My location was: "Your mother's ass". That has been my location on there for two years. My two posts on there included calling LT classy for smiling when asked if he felt good about the Chargers' troubles, and one post saying how this isn't going to be an easy game for the Pats. If JC Davey reads this, I want to know: whassupwitdat?

That is hilarious...their mothers' asses, indeed.

I agree. Not only do the Pats need to score at least 28 to win, but they're going to have to take advantage of SD's weaknesses on STs & Turnovers in order to score those 28+ points. I don't think we can win without big plays, because SD will more often than not win the battles at both sides of the LOS.

Huh?

SD's OL is not good at all. And they'll be without their best WR. I think if we can win the trench battle against the Ravens, we can do similarly against the Chargers.

The only concern I have about this game is the travel to the West Coast and the short recuperation from last week's extremely physical contest.

Re: the San Diego Enigma

I don't know about anyone else, but I'll be really pissed if we lose this game. After beating Miami and the Ravens, a loss to the Chargers would ruin that achievement.

Unless we're not really that good and this ends up being a building year...but hell, I hope it's not one of those either.

I could take a loss to Pittsburg or even the Colts easier than losing to SD. Another away game challenge for the Pats too. Last year, we stunk as a road team, so I would like to see real progress in that area as well.

Anyone else feel this way?

Contra, I got permanently banned from their site as well 2-3 years ago and got the same message. They really don't tolerate much at all from opposing fans.

They're very, VERY sensitive...but hell, it's California! Home of the ultra-politically correct!

What did you see in there?

What do you guys think about the Chargers schedule? I know it doesn't matter when a team is desperate but they have played weak west team. OAK, SEA, STL, KC etc. Who have they really played to fear their number one ranked everything?

I think we would be 6-0 with their schedule with our biggest threat being the Chiefs.

This is a big game for us as the post title indicates.

We are playing on the road against an efficient offense and defense.

I think this game will tell a lot to me as a fan in terms of where this team is.

This is one of the most important games on our schedule IMO.

Jack

He learned that analysis from denverpatsfan up at the ol' huntin' lodge.

The main concern for this game is if san Diego goes up big early. The defense has been lights out in the second half so the are making adjustments.

They just need to mature it into 60 minutes.

No turnovers
Sustain some drives

Well now it's all perfectly clear:

#1 in total offense + #1 in total defense + #32 in total smarts = losing record.

How many crucial plays in that game boiled down to playing stupid?

Chargers actually lived up to all of their #1 rankings today (doing even better in 3/4 of them)

=========================================
Defense (#1 in NFL)
255.2 yards

Today: 179 yards

Passing Defense (#1 in NFL)
163.7 yards

Today: 159 yards
=========================================
Offense (#1 in NFL)
432.7 yards

Today: 363 yards

Passing Offense (#1 in NFL)
316.2 yards

Today: 336 yards
=========================================

...while once again losing.

How excruciating must it be to be a fan (or coach, or player) of that team?

It's bizarre but a great example of how a team can be loaded with talent but be torpedoed by poor coaching.

Norv Turner is good at x's and o's, but horrible at everything else.

His offense and defense may be rated #1, but they give up so many yards in penalties on offense and on defense, make bone headed plays, give up tons of turnovers, and have horrible special teams.

Dallas is similar to San Diego, in being another top 5 offense and defense that always loses games because Wade Phillips is a chode.

Agreed. Clearly, SD is one of the top 6 teams in the nfl, with the critical exception of their coaching. They should easily be winning the AFCW.

It is truly amazing is that they are the #1 offense AND #1 defense and the coaches still find ways to lose. So, they not only have the talent, but they have talent that is executing on the field.

Never has a coach in the nfl wasted so much talent.

Marty Schottenheimer says hi. ;)

Seriously, though, how much of this can be laid at the feet of Kris Brown and the ST unit? How differently does this game turn out if Brown doesn't kick OOB, giving the Pats the ball at the 40?

It's not only thiis game. How would you like to have the #1 offense and defense and be 2-5 because of bonehead coaching?

Shotty made mistakes. 2-5 with this team is beyond what has happened before.

Sorry—I meant whether this loss could be laid at Turner's doorstep like a flaming bag of poop. Clearly at least some of the blame for their 2-5 start can be.

I do think that a team playing unaware, undisciplined and downright stupid has to reflect poorly on the coach.
