I'm seeing no link or any attribution to this "report" - - until there is , this thread title is being changed to a question. There's alot of discussion here about something that at this point is complete heresay.

Rappaport just tweeted this:

"I asked Bill Belichick if Minnesota called and asked for their third-down pick back yet. He cracked a smile. And declined to answer."

First, I think that Ian mean ROUND and not DOWN. Second, the smile tells me that there may be some merit to this rumor

Massachusetts has the 3 R's law on the books.

consumers have a right to repair, replace, or refund for their purchase.

perhaps the Patriots will choose the repair option ...

Just kidding ... but the law is real for consumers.

I've checked NFL.com, ESPN, and Pro Football Weekly. Not a word on any of those sites about the Vikings filing or even mentioning anything about getting their pick back.

Grouch.

It's already been proven that Moss damaged Lord Favrequad by telling him he was not the fairest of them all. What more evidence will Prince Rodger need? :snob:

Belichick thought of this possibility and had the following added to the end of the trade agreement:

If for any reason you are not completely satisfied, I hate you.

Maybe Minny should have had a Buy one Moss get one Favre sale before they released Randy?

I can't find any source saying anything about this.

It is hard for me to imagine any scenario that ends in the Patriots having to give the 3rd round pick back, even IF the league returned Moss.

They had him for 4 games. At the very least, they would have to give the Pats one of their best players for 4 games to make it fair.

I think they should do this at the start of the playoffs since that will help the Pats the most and they won't be needing their players then anyway.

In all seriousness though, if this rumor is true, Childress is seriously done. It would play as a pathetic attempt to save face for being a moron.

I read this from a random poster, can anyone confirm whether or not this is true?

Worst Part of Decision

Had Moss left as a FA after the season, the Vikes would have gotten a 5th round compensatory pick. You can get a decent player in the 5th round.

Talk about vicious......In Minny, they're calling the
Childress/Moss fiasco:"Himmlergate".

......OUCHHHH!

Unknowable. It all depends on the player's next contract & performance with the new team. (A fifth sounds high, though.)

Maybe they can get store credit. Nmandi would be a nice exchange :D

It's obvious that when the Minnesota medical staff gave Randy a physical, they never checked his expiration date.

Based on the fact that Randy has 10+ years in the league, the highest pick Minn could have gotten is a comp 5th.

Ha. Yeah that was me. I was A Vikes fan in grade school and high school. I didn't know any better I swear!!

...my Minnesota family is not going to like all this. I feel bad for them, I should convert them too.

This is insulting to my intelligence... reminds me of the challenge on Tate's reception.

Do you really think there was no RISK involved with acquiring Randy Moss, a player who the Patriots traded due to his attitude problems?

Even worse: Moss made it known that he wanted to play for someone who would extend him. The whole reason why he was unhappy with the Pats is that they refused to extend his contract. So naturally, the Vikings trade for him and... don't extend him. wtf did they expect? If he was pissed about not getting a new contract on a team that he actually liked playing for, how did they think he'd react to not getting a new contract on a crappy team with a lame duck HC and a crap QB?

Could you please provide your link for this? I've not heard this ever. Nor have I seen the Comp Pick guru, AdamJT13, mention anything about this.

That applies to guys that have less than 10 years in the league but Moss has 10+(Faneca rule).
