Tyrone McKenize not cut - but premature rumor that he was cut: Reiss

Don't forget about the 3rd round pick that also had a hard time picking up the 3-4, Greg spires. Some of these guys go on to play elsewhere and play well.

People watching Tyrone at camp this summer kept mentioning how hard he was hitting people, tackling, wrapping up, etc.

He was deficient in other areas.

I'm sure some teams could use a backup run stopper in the middle of their 4-3.

My perception is that Spires didnt have a hard time picking up the 3-4. he was just the wrong bodytype for a 3-4 DE or a 3-4 OLB.

My .02$

Was just going to post this. Spires is/was a 4-3 DE and not really a great fit at DE or OLB in the 3-4.

I have a feeling White is Izzo Redux .....

Not sold on Guyton yet....he misses alot of assignments/tckls. It's not like he's new to the system.

The QB Crompton ,out of Tenn. I think, was touted as a top 10 QB in the draft. Small body of work but like a 68% comp rate. Strong arm. Maybe he's a diamond in the rough, maybe not.

Best of luck to him. Honestly, though, Spikes made me forget about him. spikes is the run stuffing, Strongside ILB , Ted Johnson type on the team, and there is apparently only room for one.

Good dude, dud of a football player. He was mediocre at South Florida.

I like the move good luck Ty.:) hope the injury gets 100% healed.

really shows how much BB likes his LBing corps.:)

the guy we picked up was a Saban player.

edit- not cut :)

edit 2---- (I don't see a darnell or a Ty reference)

can someone please confirm whether mckenzie is on the team? I want to know whether he stinks or not

I'm a bit surprised.

Too bad - they guy's career highlight (so far) was when he stood up the play in the first goal line formation work of training camp. That hit was the talk of the first week of camp, and led to talk of McKenzie vs. Spikes. That Dane Fletcher ended up outplaying him was a real surprise. That he never made it back to the roster was a surprise. And now his release.

Good luck.

That NFP link says Crompton and Washington signed to PS.

Also that DARNELL JENKINS goes to PS injured list list with a knee injury.

Nothing about McKenzie.

Mayo, Spikes, Guyton & Dane Fletcher all in their first three years. A practice squad spot for #5 ILB just didn't fit.

Wait, so this thread simply means that's 6 minutes of my life I'll never get back?

For everybody who still doesn't get it.

The Pats had one open spot on the practice squad. -1
The Pats signed Lorenzo Washington and Jonathan Straight Outta Crompton +2 to the PS.
The Pats put Darnell Jenkins who was on the PS on IR. -1

These were the only moves made today, so that means McKenzie was not cut.

Generally teams don't announce the players that were NOT cut so there isn't going to be anything in any of the links.

wow, that sucks. He was pretty good. Don't know why he didn't get much playing time.

If he was actually 'pretty good' he would have stayed on the 53. I think McKenzie's issues stem from being injured early in his career. He never recovered and he certainly never managed to leapfrog Mayo, Spikes, or Guyton on the depth chart.

Crompton is actually an interesting prospect with some pro level tools who didn't play much. Maybe they see some Matt Cassel in that kid.

Tennessee is actually a pretty good football factory for turning out NFL players.

In fact, through 2008, the Tennessee Volunteers are tied with the Florida Gators for most players drafted into the NFL from the SEC at 39 apiece.

Those players include, Peyton Manning in 98, Drafted #1 overall, to Jerody Mayo in 08, Drafted #10 overall. Maybe you've heard of them?

Some pretty good players come out of Tennessee. Here are the 1st rounders.
