If Moss trade happens, have your expectations of the 2010 season gone down?

taking into account that the trade is for a 3rd round pick, and no other player (Vincent Jackson) comes to the Pats.

Exactly as it was at the start of the year.

Pats football is still Pats football without Moss

it will be interesting simply because it will be much different

Why would losing Moss change Pats fans excitement for this team? It's not like Brady is getting traded for a 4th round pick.

The same interest as in 1975, as it was in 1990, as it was in '01, '02, '03 on and on.. my interest is about that same.. rabid.

Think Moss is probably the greatest receiver on this club all time, but if he becomes a negative influence on the club it is time to cut your losses and move on.

well it seems to majority of people sem to think the season is over if Moss goes. Its not like we have the defense of 2004 to help us. I mean, most people thought the PAts were a 8-8 to 10-6 team with Moss.

Maybe i worded the question wrong. How are your expectations of the Pats if Moss leaves? That better.

I'm personally still holding out hope that this doesn't happen. I'm sure there's smoke, but that doesn't necessarily mean that there is fire.

I want to see Randy get a ring with NE. Like Corey and Rodney.

not going to happen. the current offensive scheme has become too easy to stop.

if the pats could not swing it against the jets with a healthy offensive roster while the jets were missing pace and had an injured revis, how are they going to solve it with those guys there?

The loss of Moss will definitely hurt the team, but he hasn't been a focal point of the offense. Maybe Belichick sees in the game films what we don't and the reason Moss isn't producing this season because he lost a step and he isn't the same guy. I mean Cromartie got burnt badly by Boldin, Mason, and Marshall and had no problem shutting down Moss.

As long as they have Brady on offense, they still have a shot. The guy has a lot of weapons still on this team. It will be harder for some of these guys to get open, but with so many weapons people will get open.

My expectations are slightly down, but other than the Jets game (which was a loss), Moss really has been a virtual non-factor in the Pats' other games than being primarily a decoy.

Im a fan, but the deal does make sense and unless there is more than meets the eye... Like I said Im glad we will be wearing our throwbacks on Oct 31st because it will look like 1990 that game... and perfect its on halloween... Randy Moss helps you win games now, not next year now... Im just disapointed another year of Tom Brady's carrer will be wasted without a specal reciever..

My expectations were never high this season so I'm not that bummed out in that sense. I've always pleaded to see a bigger committment to the run and less shots downfield anyways. I guess we'll find out though how much not having Moss to stretch the field will affect what we do though.

I expect that Hernandez won't look as open with Moss not double covered. Safeties will creep into the box to cover underneath routes and provide better run support. In short, offense will be harder to come by without Moss, except against the really good defenses who think they can match-up one-on-one against Moss, either by having a strong CB or by having so much pressure that Moss doesn't have time to get open deep. I'd trade him for another 2nd though.

Like i said lets wait for 2 weeks to see what may or may not happen, but just because Moss was not a focal part , doesnt mean he helped the offense... Moss took away coverage from defenders so Welker gets open... Dont tell me Brandon Tate and Taylor Price will be the difference, now oh lets not forget Julian Eldleman... Moss was a difference maker, its just baffling just give him up for a third round pick.. Maybee Belichick and Brady were tired of babysitting, if that is the case, this should have been done before the season... 12 more games of moss is way better than another Belichick draft bust for this year.. But again lets see what happens in 2 weeks..

Dissapointed if Moss leaves as he represents a Diff kind of era for the Pats. All those fantasy teams named "Brady to Moss" are going to have to change it.

The team played well Monday without Moss recieving a Pass but he was still double teamed quite a bit as Miami looked to take him out of the Picture. And the Offense looked a little slow at times... just my opinion...

So it definately changes the way I think this team moves forward and how could it not change your personal expectations of how this season might unfold.

I still think they can win games but I will have to see the offense play with out him first to see how it will work..

I thought with Moss we would have to catch lightning in a bottle to win the superbowl ala 2005 Steelers

Without Moss i think the superbowl is a completely unrealistic expectation

I though they may have a shot at 12-4 now 9-7....I really doubt pats can keep up with packers, chargers, colts, jets, and steelers without randy moss.

Interest the same but the realism is this season is over. Who cares if we go 10-6 or 11-5 etc. If we don't win the Super Bowl the season is a failure. This is not Cleveland here where we are trying to build for the future. This team has Tom Brady and it has to win Super Bowls to be successful. We can not win a Super Bowl with this young and under performing defense and no proven reciever to stretch the field and make the big plays that will be needed without Faulk and a stout defense.

My expectations will definitely change and not for the better. Moss has been the focal point of every defense that we've faced. He draws extra coverage, he moves around before the snap to keep defenses guessing, he always draws the opponents top pass defenders and by doing so it opens up opportunities for a number of different options for Brady on each play. There's been concern that Brady forces passes to Moss but this only helps to assure that he is attracting extra coverage leaving other receivers with opportunities to get open.

I can only assume that there is more to this than has been reported and some situation has prompted the coaching staff to make the decision that this is the time for Randy to go. I'm looking at this much as what happened when Seymour was traded; there were some reasons that the decision was made when it was but I don't see any basis to say that it helped the team as it clearly did not.
