I think the Brandon Tate experiment is over

This thread is way premature. Tate needs to show more but his career is far from over. The Maroney's Defenders Club protected him for over 5 years. And some still defend him to this day even with him stinking it up in Denver with a 2.1 ypc. Clearly it wasn't the system and clearly it wasn't some weird 'aversion' the OL had to blocking for him. Let's give Tate a couple of years of play time before we talk about cutting him. Maroney got twice as much slack on these forums.

Yes, but there's a clear difference between Maroney and Tate. To wit: RB is one of the easiest positions to make the transition from college to the NFL, while WR is one of the hardest.

From what I've seen the average transition time for a WR out of college to the Pro level is about 3 years. Tate missing his entire first year hurt his development as well. So I think some patience is warranted in this case. He did have a big drop but that was the only look he got today. With Branch and Welker so ON, there really wasn't much reason for Brady to look Tate's way.

Its like people sit at home and the sole thing they look for in a game is to pick out a player to start a thread moaning about. I don't understand it

Don't you see? If people call things out on a message board and they come true at some point they can go around to their friends and tell them "I told you so". And then said friends tell them they're a loser for hanging out on a message board making predictions, and it damages their self esteem. And so the vicious cycle starts all over again as they try to prove their self worth to themselves by making random and bold predictions. It's quite sad actually.

If you're willing to give up on a prospect like Tate before he even plays a full season, I'm just glad you're not in charge of anything related to the Patriots.

Agreed. I like Tate, and I think he'll end up being a good WR in the league. But people gotta be patient; it's a young team, and ups and downs are to be expected.

Tate needs to learn to let the ball come into his hands ...

I think he'll work hard at it and I don't think his leash is any longer than the next draft.

We all want to keep on hoping that 3rd round pick will come to fruition, and his kick return ability (which hasn't been as explosive lately) has kept us hanging on... but I think it's clear that this guy is not a starting-calibre WR in this league.

I actually don't even see how you can argue this. The guy has absolutely no skills that a WR needs. Takes forever to get to top speed, doesn't cut particularly well, clearly has mediocre hands at best, and can't even adjust to balls very well. Why do we want him?

I hope somehow we can trade for Larry Fitzgerald... now that he wants out.

Its not over.

Kinda unbelievable post. Way too early to give up on him. Agree he's been bad, but he was never projected to be a #1 WR. He is what he is--not a future hall of famer but a guy that could turn into a solid part of an offense, as well as kick returner.

I have a feeling because of his play, Brandon Tate will threw HUGE when the pats really need him :yeeha:

This reminds me of the thread where guys wanted to bench (or even cut) Gronk after the Browns game, but then went silent after Gronk came back to destroy Pittsburgh.

Tate's basically a rookie WR, a difficult position for kids to contribute right away. Lets not flip out and over-react over a handful of plays. He may be a bust, but no one can say for sure for several more years.

You suck at posting. GFY.

Truly one of the dumbest threads I've read on this board in the last 3 years and that's saying alot given how many idiots post here.
Dude, you shouild be ashamed of yourself for such a shallow short term perspective. Hard to beleive we root for the same team.

Yeah, the bum only had a 17-yard end around. . . . Cut him!

Tate is inconsistent - and his future depends on his getting more consistent. But talk of cutting him is just nonsense.

he made a critical drop for sure but i still believe in him

It's just unbelievable. The kid drops an easy ball and that's it. He stinks, the nice end around does not matter, the 2 TD's scored on kick offs don't count...And on and on the stupidity goes. Some idiot posted in another thread that Coach B. is "a terrible defensive mind". So many idiots!!!

i hope this was posted out of anger because it was straight moronic, sorry but we won and you come with this crap? they had a good gameplan to contain his return ability, but he has great speed which you can't question and he has excellent cutting ability

I'm far from ready to give up on Tate -- but I'd rather have Hernandez out there in most situations. Hernandez can get deep, is a better blocker, is a bigger target, has better hands, and is a matchup nightmare giving the Patriots advantages vs almost any defensive package...

Tate certainly hasn't been playing well this year. I agree that it takes him a while to get to top speed and that's why, I believe, he isn't getting separation. But his cuts are good and, from what I've seen, so is his route running. With that said, though, this is essentially his rookie year and he's coming off of a few bad knee injuries. Give the kid a little more time.

Word to the wise, don't create knee-jerk reaction threads during a game, save those comments to the game thread...:bricks::bricks::bricks:
