Randy Moss to the Jets?
By: Ian Logue

If the Randy Moss saga hasn't been interesting enough since he was placed on waivers on yesterday, Eric Wilbur of the Boston Globe points out that according to WFAN's Craig Carton, Moss was in New Jersey yesterday meeting with members of the Jets. ...

ESPN's fellatio picking order :
1) Brett Farve
2) Randy Moss as a Jets WR
Dec 6 game would get huge ratings.

This story is irritating. Waiver wires, anyone? The Jets aren't exactly topping the list or anywhere close. Can common sense please prevail for once?

Is he even allowed to talk to other teams before he clears waivers? I thought that technically he's still a Viking.

I thought I read that Miami would claim Moss to prevent him from falling to the Pats, and since the Jets rights are after the Phins, the Jets too.

Once again Bella*chick is the voice of reason.

Agreed. I think that the Raiders or Rams will get him. There's no way he makes it through to the Jets on the claims list.

Moss can refuse to play for another team that places a waiver claim. So if the Jets make an agreement with him they just have to wait until Moss says no to every other team and then they will have him.

Colts or Jets would not be a good thing for the Pats.

The jets could easily find themselves (back) in a dark place if they are not carefull. The vikings last year were able to stick together because of winning and It looks to me lke the Jets are in the same boat.. If they start losing the team could fall apart...

add a unpredictable randy moss to that equation and that could be the "match stick" being thrown into the "trash can".. All "Pun" INTENDED!!!

Then what's the point of the waiver wire? Why not just cut him?

The Jets taking him makes no sense. They are already having problems with the return of Santonio Holmes messing up their passing game rhythm. Plus, he'd be the 3rd big, deep threat wide out on the team, behind Holmes and Braylon Edwards, another potentially big dysfunctional group.

Adding another "hood ornament" as CHFF put it will not help the Jets. If they do it, more power to them, I guess.

If he refuses to play for the team that claims him can just put him reserve/not report list. Not pay him and he sits out the rest of the year.

Technically, I don't think he can refuse. However, all teams have watched him blow his way out of two other teams in the last month, so you can be sure that they'll call his agent and make sure he won't create drama by refusing to come to the team that claims him, so he could definitely affect which teams put in a waiver.

So if you're the bills say, why not put in a claim, that way he doesn't show up and you keep him from the dolphins, jets, whomever.

The Bills need to focus on themselves and not engage in stupid strategizing in an already lost season.

Well, OK, but what's to prevent the dolphins from diong it then if they fear he would go back to NE or the jets?

Are they on the hook for his salary even if he doesn't show up? I would think not. If you don't show up for a team, you don't get paid. Kind of like Mankins now. He wasn't paid for the first 1/2 of the year.

The problem is what if he does show up and acts like the Randy they got in Minnesota this last go around. You now owe him $3 million, he's not gonna produce, will be vocal about not liking your organization, and will disrespect your catering staff.

technically he can tell all the teams he is not interested in to not claim them else he will not play for them etc.

I am really trying to figure out why teams want to scarf up Randy to spite the Pats?

Personally I think there is a chance of a snowball in hell that the Pats are even remotely interested in Moss anymore.

That ship has sailed and the 2010 version of Moss has failed (as a Pat)

I say NE is not even close to interested in retaining Moss no matter how many players and coaches liked him...its a business, not family, you don't take him back because you love him.

Does he then become an unrestricted free agent at the end of the year???
If they amended his contract to prevent the Vikings from franchising him as has been reported, does that transfer???
Would the team that selected him, even if he never played for them get the compensatory pick for him, assuming they exist in the new CBA??????
Sorry, more questions than answers....
