Schefter: Logan Mankins to report, sign tender on Tuesday

Connelly has done a great job stepping in. That said, no question that the OL is better with Mankins. Have we decided yet who he kicks off the roster?

They'll IR one of the backup OLs. I don't see where they can cut anywhere else besides that position.

The team has kept Light and Neal throughout the years, and Koppen was given a second deal as well. Despite your claim, the Patriots have not "done it this way for a decade".

Those guys negotiated in private and came to an amicable agreement with the FO.

Perhaps, you should turn your example machine towards your binky Mr. Seymour if you want to give us true illustrations.

So, yes, the Patriots have done it this way for a decade and it works.

Mankins approached the team about a contract extension prior to his first deal coming to an end.

Perhaps you should stop making lousy arguments.

One could just as logically argue that Brady's not worth $15+ million dollars more than Hoyer, either, if you point to the success Matt Cassel had when Brady went down.
Not sure if I would characterize missing the playoffs as "success".

I'd rather resign Mankins and use our draft picks on positions of strength in this draft (DL) and not positions of weakness (OL).

There isn't that much more room for DL on the team anyway.

Mankins isn't that much of an improvement over Connelly.

An 11 win season with a QB who hadn't started a game since high school isn't a "success"?

What does Brian Hoyer have to do with a comparison between Brady and Matt Cassel?

Brian Hoyer isn't Matt Cassel.

And the LG position is not the QB position.

Seriously, are you OK?

Approaching the team, doesn't mean coming to an agreement.

You can't comprehend that? My fifth grader can.

No, since you were comparing it to 6 playoff appearances, 4 SB appearances, and 3 SB wins.

Cassel was a backup that hadn't played since high school. Hoyer started in college and has impressed in his limited action. And the position is irrelevant to the argument.

I'm fine. Your arguments are just lousy.

So, in your mind, Cassel=Hoyer and LG is as important as QB.

Wow. Keep on truckin'. You're shining today.

That wasn't your argument:

I'd rather keep Connelly and use the money saved $5-6 million? to spend on a FA D-lineman for example.

That's how I see it too. Others may disagree and that's OK, but the Patriots have done it this way for a decade and each time the conventional wisdom around the league doesn't understand it.

Can your fifth grader comprehend you moving the goalposts?

No, since you were comparing it to 6 playoff appearances, 4 SB appearances, and 3 SB wins.

I don't recall comparing it to any such thing. I also didn't note the AFCCG, SB and 2009 playoffs when comparing Mankins to Connolly during this portion of the discussion.

No, in my mind, the logical arguments are consistent. Perhaps I should be discussing this with your fifth grader, since it seems to be above your head at the moment.

You are doing what everyone here knows you always do. Taking other quotes out of context, when I clearly was referring to your comparisons to Neal, Light and Koppen's contractual situations.

They negotiated in private and came to an agreement. That is different from publicly "approaching" the team and fighting about the response in public.

It is what it is and everyone here can see what you are doing. You are an angry, angry Deus and I hope you can find some happiness in your life (and so does my fifth grader who laughs at your posts).

Brady means everything to the team. mankins means nothing. He's replaceable. In fact, he already has been with no loss of anything noted.

He's a good guy, if he were willing to take a hometown discount like Light, Koppen then fine pay him. But he's not. And he's gotten ugly about it.

I agree 100%. I think Mankins is a tad overrated ( Brady & Manning really make their o-lines look better than they are ) but if he wants to sign for a reasonable contract ( the one the Pats originally offered ) I'm all for it. Even if LM is a UFA next year I can't see him getting the 8mil a year contract he is looking for. ( esp if the cap goes down )

I'm glad BB isn't spiteful & vindictive as many posters on this board seem to be. I think Mankins will regret not taking the original deal as the McNeil, D'Brick & Mangold contracts show that the Evans deal is looking more & more like an albatross contract.

Let me post the 2 posts again.

The post you were responding to:

Your response:

Your quote made ZERO, AS IN ABSOLUTELY NONE, mention of private negotiations or agreement.

You have to remember this was the same guy that said that Signing Wilfork was bad idea because he might have a heart attack. He Can't EVER be Wrong.
