing well in the slot before his injury, so his status bears watching when the injury report comes out. Holmes has been their big play guy recently and he should draw a lot of attention.

After the way he got abused in red zone and goal line situations by Edwards, I'd be pretty hesitant to give him it.

They usually line B. Edwards up on the right now. D.McCourty will cover him. S. Holmes usually lines up left. That may not be a bad matchup for Darius. Santonio isn't the big wr who can outmuscle him.

He might not be 'big', but he out muscles CB's all the time. In fact thats a big part of his game.

Asante Samuel was injured during that stretch. Don't you remember the Rams game where he was injured early in the game and Troy Brown replaced him at cornerback?

No, thanks for that though. I just remember that Asante exploded onto the scene in his 3rd year. His second year seems to have been a productive one with growing pains.

I think Butler's absence is not just performance related, but maybe that whole twitter thing too. Just speculating here. How many Pats tweet like him?

If players play bad because they use twitter then butler should be Our 3rd CB with Wilhite and Arington both starting with McCourty 4th

I unno i would be surprised if BB put him on Braylon or let him play. If he does, then we could probably say that he is comfortable with him out there and trusts him, im not sure that is going to happen.

When Arrington lines up as a DE/OLB Butler is out there. He had about 20 snaps last week, I think he will see somewhere around the same this week.

i dont mean an Andre type shot, I mean another shot at covering him

with the switching going on in recent weeks at the RCB spot, who is starting, and who would you like to start?

I personally believe fire in the belly counts for a LOT in football, so if Butler has been a gamer this week in practice I'm all for using him

If Butler wants another shot at Braylon in 2010, I'd suggest he try it on Madden.

I think you give him a chance. As i recall, everybody was pretty excited about him last year for his potential. I haven't given up on him yet. He has talent.

I watched him his whole career at UConn too, and i know it's college, and in the big east at that, he still has skills

But did he reach his full potential last year?, can he get any better?

Maybe that's possible...
but he was better last year than he has been this year. I don't know what kinda time he puts in and how he does at practice or anything like that.
I just can't give up on a second year guy

It seems like he is still putting the time in and working hard. He must have shown BB something because recently he has seen an increased number of snaps instead of an occasional play here or there.

I agree it is tough to give up on a second year guy that was drafted in the 2nd round. Definitely keep him around and if he can develop into something.

I was a big fan of Butler coming into the draft. Granted that was mostly based on his skills shown at the combine, but I still think he has major upside. That said I don't think he's ready to be physical enough for a guy like Braylon. Edwards gets away with a LOT of push offs and I think McCourty would be better suited on him. Butler has the speed and leaping ability to keep up with Santonio.

One of the Problems with Darius Butler is that he has a really Thin Frame...you can see why Teams see that as an exploit especially when they have a Big fast WR matched up with him. I think Darius really needs to hit the weights hard in the Offseason to put some bulk on that skinny frame.

As a fan, I have more patience with young CBs than any other position. It just seems like they take longer to develop than linemen, linebackers, recievers, etc. I remember watching Asante Samuel and wondering how he even made the practice squad, then over the course of 1-2 seasons he developed into a real playmaker.

We are blessed to have McCourty as an exception to that rule.

The problem is that they don't really match up CBs on WRs, they're just assigned a side. So you can't really say which CB is going to get which WR

Doesn't matter if he wants another shot I don't see him as worthy enough to be on the field in a big game like this. You can't take any chances and apparently Butler has done nothing during practice to warrant him playing. Sanchez would pick him apart as of right now.

Like it or not, Butler is going to be playing Monday night.

It took Moss quite a few shots at Revis before an injury brought him a personal victory. I'm not sure Butler wants to go through that.
