Rumor: Moss to Vikings?

Are we sure about that? NFLN just said that Moss did NOT request this.

there are sources that says there is no trade, sources that Moss REQUEsTEd a trade, and a source that says the Lions will go 16-0...

First I have heard of this. This throws a wrinkle in my thinking if true.

I'm not a man and I've watched him plenty. I was thinking more of the Grandfather Favre character not holding up his end of the bargain. Have you watched HIM this year?

You obviously have been only watching espn highlights of favre. The Vikes are hurting at the wide out positions right now due to injuries. Come season end you'll see a totally different vikings team. Super Bowl is not out of the question.

Yup...watched him...its called NFL Ticket...Brett Favre at this moment has no receivers to throw to...I mean Visanthe Shiancoe is his main target fersake...LOL

I'm not sure what you think I was trying to say. I'm trying to point out two things:

(1) There is a specific rule that limits what the Patriots can get as a comp pick if Moss leaves as a FA in 2011.

(2) People who are arguing that "the Pats can get a comp pick if they don't trade him and let him walk in 2011" are, by and large overstating the best-case scenario.

Personally, I'm not happy with the idea of trading Moss, but I'm kinda resigned to the fact that one way or the other, he's not going to be a Patriot in 2011.
Good catch, I was one of those assuming it would be a 3rd.

By the way, for any doubting the above, look back to when the Steelers got a 5th for Alen Faneca even though Faneca signed for $7.8 million and played on 98% of the snaps for the Jets that year. More details here:

Two well-placed NFL sources predicting tonight that the Randy Moss-to-Minnesota trade will be consummated Wednesday.

So... if Moss isn't doing so great now... how can we expect him to do better in Minnesota? Especially with a worse QB, worse Coach, and worse COACH

Why can't someone get a rumor of the trade terms? All we have to go on is a once reported rumor made 4 hours ago.

It's just simply unbelievable that this is happening. Unbelievable.

if true, bb's arrogance is astounding. we know he wouldn't give up on a season, he thinks he can win with any players

They're undefeated.

Plus Vrabel was a throw in. We would have gotten the same value out of the trade anyway. Thats what bothered me about that trade.

Haha they're undefeated. Yes they are until this Sunday, then they will be 3-1 just like us. And Vrabel would have been cut either way.

thanks for the support .trust me brett to moss will not come close to tom to moss or culpepper to moss .

Maybe not, but Favre to Moss, Favre to Rice, Favre to Harvin, then Favre handing off to AP is some serious compensation. :rocker:

Well I am probably the only one here that still likes moss... but haven't we won 3 rings WITHOUT Moss? and didn't this same thing happen when we lost Ty Law?

I want to start hearing less about the "deal will be official soon" and more what is the deal for.

tom to moss = yes

culpepper to moss = LOL (moss made culpepper)

Last year Favre was better.

Peterson is in the backfield

Moss will be used on more routes and less of a decoy.

Our playaction is way better.

Favre is going to throw more then one pass towards Moss. Favre loves Moss.

Moss will do great. Probably top ten statistics.

The Moss clock has run out. This team has a future.Cull the heard now of losers.
This team is not going to the SB with or without Moss this year. This team will be thee dynasty again from 2012 and beyond.

From a pure football standpoint, there's just no way this makes any sense if it really is Moss straight up for a 3d round pick.

12 games without a guy of his quality for the difference between a 3d and a 5th makes no sense.

The only way explanation would have to be (1) hubris, or (2) there is a genuine feeling on the Pats that Moss is or is about to become a distraction that will negate the benefits he gives us over the next 12 games. Frankly, I'm not sure there's actually a difference between number 1 and 2.

I suppose the other possibility is that this is a win for Randy and something he wants. He will get the big contract if this happens, and it's easier to do that now than after the year is over. But the Pats don't do players favors.

It just doesn't make any sense at all. Now, if we were really getting something significant in return, it would make sense. The Vikings are "all in" this year -- they need a stadium, Favre only has one year left, they have a tough schedule, and they need some help on offense. It seems like a desparate trading partner, and so perhaps it makes sense if we can get something significant. I guess we also free up some cap space if we lose his salary. Do we? But what are we going to do with it at this point. Bottom line for me: If this really is Randy for a 3d, he's become a distraction no matter what anyone says, or our team's brass has lost its mind.
