I had to do it, he is the only guy who spoke to a "source" that told him that this trade was not going to happen. Tom take a hint, when the rest of media is saying this going to happen might want to dump that source.

I wonder if this is the same source that told him Cassel would not be traded and Tom Brady would not be the opening day starter.

Actually, quite a few came out last night and said that there was no trade going to happen. And that includes the Pats official statement on the subject last night.

Kind of hard to get all over him for that.

Ten bucks says his "source" was that talking Randy Moss mask he uses on his awful show.

Curran spoke to Stacey James who told him "There's no trade."

That was his twitter post last night.

Let's face it, his source is his mirror.

At the time, there apparently wasn't.

Curran's source is a Magic 8 Ball he bought at Wal-Mart.

Tom has been wrong so often that I just don't take his "inside sources" into account any longer. Sorry, but he obviously allows the wool to get pulled over his eyes way too easily.

At the time James said that, there was no trade -- so "there's no trade" is accurate. Rapoport reported some similar info but pointed out no one was denying it could happen.

Curran's not one for nuance in what people say. At the opening of camp, BB was VERY careful when asked about Mankins' absence, saying "all the players here are under contract." Then when it came out that Burgess was a no-show, Curran got on BB for lying by saying "all the players under contract are here." Subtle difference in word order, but big difference in meaning.

I think he's also the one who tweeted Kraft's "we're cooking" comment to be in response to a question on the Brady talks -- while all the other reporters made it clear it was a hurried scene and Kraft, probably not hearing the question, just threw out a generic line about the practices.

So when Brady gave one of his limited press conf. during training camp, Curran reported the Brady was very "dismay", I watched the same press conf. on pats web site and Curran was reaching at best. I did not think Brady was "dismay".

No, Stacey James said that no trade had been made. He went well out of his way to clarify that that said nothing about whether or not discussions were happening or whether a trade would happen. Get your facts straight before you jump all over someone else like that.

I too was hoping that Curran had the scoop here, but oh well.

You win some, you lose some. Let's not slam Curran and his source for being horrifyingly wrong. :(

no one within an offical compacity will ever say there is a trade until the trade actually happens. Both James and Chilly said there was no trade yesterday...that is because the trade happened today.

Guy does his homework. Checks with the Pats official source. Source says "No trade". Curran reports the info. Did his job. Got taken. Gets a pass from me.

Curran was the first to report a 3rd round draft pick as compensation. If anyone should be slammed it should Gary Tanguay for saying Moss/Belichick had a confrontation at Gillette yesterday.

There was way too much smoke to not believe this was going down, but you got to give Curran credit for being right on the Maroney and BJGE situation.

True, he's had some high profile hits and some high profile misses in the last year two. That's the nature of the beast.

I don't consider him to be any kind of 'source" that I'd rely on but I don't consider him to be necessarily wrong either, I don't really attach any signifigance to his news yet, he's got a ways to go before he atones for Kneegate.
