Bruschi: 'It was time for Randy to Go'

Interesting observation from Bru:

"Conceptually, I think they're gonna get back to the way they were playing football in their championship years", said Bruschi. "Offensively, they've never been defined when they were winning championships...I think they're gonna turn into a better team now and this is gonna bring them together".

From Troy:

"[Tom Brady] needs to get back to being the quarterback that delivers the balls to the guys that are open" said Brown. "I think alot of times as a quarterback you can get spoiled by having guys like Randy on your team because you feel like they can bail you out of any situation and you just throw the ball up to him or throw it into a bad situation which is not good for the football team overall...At the end of the day the way you're gonna win is by getting the ball to open people and moving the ball down the field in a methodical way and running the ball when you have to run it and that to me is the sign of a successful team."
Bruschi: 'It was time for Randy to Go'

I agree wholeheartedly with Tedy that we need to get back to ball control offense and grind it out.

I also felt since the Miami game in 2007 that Brady was taking WAY too many risks with the ball in order to connect with Randy and that his style would suffer and one day we would regret it. Kinda what Troy says.

Well, Wilfork shot down Bruschi's claim with a good amount of authority.

I agree, they're both spot on. I'd love to see us add someone who was capable of being a deep threat, it's always nice to have, but more as another dimension of the offense rather than the main dimension.

Troy and Bru understand what it takes to win championships plus they understand the Patriots, always great stuff from both of them:rocker:

I don't mind if the Pats go back to the offense the way it was during the super bowl days, I'm just not too sure how effective that offense is going to be with such an unpredictable young defense.

Yeah, people seem inclined to dismiss it, but he elaborated way more than he had to. Seemed pretty clear to me that he disagreed with Bruschi and wanted to set the record straight.

I think Bruschi was talking about scheme as much as the locker room.

Exactly. Everybody interviewed said nothing negative about Randy as a teammate, Troy and Bru's remarks were about the offensive game, not about Randy himself.

How the hell do you read that as saying "nothing negative about Randy as a teammate"?

I've noted this before, and the early tenor of this thread seems to call for it to be pointed out again:

The 2007 Patriots had 6 receivers with more than 35 receptions.

2009 had 4
2008 had 4 (w/Cassel as QB)
2006 had 4
2005 had 3
2004 had 2
2003 had 4
2002 had 4
2001 had 2

In the Brady era, the team has never spread the wealth any better than it did in 2007.

But if that's how it happened then it WAS time for him to go but regardless, Bru and Troy's FOOTBALL analysis is what I quoted and that's what I agree with. There are 200 other threads here to talk about the drama, I was originally talking about the analysis. :bricks: He's gone now and nothing you say or do will bring him back.

Well, according to Wilfork that's not how it happened, but that's beside the point, and it's not what I was responding to, and it's definitely not what you quoted.

You said that Bruschi said nothing negative about Moss as a teammate or a person. I linked you to a video where he said that people in the locker room were fed up with him and he'd become a cancer. Move the goalposts all you want--the point's been made regardless--but nobody's trying to bring him back. Just holding objectively, factually incorrect posters accountable ;)

Actually yes it is. See my original post. Just keeping factually inaccurate posters accountable;) I hadn't seen the video, obviously that's negative.

Eh, no point in pressing the issue. The posts are there for everyone to read.

Because Wilfork is reciting the party line that nothing happened.

BB said there was no blowup at halftime too. Its the best way to put the fire out. Nothing happened, Yup.

Good on Big Vince for saying what he said and I hope NONE of them say anything different. I love when they circle the wagons:D

Well, I liked how Brady spread the ball last week, considering he never completed a pass to Moss. Say what you will about defenses having to double him leaving room for Welker--and I agree that the synergy allowed for a Brady-Welker feast and the killer bomb to Moss--the big difference between 2007 and 2009 was Gaffney, which brings me to my point: With 2 receivers that can consistently get open, Brady is good. With three, he's lethal. I pity the defense that thinks they can solve their problems by just doubling Welker. It's going to be a slow death by a thousand cuts.
