A somewhat realistic replacement at WR

Yep, trading a whole bunch of draft picks for one player is the way to go - especially when your biggest need for improvement is on the opposite side of the ball as said player. Besides, that strategy has worked so well in NFL history with the trades for Herschel Walker and Ricky Williams.

Can I ask why it is that so many people now want to scrap the formula that made the Pats successful, and instead now follow the Dan Snyder way of doing things?

a 1st, a 2nd, a 3rd, and a 4th? Way too much, IMO.

...except for Clay Matthews.

yeah. I really wanted this guy. With his play in college and his pedigree (Matthews Sr.), it was a no-brainer for a LB.

But then again, Gholston was suppose to be a DE beast for Jets. A #1 bust.

We should change the thread title around to, "A totally unrealistic replacement at WR". We're more likely to get Jerry Rice in his prime than we are to get Fitz.

I have to hope that the OP was referring to realistic in the sense that Fitz's attitude and style of play make sense with this team (as opposed to someone nuts like Steve Smith or someone who's constantly in danger of suspension, like VJax). Because, yeah, "realistic" in the sense of hey, this could happen? No freakin' way.

I agree that Larry Fitz is almost cert. out of the question, though I admire cousin DW's effort for trying to construct a trade beneficial to both sides.

However, if Bill saw the writing on the wall re Moss, perhaps as early as LateGate, then I wish he would've made a better - if any - effort at re-signing Dante Stallworth. Dante could stretch the defense like Moss, and he knew the offense. But unlike the Ratio, he would not have demanded the ball; in fact, he just would've been grateful for the job.

I wonder how Tory Holt's recovery from injury is progressing...

I think the title of this thread should probably be changed to:

A 100% unrealistic replacement at WR

Larry Fitzgerald? Give me a break.
I agree realistic?????? What has that OP been smoking.....really NOT AT ALL realistic...

Brady stopped throwing to Stallworth when we had him. He had trouble grasping the playbook.

Stallworth might not know the playbook as well as Branch - though he does possess the more recent version of it - but he would've cost a helluva lot less to acquire, in terms of both salary and compensation.

Please please please tell me that we are not footing the entire amount of Meion's paycheck, both for the remainder of this year plus all of next year, too...after Bill refused to pay him the same amount in 2006 when he was still, you know, young & healthy & productive; as opposed to 2010 when he is, you know, not any of those things.

Greg Johns of the Seattle Post-Intelligencer confirms that Golden Tate and Deon Butler are both headed for a "significant boost" in playing time following the Deion Branch trade.

Brandon Stokley will also be in the mix as a slot receiver. Branch was in on an unbelievable 83 percent of offensive snaps over the first four games
, so Butler (47.8 percent) and Tate (27.2) have plenty of room to grow. Tate is the offense's best big-play threat, and he's our favorite of the Seattle receivers to emerge as a viable fantasy option.

83% of snaps - He's healthy. Yes his numbers have been down since he left the patriots but he also hasnt had Brady throwing him the ball. I think he will be just fine.
